It's not worth me leaving a rate. The first time that I came to this spot, the attendant was really nice and it was clean. The second time I came here, I thought I finally found a place to give my business to. Welp... today, I came to do my laundry and started to remove my white clothes as the cycle ended. Upon removing them, I discovered that they were still dirty and dripping water. I went to the attendant to explain the site and asked if I could get a free wash, he told me to call the number posted on the wall without giving two F...s. I told him that I wasn't coming here anymore and he said that he didn't care. I moved my clothes to another washing machine in hopes of them coming away clean. walked in to do laundry at the Berlin location. It is dirty and disgusting the floors look like they haven't been cleaned in forever . the attendant seems to be high out of his mind as I asked for quarters to get my son a drink and he placed the dollar on the counter walked into the back room and came out an hr or so later tons of people walked in and walked out due to other customers advising the new ones how the attendance is at the moment. bathroom is dirty no toilet paper and long behold nobody to ask as the attendant can't stay focused long enough to function . when he is present he is swaying and falling asleep standing up behind the counter this will be a first and last time for me read more

Okay, a little different than my usual "eating out" write-ups, but this place deserves a good word. Especially because it's a little-old laundry mat. Actually, its a lot more. A huge, clean, safe place to come with one basket, or three car loads of laundry, and still get it all done. All the machines use one convenient TOP KAT laundry card, just like a debit card you add money to, and then swipe through machines. No more quarters!!! Plus, drying time is FREE!! It couldn't get better. Plus, its right down the street from Doogies, so we always stop for our favorite hot dogs during the drying cycle. :) happy washing! read more

We recently buried our old dryer on Tombstone Hill and the new machine ordered from the Sears & Roebuck catalog could not be delivered before we would start to smell like the 3 little piggies. I checked Yelp for nearby laundromats and Top Kat was listed as top gun in our area. We hitched up old Bessie to our wagon and made the short trip to Top Kat with the only hold-up coming when we had to ford across the Berlin turnpike. We found the laundromat to be large, exceptionally clean and had such amenities as a pop machine and an inside water closet. With both of us being tenderfoots (or is it tenderfeet?), we required some assistance from the lady behind the counter. She said we could trade in a few gold nuggets for a little yellow plastic card which we then inserted into the machines. We were then instructed to add some liquid soap and softener. Glory Be, those machines commenced to sudsing and tumblin' all by them their selves. Me and ma just sat back in amazement as our clothes took to tumblin' over and over for near on 45 minutes. We were expectin' it to cost us some more gold nuggets to dry them clothes, but the employee said the dryin' was on them. Hallelujah and pass the fabric softener! Now watchin' those dryers turned out to be even more excitin' then watchin' the washers because every 10 minutes or so the dryers stopped and we got to insert that little yellow card right back into those machines. Can I get an Amen? The only drawback, as ma and I see it, was when everything was dry as a pussy willow we still had some unused tumblin' time left on that little old yellow card, the counter person said she could not reimburse us even one gold nugget. I told ma, hell we be havin' so much fun maybe we'll come back tomorrow and wash the dog. read more

I had a couple of loads of clothes in the dryer that was on for 40 minutes. Came back about 10:45 to take them out the dryer. Door lock and lights out!!!! Hours are 7-12am. Why were they closed after 10:30pm. I called another Top Kat and was told that if they finish their work earlier that they can leave ! Smh what a big joke! read more

Owner micro manages staff. This week: The VTN MACHINE TOOK MY $20 and didn't credit my card. Employee had to wait for owner to be called, when he didn't respond twice. Then the employee texted. Thereafter, the owner credited my card remotely. Doesn't he trust his staff to make such decisions less than $50. The owner has zero respect for his employees and customers by micromanaging so poorly. Last week: I put enough money to dry clothes for 69 minutes. They came out asking wet. No laundermat attendant around to correct problem. So I took them to another laundromat to dry. Waste of my money and time! The week before: Washer #4 took my money but washer wouldn't start. Attendant again being micromanaged couldn't do anything. A nice young female supervisor was contacted who instructed her to do nothing, as she was in route to laundermat. You've got to be kidding! So I the paying customer had to wait 17 minutes for her arrival. read more

I knew there was a catch to all this "free drying" nonsense. These guys aren't a value, they're common crooks. What Top Kat's posted signage tells you (paraphrased): "Free drying time at Top Kat laundromat. There is a limit, but based on our system, you should always have ample free drying time on your card." What Top Kat does not post ANYWHERE in the laundromat: "If you actually do run out of drying time on your card, the system starts CHARGING YOUR CARD EXTRA if it has money on it." Indeed, this happened to me, and I found my card two dollars shorter than it should have been. Ready for the reason? With use of the 30lb. washer, you only get 20 minutes of free drying time in the large size dryer, which was definitely necessary for the amount of laundry I had... That bears repeating: TWENTY MINUTES of drying time. Are you KIDDING ME? I don't care how big the dryer is, the freakin' HADRON SUPERCOLLIDER couldn't dry a large batch of clothes in twenty minutes. Long story short, I used my remaining card credit to buy laundry detergent, gave away my card, and stormed out. Peace out, theives... read more

One of the washers didn't rinse my clothes well and management didn't want to refund my money or help in any way more than just three dryer cycles. I used to go for years and will no longer go. read more

Once every two weeks, I pack up my laundry and head on over to TopKat. I checked out three different laundromats before finding this one, and all three of them were your typical grungy laundromats. TopKat is extremely clean, with a lot of washers and dryers. I've never had to wait for a machine. They use a card that you load with money, and once you've washed you have a certain amount of free drying time - if you do happen to need extra drying their prices are reasonable. They have four different size washers (I love the 80 lb washers!) and two different size dryers. The prices for each size machine varies, but it is well worth it. All the employees are great, any problems you may be having they'll do their best to help. In closing I'm glad that I use TopKat, because in the end it is actually cheaper than using the machines in my apartment building. read more

I cannot believe that at my age I am back to the laundry mat, but I am on a project in CT that requires me to be in corporate housing that is sans washer or dryer. Ergo off to the laundry mat I go. While this is a large and clean facility, my first impression would have been 4 to 5 stars. However after another 2 visits and finding that the washing machines tend to leave residue on my clothes from prior users my rating has dropped. I know there is residue because I have never and will never use anything with perfumes or scents on my clothes. However when I take things out of the washer I often smell the remnants of fabric softener. One other item I am trying to figure out is why my white clothes have immediately become somewhat grey after only 3 washes here. I am a bit OCD with respect to my clothes, so it is probably a good thing that I do not have to worry about any women seeing that my tighty whities are now more like tighty greyies. I will be happy when I am back using my own washer and dryer, but at least this laundry mat is acceptable for now, though I think I will look elsewhere. read more

I had a TERRIBLE experience tonight at Top Kat. Is it possible to give zero stars? Whenever we get backed up on laundry I visit this laundromat a few times a year...I will NEVER return here!!! I arrived shortly before 9 PM only to find that their ATM machine was broken. I had enough cash to load one huge $15 machine but I needed to find an ATM machine to get more cash. I asked the 23 year old dark-haired male attendant what time they closed. He said "last wash at 10PM". I said "We need to be dried and gone by 10?" He replied "No, you have to put your clothes in the washing machine by 10." This was good news for me. I had plenty of time. I finished emptying my car of the second huge load for a second $15 machine. This took several trips back and forth to my car. I then left and drove down the Berlin Turnpike looking for an ATM. I saw Walmart and decided I could kill two birds with one stone...get my dog a new toy and then get cash back at the register for my second huge load. When I arrived back at the laundromat I was greeted with "You have to get those things out of here. You have to get those things out of here." It took me a second to realize the attendant was talking to me. I asked "What do you mean?" He replied last wash is at 10." I said "I know. It's 9:52." He went on to tell me that I couldn't just leave my stuff there and "where did I go anyway". I explained that I went to Walmart to get cash because their ATM was broken. I reminded him that we had discussed the broken ATM and he had told me there was no other way to access cash on the premises. The attendant seemed to take joy in the fact that he wasn't allowing me to throw the rest of my laundry in even though I still had 8 minutes before the time he had previously told me. He even smiled. I told him that he was very rude and he told me that they open tomorrow at 7. I then unloaded my second huge washer of things that never got washed and taking several trips back to my car again with dirty clothes. He told me that since I was the only one there that I couldn't throw in my things. I hope the owner checks the cameras. There were three other customers still doing laundry. I told him I understand that he wants to go home but that he shouldn't have told me 10 if that wasn't really the time. He wasted my time. I wouldn't have driven all the way to Walmart and back. I dried and folded my huge load from the first washer. As I was leaving I said make sure you read my yelp review. He responded that he spoke to his manager and she told him that he shouldn't have let me fold my clothes!!! What?!? I can't even fold my clothes from my first load? The ones that I put in the washer at 9 and into the dryer at 9:55??? I am so confused by this horrendous customer service. As I was leaving the 23 year old dark haired male attendant continued to tell me that last wash was at 10PM. I reminded him that I was trying to put my clothes in at 9:52...He stared at me like he couldn't understand why I wasn't accepting his reasoning. Maybe he doesn't understand how a clock works? He went on to tell me that he "did not give me permission" to just leave my stuff. I reminded him about our previous conversation about the ATM not working and that he had told me there was no other way to get cash on the premises. This establishment has lost my business forever. Not only did the attendant have issues but the manager told him not to let me fold my clothes?!? There were three people after me who folded their clothes. Watch the cameras. This place is disgustingly dirty. I put my clothes in one of their washers and ALL the clothes came out of the washer with hair ALL OVER them. I don't have a pet and I put each article of clothing in one by one. There was no hair on the clothes when I put them in. So I complained to the attendant. Her response was that it's dog hair that must have been on the inside of the machine from a previous wash. She said to put everything in the drier and then after I can borrow a lint roller to get the remaining hair out. I couldn't believe what I was hearing!! I told her that first of all I don't put all my clothes in the driers and more importantly the clothes instead of being cleaned, came out with dirty hair all over them that wasn't on them when I put them in! I asked her to run a different machine for me because her machine made my clothes dirty, not clean. She said no because she can give refunds only when a machine doesn't work! So I then looked closely at some of the other machines. The inside of the doors have dirt and some hair all over them. I ran my finger along just a small area and it came out caked in dirt! Awful customer service and poor cleaning. They can't get rid of any stains (but charge you) and use too much heat on pants. This results in patterns pressed into the pants that do not go away. Heaven forbid if you raise the issue. They turn it around and blame YOU the customer!!! Stay away! read more
