Weddings and Senior pics are also popular. Day use is now $8. There is a restroom and several picnic areas by the pond to sit back and relax. To avoid the fee, park off Ramsey Canyon Road and walk the 0.8 mile to the ranch house. My hiking group does weekly loop hikes in Brown Canyon. The ranch house is open during daylight. The pond is a habitat for the endangered Chiricahua Leopard Frog. There are several trails that start at the ranch house. The Brown Canyon trail is a four-mile trail that one can take into Ramsey Canyon. The Garden Connector trail, which begins off the Buffalo Soldier Trail and SR92, ends here. The Brown Canyon Loop trail also starts here, although it's not marked. Just make sure you turn left at the horse trough two miles into the hike. This is a 4.6-mile loop. Just watch out for speeding mountain bikers. There is also a 1.5-mile Nature Trail loop with a duck pond. Dogs are allowed on these trails, but must be leashed. This place can get busy on the weekends. Watch out for rattlesnakes, javelina, coyote and deer.

There's a tiny duck pond on the walking path and a small bench to rest and take in the beautiful scenery. Pet's are welcome as long as you clean up after them to preserve the walking path. There is a nice pathway all the way around that I love to walk while my dogs play. There is also plenty of shade. The small dog side does not have the space for a walkway, but has plenty of seating for hanging out with your dogs. There are water fountains for humans and dogs on both sides and rakes and shovels to use as pooper scoopers. Pretty much everyone that goes there are friendly and attentive of their dogs. The parks are poop free most of the time, but sometimes there is a missed pile. The fencing is pretty secure, but very small dogs can get under the fence between the big and small dog areas. Just keep an eye on your wee pups. Parking is very close and there are plenty of spaces. There is also a playground nearby if you have children old enough to play on their own. Another cool thing is that Ivan was a Tucson PD Canine and this dog park is a memorial to him.

Given that he possesses a predilection towards relieving himself at various dog parks around Tucson, we decided that upon arriving to Bisbee, the first thing we would do is find a dog park where he could relieve himself. That said, we found this dog park very interesting. It is a recently converted little league baseball field, with the bleachers and a dugout intact on the premises. Based on a plaque I found in the area, it seems to have been built around 1975, and to have originally been dedicated in the memory of a local businessman who had died around that time. The park has been outfitted with all the trappings of a typical dog park. They have a nice space for your furry pals to roam around, buckets and a water line to ensure that they can stay hydrated, and most importantly, various ways to pick up their poop ranging from shovels and garbage pails, to free poop bags. The only issue we had was the lack of dog toys or shade available in the area, though we were encouraged to see several young trees, which seem to have been recently planted since they were protected by a wire. As for whether it was suitable for our needs, I am happy to report that Mr. Fussypaws did indeed find the time to play with other dogs and to relieve himself at his pleasure; and to our relief.

You will find lots of hummingbirds there, but also dedicated volunteers that help visitors learn about the birds. There are lots more than just hummingbirds, I had several "lifers" at the Center that were not hummingbirds. There are shady benches to watch the birds, and a real community of birders from around the country, well, even international visitors, too. Behind the Center are lots of other birds, one notable place in the Patagonia Sonoita Creek Preserve. The star of the Paton Center is the Violet Crowned Hummingbird. Yes, you can sometimes find this Hummingbird elsewhere, but this the place you can always reliably find it. It's beautiful. The volunteers are not pushy, they are always helpful. They also know other places to find birds. There's a sense of peace here, comradery, and fun. It's all free, but donations are welcome.

The pollinator garden was small but dense filled with hundreds of beautiful flowers. Now the important facts: 4th Saturday they offer a guided bird walk! There are also shaded areas, which make it much more comfortable to hang out, especially on warmer days. It's clean, well maintained, and has quickly become one of my favorite dog parks.
