I first noticed Juliet's when walking to work on the Queensway, and as a white girl who has very kinky, curly, frizzy, poofy, dry, textured hair, I noticed their specials board which included relaxing treatments and decent prices on hair extensions. Eventually, with an upcoming wedding and a dire need for pretty, long hair, I headed in. The shop is a bit worn-looking, with harsh lighting and very old, white shelves. There is absolutely nothing pretty about Juliet's -- it is a functional shop, to say the least. But it is well stocked both with standard favourites and the newest products. There are also as many shades and variations on extensions as there are in a fractured prism! If you head downstairs, you'll find the basement portion of the shop is dedicated to all things hair extension and weave. I had a bit of an unfortunate encounter with a sales lady down there. I was going in to find auburn-hued hair extensions with a curly, tough texture (read: white chick 'fro). I had asked upstairs, and they told me that more "textured" extensions were downstairs, and thence I headed. The woman was very polite, but told me that unfortunately, the hair downstairs was for women of colour, and wouldn't suit me. I pointed out that Lauren Hill and I had the same sort of hair, but she politely declined to sell me anything, as my hair wasn't, as she said, "black" hair. Thinking she knew best, I headed up stairs and purchased "white" hair. Fly Girls is the hair salon around the corner from Juliet's, but owned and managed by the same people. When I went in for my appointment to have the hair threaded in, the woman who was doing my hair asked why I had purchased straight hair. I explained my encounter to her, and she was very frustrated, and apologised profusely that I was treated "in such a manner". I wasn't really fussed, but she personally headed over to Juliet's, returned the straight hair and purchased the correct textured hair for me, from the downstairs section. She really went above and beyond that way, which was great. I don't think my experience was an entirely negative one, as the woman who refused to sell me hair was after all just trying to give me good service and the product she believed was right for me. Juliet's also have an in-house eyebrow threader which I've used. If you are picky about your brows, please don't use this woman's services. She did a fine job on my brows, as in, they were a nice shape, and there were no stray hairs. Also, at £5, the threading service at Juliet's is much cheaper than anyone else. But I specifically asked her to leave my brows thick, and when she finished, they were so thin I had to pencil them in afterward. All minor issues. Juliet's is a fab place to get all the beauty products you need, and even the ones you never knew you needed.

There's also a hair salon downstairs, where you can get your hair done as soon as you've purchased the hair but I've never tried this- maybe I will when I have more money as the prices are OK but a little too steep for me. As it's located in central Birmingham, Juliets is easy to find. It's about 2 minutes walk from New Street Station and round the corner from TK Maxx opposite the Bullring. The location of the store & salon makes it easily accessible if you are coming from out of town; as I used to visit Juliets when I lived in Derby.

They do everything you would expect from cut and blow dry, colours, relaxers, braiding to weaves. They also sell a wide variety of professional salon hair products. B In the City do both european and afro hair and what I have found is the service is quicker and I can be in and out in 90 minutes - 2 hours max whereby at other salons I could be there 6 hours just having a relaxer and cut!!! This will be my salon of choice for a while :-) There is a Beautician upstairs that does treatments, facials etc but I have not used this service so can not comment.

After meeting the staff there, i decided to go ahead with the micro-weft extensions. I had a semi-permanent colour on the thursday, very pleased with the results, followed by the first application of the micro-wefts on the saturday. they were put in then i had an up-do styled for my hen party. the finished look was FANTASTIC! i couldnt fault the work of the staff there, they were all so friendly and helpful, and needless to say, i have absolutely no worries about going back in a couple of weeks for the next do ready for my wedding- i have complete confidence that the final outcome will be equally if not even more spectacular!

It's a beautiful salon, and overlooks the green, so that won my vote before I'd taken about 2 steps inside the door. When I did, however, I was warmly welcomed, and surrounded by people with great haircuts. I knew I would do well here. And I did. I had Kevin - who everybody seems to love - and rightly so. Despite the fact that I normally like hairdressers to listen to what I think rather than just going off on their own merry accord, Kevin kind of took control - but all his suggestions were spot-on. I think I love him. I am planning on smuggling him out of there and installing him permanently in my house as my hair slave. It is pricey. It is not astronomical, but it is pricey. That said, I am yet to meet anything other than a very, very satisfied customer of this place - me included. They've not put a foot wrong, as far as I can tell. Keep up the great work, Kore!

There were a few products available to buy such as shampoo and conditioners but I didn't buy any as I get mine online. I haven't yet had my colour done here so I can't recommend that service, but for a quick trim and a cuppa this is a great place that isn't overly priced like a number of other city centre salons.

They were quite busy when I walked in, but the receptionist still gave me some time going through the different services that they offer. They do everything that you could possibly want and need from a leading and exceptional hair stylist. From micro-lites, bridal occasions, and even Brazilian blow dry! The prices for the treatments and haircuts are tiered depending on how experienced of a stylist you want. They have a style designer, a style director, an advanced director and even a senior director. I found the prices quite extortionate for what they offer. Although a nice salon, fitted well and experienced stylists, complimentary drinks and treats, this one isn't for me.

I will state that Paul is a personal friend from long before he had the salon however this doesnt affect my rating as im really particular about who cuts my hair! particularly my fringe - thankfully Paul has a steady hand as i like my fringe to be extremely precise! Good prices, a damn good cut and Paul is an absolute star. Ive recommended it to many friends who have all come away loving it - many are still going back again and again.
