We were staying in Marquette with our two pups (two pit mixes), and we needed to board them for the…read morenight with little notice. I called many of the local dog daycare/boarding locations but all of them were booked or were not taking new dogs. Then came The Animal Inn to the rescue! They quickly responded to my voicemail and were able to take both dogs that day! After a few minute conversation about our dogs, their vaccination records, and where to locate the facility, we were all set up and dropped the dogs off about an hour later. The whole process was very easy, and once in-person with the staff it is very clear that they are experienced and care about your dogs. They gave us many options and asked us many questions to make sure both us and the dogs would be comfortable with their stay. I also liked that I could bring in bones from home for them, but it was also nice that they have blankets and everything there so I didn't have to bring all of their belongings with us. When we picked them up, the staff member told us that one of our dogs wouldn't come inside after playtime and gave the staff a smiling grin with her squinted eyes - which is a clear sign to me that they let our dogs have fun and that they were enjoying themselves, because that's her exact behavior at home when she's happy. For the two dogs boarded together with additional play time at night and in the morning, it was $57! I still can't get over that. Our daycare at home is $50 per dog per night with no added extras. I would absolutely bring our dogs back if we're in the Marquette area again, and anyone looking for boarding should feel comfortable bringing their pups here as well.

After this last stay, they will never go back and I wouldn't recommend anyone else send your dogs here. Our dog showed up on a harness, which we told them couldn't stay on her. They left it on her all weekend and now she has a huge infected hot spot under her neck. When I called to ask the place about it the owner pretty much said "oh well sorry I wasn't here when your dogs were" and "I guess I'll chew out the other people working there". When I asked to be reimbursed for the vet bill I will now have, she yelled "send me the damn bill I guess I'll pay it" the place takes no accountability for what happens to your dogs under their care.

That's not for the installation of the wire, training or anything else. Just the basic, simple dog collar. I really wish I would have been made aware when I purchased and had installed the system that their replacement collars were so stupidly expensive. That is half the cost of one of those more up-to-date, portable, changeable GPS fencing systems by Halo or Cesar Millan. In hindsight, I should've purchased one of those systems first instead of wasting my money on the Invisible Fence brands.

Well, there's a great alternative, you can have someone come to your home and care for your pets, walk them and feed them while you're out of town and they'll have all of the comforts of your own home instead of a small cage. We use Jennifer for our golden retriever whenever we have to head out of town and she's great about getting him out for walks and spending some QT with him. She's insured and bonded as well and can do a range of pets. Give Tails to Scales a call instead of sending your pets to mini jail cells! They'll thank you when you get back!

The staff is super friendly, and I love how they have the cat rooms where anyone can go and just cuddle and play with dozens of cats.Nothing solves a bad day like having little balls of purr run up to get cuddles. I always feel my heart break when at shelters I see just rows of tiny cages or closed off rooms where you have to ask a staff person to see a cat, having them out and about gives you a chance to actually see their personalities and look for your purrfect friend. They do have some cats in cages, but that's more for cats that are awaiting testing results or cats that like their privacy or are still getting used to the place. The dogs are in a more traditional kennel setting, but every week my fiance and I go to walk dogs, and all the dogs we have walked have been friendly and in great health. Plus, if you are looking to get some more activity in your week, I would definitely advise coming and walking some dogs, since they are right on the Nara Nature Trails, so you get to see some breathtaking views while walking. I also like that the staff isn't pushy with adopting. Too many shelters I have been to you get 'hard sell' like tactics when you show interest in an animal, here, they let you browse on your own, and are very unobtrusive. If you have a question they are eager and ready to help, but if you let them know you are just looking they let you go at your own pace. As we just moved and have 2 cats and a wedding coming up, it's refreshing to be able to spend time with the animals without being guilted into taking another one when we can't. That alone is enough for the 5 stars....I wish I could give more!!! Their website is very informative, and they also have a facebook page, and they keep people very up to date with new events and are very prompt with posting when strays are brought in to help find their owners.
