In recent years, I've jumped on the granola bandwagon. Sure I've eaten my fair share of peanut butter/choco dipped chewy granola bars as a kid, but granola has evolved since those days, and for the better! Always on the hunt for good granola, I recently found Tom's Best-Ever. One word: dee-lish! Tom has spent the past 15+ years making granola for family and friends as a hobby. Apparently it was such a hit, people encouraged him to sell it to the public. Years later and *voila*, I'm enjoying Tom's Best from my home! It's different from other granolas (in my opinion), because in addition to the oats, it has loads of yummy dried fruit and nuts like peaches, raisins, cherries, pepitas, pecans, almonds, just to name a few! The taste is definitely homemade as well vs. mass produced. He uses honey, molasses and maple syrup to flavor/sweeten the oats/granola. The result, a rich, dark and naturally sweetened granola. You can tell that a lot of time and effort was put into everything from the product to the packaging. I especially enjoy mine on ice cream, and yogurt, but it's a great snack on it's own as well! I've got mine, now go say "hi" to Tom and get yours! A Snooper Friend of mine gave me a gift, so fine. Granola is a vice for me, i just can't lay off it, you see. Tom's was a gift, yes it's true - but a curse it was, too. How the hell am I supposed to quit? With Crunchy Oats, Pecans, Almonds - and that's not even half of it. Dried peaches - PEACHES, tart cherries and more. There's cranberries, maple syrup and honey for sure. Toasted extra dark to ensure it's crisp, now my mouth is always so full of it, I have a granola lisp. All I can claim is at least on a whole bag I did not feast. I ate gobs though, that's for sure. Undressing later, some fell from somewhere on to the floor. I'm a Little Piggy, of that I'm sure. There's still a bit left, but not for long. At least I can say I didn't eat it all in one sitting, that would just be wrong. read more

I have been promising myself to write this review for some time now. First lets say that Toms Granola is without equivocation the best tasting granola I have ever encountered. Just the right amount of sweet. Perfect chewy. Nice crunch. Nutty and fruity and just flat out delicious! Ok. So here is the interesting part. 6 or so years ago I found myself with Type 2 diabetes. My life changed ... in particular my diet. All the good stuff is pretty much out and that included granola until I came across Toms! I cannot guarantee how your system will react but I find I can have a nice size bowl of this very yummy granola with almond milk and I do not get a big sugar spike. Did I mention it is delicious! I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I had my first bite of Tom's Best Ever Granola... I thought sure, I'll have a little snack. But 5 minutes later I had eaten the entire bag! It is the perfect blend of crunchy, sweet, nutty, fruity, and spice. There must be some extra ingredient like cat nip that keeps me coming back for more. I eat it by itself, mixed with other plainer cereals, in yogurt, with other fruits, by itself with milk... pretty much any way, shape, or form. My only complaint is that it is TOO good. You must try this Granola. But beware, granola will never be the same again... read more

Yum, Yum, Yum, Yum, YUM!!! After sampling this granola numerous times at the Alameda Farmer's Market, I finally bought a bag. Well, we got it Saturday, and it's now Monday, and it's gone. I was walking through the Farmers Market today at 9:45 when Tom informed me it would be better if I came back after he was set up, though I was not looking for anything in his stall. A little positive customer appreciation for people who frequent farmers markets (regardless of if they show up 15 minutes before or after open or close) is what makes going to community events so awesome. It is disappointing to find vendors with such pretentious attitudes toward the public. Many other vendors were happy to see us and more than willing to do business or just let us know what they offered rather than give us pointers on proper street fair etiquette. read more

One of the best and most local products at the Kensington Farmer's Market (a very nice farmer's mkt) is Tom's Best Ever Granola. I have eaten a lot of granola over the years, including my own home made granola which was my staple for 4 years of undergraduate. Tom's is actually the best granola I have ever eaten. This is, hands down, the best granola under the sun. I started buying Tom's Best Ever Granola from Tom himself, at the Kensington Farmer's Market at Colusa Circle every Sunday. I was hooked after the first taste. Now that I'm eating gluten free, it has become an essential part of my daily sustenance. Marvelous maple "slurple" roasted over choice pecans, almonds, oats, and a seasonal selection of dried fruits. It just SENDS me! There are lots of options for granolas in the Bay Area but this one has to be the best because it is so fresh & tasty, so full of heart and so homemade-tasting! I first discovered Toms Granola at the Kensington Farmers Market. It is by far the best granola that I have ever tasted. The quality and flavor is consistently great. I no longer buy any other granola. I simply buy the refill bags for my Tom's Best Granola Ever glass jar. He gives you a price break if you are buying to refill your jar. Give it a try. This is far and away the best granola out there. I have tried many kinds of granola before, and none of them are as thoughtfully made or delicious as Tom's Best Ever. Tom goes out of his way to include the best ingredients, creating an envigorating blend of flavors. It is perfectly sweet, yet not overwhelmingly so, as the hints of honey compliment the oats and almonds exceptionally well. I'm one of those crazy people that orders granola at restaurants. My friends are always like, "seriously? GRANOLA?" And my response is, yes. Of course. Only if it's great, though. I have very high granola standards. To me, granola is either amazing, terrible or completely unmemorable. Usually unmemorable equates with terrible, because why on earth would you spend money on what is essentially a crushed up Nature Valley bar? I could have done that myself. GOOD granola is great, because you know you would never actually make it yourself, it's nutritious, delicious and as many great things are, usually locally produced. Tom's meets all of these criteria. It's got loads of dried fruit (which is a must in my book for granola), oats, nuts and just the perfect tinge of sweetness that doesn't overwhelm or underwhelm you. Every bite is different, it's great on nearly anything (sometimes I even put it in my oatmeal for an added crunch) and it's the perfect grab-and-go snack.
