The store was extremely busy when I arrived. They were having a sale with great prices. I was looking for bridal shoes and was very particular. I nice young man came to my aid and made many suggestions and even pulled a few pairs in my size on his own accord. After seeing my wedding dress he gave me very honest opinions about each pair. He spent well over 40min with me and never once was anything but friendly and smiling. Even another female staff member came over to chat and help me say yes to a beautiful pair of shoes. What also made me love this store even more was their dog. He came over a few times for a pet, but mostly stayed in his bed sleeping. I just wanted to put him in my bag and take him on home with me! I assured him that any "reputable" shoe retailer would take back the shoes with a refund since they were not used outside the house. Apparently, I was wrong with regard to Closeout Shoes. You see they have signs in the store that say "ALL SALES FINAL" that neither of us noticed. When the purchase was made we were not given any VERBAL warning about their unusual store policy. In all my years of dealing with this retailer, I have never noticed these signs before. The owner refused to offer a refund of in spite my family's years of loyal patronage. My takeaway from this is that in her mind, enforcement of store policy is far more important than customer care. caveat emptor!

Once this approval was sent, I could only return them to certain locations. Unfortunately these locations were over an hour drive to get to. My last option was to pay to ship them to a North York address. Of course this cost me over $30 by using Canada Post to return these boots. I guess it was my fault not to thoroughly investigate their return policy but figured since most stores had a return to a store policy in place. This company would have the same. I was sadly mistaken.

Shoppers browse around the store, and the shoe sizes are stacked on the shelves, so there's no need to ask the employees to fetch you sizes or colours. The shoe selection is impressive. They had a huge variety of brands as well as shoe types. I consider this very convenient, since you have all the brands and shoe types in one place, as opposed to visiting ten different shoe stores in order to get a broad selection. I also consider it extremely cheap relative to buying these shoes new from other stores because Shoes 22 often has sales where you get really good deals (ex. Guess shoes which were normally $150 cost $120 at Shoes 22, and then were on sale for 50% off). I will mention, however, that although it does have a large selection, it doesn't have everything (for instance, I noticed they didn't have converse, nor was there a selection of specific kind of shoes like skate shoes, for example). Overall, I gave it 4/5 because it's very comfortable to shop at, has an enormous variety of shoe types and brand names, has quality shoes, and good prices.
