With a couple food trucks in addition to vendors, I've found this to have the most hot food dining options for those who go to the market to do more than shop. This market also has pretty much anything you'd need for a meal. One note, it is so popular that I've seen a tent and a food truck sell out before they close for the day so you may want to go early. There are a few benches that provide good seating, which can allow for taking this market at a bit of a slower pace than you might others. Only note, it can get extremely congested, as I feel this is one of the most popular markets in the Bay, if you want something more sprawling I'd suggest Old Oakland, but otherwise no complaints. Temescal is soundly in my faves!

The other vendors looked great too- esp the chicken parm sub, ceviche and pork bao. We also stopped in at the K-market- what a luxury! Grabbed 무말랭이무침, 김밥, some Japanese seaweed salad, pantry staples like Laoganma, Korean sea salt, and our fav snack chips. Plus I got to visit Booktree (my annual pilgrimage when I am in town). I was able to get kale at $1/bunch. The red amaranth and the fuzzy melon was by the pound. The bok choy and yi choy was $2 each. Fruit was $3.50/pound. Street parking only. I tend to go between 8:00 and 9:00 am for better parking and more inventory. There's also fresh fish and stalls with donuts and cooked foods. There's also market it 2 blocks x 2 blocks. They often have fresh caught fishes, fresh produce, fresh flowers, fresh local honey and this place has naturally made ingredients cream and lotion for your face and body. One thing I love the most about this farmer's market is that there is always a live band or live music! Parking is street parking in Chinatown which is tough. You can come locally by bus or get off the BART on 12th Street City Center and walk towards Jack London. Some vendors take credit cards but cash is gold here! I love coming back on sunny days and always look forward every Friday mornings!!

There is an excellent mix of produce, real food, treats (including ice cream), and take home items that you can very easily get lunch, dessert, and grocery shopping all done in one stop. The parking situation is a bit close to impossible which would really be the only con, but the neighborhood is super walkable so once you find a spot, take a stroll and earn the ham and cheese croissant I'll promise you you'll want to try! As you head out from the BART station walk along Adeline in the opposite direction of Berkeley Bowl in the direction of Flacos. Keep walking for a bit & you will see them on the right hand side of Adeline. Lots of organic produce here. Some of it maybe a bit costly yet fresh as you can imagine as the blueberries I picked up were picked the morning that I bought them. I like that it is compact, lots of variety, & w/ heaps of organics. I do a lot of my own cooking as I frequently make smoothies for breakfast along w/ stews w/ whole grains for lunch along w/ dinner. I have recently gotten into making different customized trail mixes. I picked up some blueberries, raspberries, cantaloupe, squash, & almonds. Other items that I saw that looked interesting that I didn't pick up were avocados & sprouts. Look forward to returning here again soon!

It's very organized and offers many options for fruits, vegetables, fresh noodles, Asian snacks, Asian sauces, drinks, and dried goods. While small, many options are available. When there was a shortage of Sriracha, Yasai was the one spot I could find large bottles of it. They offer fresh, in-season produce and keep it maintained well-- while I was there, one of the employees refreshed vegetables as they needed re-filling.

It is located on 8th St,…read morenext to the Franklin St intersection (which is across the street from Chase Bank if you need an ATM to get cash for your Oakland Chinatown shopping). Note: This small grocery store does accept credit card and some digital payments with a $20 minimum purchase. They have very affordable prices and good deals for their limited selections of produce displayed outside. Inside the store is a refrigerated/frozen aisle of limited meat/poultry/seafood, and a few water tanks filled with live fish/seafood for sale. When I walked by today, I noticed they had a package of 16 oz (1 lb) strawberries for only $1.00! So I swiftly picked up a box and started browsing their produce outside, and meat/seafood available inside. Prices are comparable to other small Oakland Chinatown grocery stores around the block (e.g. $2/lb shanghai bok choy etc). In the refrigerated sections for poultry (fresh chicken, goose, duck) prices ranged from $1+ per lb of assorted chicken pieces, and $15 to $46 for whole poultry. There are some pork ribs, meatballs (fish or beef, chicken, etc), and branded tofu for sale too. They also have a handful of tanks filled with live fish/seafood. Today I saw live bass ($12.99/lb), live tilapia ($6.99/lb), and another live fish for $5.99/lb (sign was in chinese so I couldn't read it, see photo for more details). Overall a good spot to grab affordable deals on seasonal produce, fresh poultry, and live fish. The produce area outside was decently organized and not overwhelming. Inside the store was also organized well and there were no strong or apparent odors of seafood or meat which may be typical of a market-style butcher shop. I would definitely stop by to see what they have fresh/seasonally, the next time I am in Oakland Chinatown. And especially if I need to purchase a fresh (unfrozen) whole duck or goose for a special recipe.

I came by and got some fresh, sweet strawberries and a thick slice of sourdough focaccia bread that was soft and paired great with some rosemary infused olive oil. They didn't have any hot food vendors though, so I was a bit bummed by that. Parking is available on the street via meters.

Bought loose all natural teas but they were expensive. From $20 - $30 per bag. I usually buy loose natural teas at my local farmers market in Tracy and they are $15 per bag no matter what type of tea is is. It was quiet since I arrived right at 10am when it opens. Not many people at all walking around. The tea vendor was nice but seemed nervous, which I thought was odd. Unless this was his first time selling. It is a family run home grown teas.
