    Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict

I love Tony's! It's a wonderful monster themed bistro with great food! It's a busy place so be sure to get there early if you want breakfast. The breakfast menu is awesome and has a nice mixture of dishes on it. I recommend The Paulie Walnuts (Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict)

    Breakfast!

There'll be few days in Cork where you'll have to apply sunscreen before getting breakfast but this was one of them. Sitting outside and it was like being on a foreign holiday, an the service was just as good if not better. From seats hitting chairs to food on the table was 10 minutes and it certainly didn't disappoint. Fry's for me an the git and it got devoured, my sons only quibble, the hash brown could have been crispier! A true Cork institution and good value for money as well!

    Delicieux!!!

J'avais mangé un cheesecake chez Tony's et c'était le meilleur à vie! J'ai pensé je vais y retourner 8 ans plus tard pour voir si c'est encore le meilleur et OUI! Deliiiiiicieux!!!

    Tony's fry up, so good.

The best place to get an authentic, full Irish breakfast. They also serve breakfast all day! We went with the original fry-up, which has an enormous amount of food for 14 euro. It comes with sausages, rashers, black pudding, white pudding, hashbrowns, onion rings, an egg, mushrooms, a tomato, a potato croquette, and of course beans! On top of that you also get 2 pieces of toast and a basket of chips. Safe to say we couldn't finish everything, but we came very close. It was crowded when we went around 2pm but tables opened up quickly.

Horrid, microwave-quality food, usually served cold and never with a smile. But at least the portions aren't small.

I love most of their menu items and I always get the Paulie Walnuts (salmon on toast with poaches eggs and hollandaise).

The market is a bustling bee hive of produce farmers, butchers, chocolatiers, of local and organic fresh food to include spices and an abundance of gastro delights from afar. The all wood construction and arched ceiling of this 18th century building make it visually appealing to add to the sensory adventure of fresh and cooking food. Farmgate is a bit small as most European cafes are but was rich in its menu offerings! I made reservations via Open Table for lunch for myself and was greeted at the stairs as seating goes all around an atrium open air looking down on the market below. My server carefully considered my food intolerance to gluten and dairy and made sure I was ok with butter, the service was top notch, not rushed and not invasive as I sat and slowly sipped in the scenery and scents. I ordered a chicken with lentils, parsnips, and carrots and the chicken was herbed nicely, moist and succulent served over tasty lentils that were not bitter but light and full of flavor, buttery parsnips and carrots not overcooked. I had some extra vegetables as a replacement for the mashed potatoes as they have cream in them and the veggies were crisp and fresh. The menu options are extensive for the size of the kitchen and obviously benefit from having fresh seafood, butchers and produce downstairs such that they had some of everything on the menu! You can tell the cook/chef takes pride in his preparation and the presentation was artistic as well. The thick wooden tables and height ceilings gave this place a feeling of long standing history and the staff appeared pleased to work there in this historic setting, making good fresh local food to share. I highly recommend this cafe as a must do for Cork! The prices were very reasonable, the service and food came without an arduous wait, a memorable experience in a town of high food standards!
