The staff could not be more friendly or helpful. Anne was our cashier, signed us up for the rewards programs and pointed out a few ways to make our dollars go further. She is super knowledgeable, very attentive and treated us like valued regulars on our very first visit! With a quick walk-around we were planning a second bird feeder station, trying on some snow gear and even looking at some new blue jeans. It was fun to shop here. We came home with a rugged outdoor vest of many pockets and cozy slippers. Open parking lot, very accessible entrance and so many quality items - we are big fans and future frequent shoppers!

The vet was closed and not answering the emergency line. We are from southern Illinois....so this was an anxious situation. We went to PetSmart and the employee couldn't help us there. She referred us to Mares-Z-Doats. The employees were eager to help. They sold me homeopathic drops which I immediately gave him and he has went from hardly being able to get a breath to no coughing for five hours now. The staff is super friendly, and I love how they have the cat rooms where anyone can go and just cuddle and play with dozens of cats.Nothing solves a bad day like having little balls of purr run up to get cuddles. I always feel my heart break when at shelters I see just rows of tiny cages or closed off rooms where you have to ask a staff person to see a cat, having them out and about gives you a chance to actually see their personalities and look for your purrfect friend. They do have some cats in cages, but that's more for cats that are awaiting testing results or cats that like their privacy or are still getting used to the place. The dogs are in a more traditional kennel setting, but every week my fiance and I go to walk dogs, and all the dogs we have walked have been friendly and in great health. Plus, if you are looking to get some more activity in your week, I would definitely advise coming and walking some dogs, since they are right on the Nara Nature Trails, so you get to see some breathtaking views while walking. I also like that the staff isn't pushy with adopting. Too many shelters I have been to you get 'hard sell' like tactics when you show interest in an animal, here, they let you browse on your own, and are very unobtrusive. If you have a question they are eager and ready to help, but if you let them know you are just looking they let you go at your own pace. As we just moved and have 2 cats and a wedding coming up, it's refreshing to be able to spend time with the animals without being guilted into taking another one when we can't. That alone is enough for the 5 stars....I wish I could give more!!! Their website is very informative, and they also have a facebook page, and they keep people very up to date with new events and are very prompt with posting when strays are brought in to help find their owners.
