Got there only two other tables in the dining room had people. Wanted 10 minutes to get a drink. Finally got ordered after another 10 minutes. Got the meatloaf that was a mistake. Mushiest meatloaf I've ever had. Couldn't finish it. Used to have good food but like a lot of places things have went downhill. Won't be back. read more

Tom's Tavern has never disappointed. Yesterday, We had their Easter Sunday Brunch and it was awesome. Plenty of food choices ranging from ham, turkey, pasta, potatoes, dessert, and more! The staff was hustling to keep their patrons well served with food choices, beverages, and clearing tables. We tried almost everything on the menu and we were completely satisfied. What a great find! Tonight was our first visit to Tom's and our first beef roll! Well, we were very impressed! The beef roll was superb and came with both marinara and delicious au jus. It was huge - it was enough food for at least 4 adults. Deep fried portabella mushrooms were yummy, too. The staff was super friendly and Tom the owner was great. Will definitely be back! read more

So Tom's Tavern popped up on my Facebook feed. I saw it was in Kempton and had no clue where that was. I end up finding out it was only 17 miles from me. As the last few weeks have gone by, I noticed their specials that they were posting. Well today they posted their specials and one of them was Prime Rib. Ok, now I gotta go, Prime Rib is my jam. It is a cozy little place. It has a bar on one side with a dining room on the other. We sat in the dining room. They had a few patrons there, but it wasn't busy at all around 6pm on Saturday. We both ordered the Prime Rib dinner. It came with garlic Texas toast, choice of potato, a vegetable, and the soup and salad bar. The Prime Rib came in a 10oz and 16oz cut, we both opted for the 10oz. The salad bar was ok. The soup was chicken vegetable and was pretty good. The prime rib was delicious. It was cooked correctly and to our preference (mine med rare and my wife med). It came on a plate with a flavorful Au Jus. We also both opted for a twice baked potato which was delicious. The garlic toast was tasty. The vegetable medley was ok. We were both very pleased with our meals. The price point was pretty decent as well, especially for what we ordered. We were also glad we got there when we did, because about 7pm, several people started arriving for dinner and the place was packed in no time. We will definitely be back. We overheard the waitress tell another couple about the Friday Night Buffet and my wife said we had to come back. For a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, this place is great. read more

What can i say that hasn't been said? Everything here is as good as i can make at home. But with no dishes to wash! Everything is made from scratch, the gravy on my hot roast beef sandwich was to be remembered. The beef slices were thick and so tender! Im pretty sure the bread it was served on was good, as well, I was just full by the time i got to it. read more

Kempton is a rural community in the middle of corn fields. We were looking for a different restaurant to try. Reviewed the menu online and was surprised that a small community has a restaurant with such a great selection. We went on a Tuesday and realized that it was Taco Tuesday. We decided to share Nacho Supreme. We were not sure if they were going to be enough food for two. As it turned out the plate was piled high and it was enough for two. We will come back to explore the large menu. We plan to come back for the Prime Rib on a Saturday night. read more

We were really excited to drive to Kempton and see what the hype was about....it's hype for sure! Ordered a New York strip and was definitely served the most gray piece of prime rib I've ever been served. Still tried to tell me it was a strip steak. Waitress didn't even know what cut of meat it was. Went and asked and she was told it was strip steak cooked "prime". Won't be back. Then to top things off if you use a credit/debit card there's a $1 surcharge on our already high $76 check total. read more

Really good! Take a drive to Kempton. This restaurant is clean, staff is pleasant and the food is really fresh and good. Homemade is the key here. None of that processed stuff. You can tell they take pride in this place. We will be going back! read more

Great diner style restaurant/bar with a large menu, good quality comfort food, generous portions, friendly staff, excellent service, and a lot of bang for your buck! Very reasonable prices, (downside $1 surcharge on credit card purchases). More diner than bistro style, so be aware that the emphasis is more on comfort food than trendy food. We opted for the Wednesday night special of BBQ ribs, and the dinner included soup and salad bar, both soup choices (ham and bean; chili) were excellent. The salad bar was good, not a huge variety, but more than enough choices of dressings, fresh vegetable toppings, hard boiled eggs, and croutons. Kind of basic without too many extra salads, no fruit, but both the potato salad and the macaroni salad were the bomb. The ribs were very tender, not sure how they prepare them, they tasted more slow cooked than smoked, and the sauce was very good (a little too sweet for my preference, and good flavor, but would not be at the top of my list - everyone has their own preferences though), the baked potato was gigantic! Garlic texas toast, very good, and green beans slow cooked, very home style with onions and bacon, my husband chose corn. We took most of the dinner home with us and obviously no room for dessert. The quirky mural on the outside of the building is worth the trip by itself. We will definitely be back, even though it's a little bit far. It's really nice to have such a homey and full service restaurant in such a small community, and was well worth the drive. read more
