PLUS...being a nurse I understand the need to practice the skills that we are taught in school and the need to "practice". Plus, I knew my hair would grow back and the instructors would be around. Arahim did a really impressive job on my hair color and especially my trim. I have curly hair and learned that I have a natural "shape" which I never knew, but was able to see the next day! My color was just a touch up on my greys (I am at the stage in my life ) and enhanced the color on my ends (it's ombré). It looked refreshed and I never realized how much of a difference it would make (I'm not big on chemicals so don't get my hair colored often) in my look (aka younger ). I LOVE what Aveda has to offer because I'm all about natural products and absolutely LOVE their students! I am soooo sad they are shutting down their Tallahassee location because I truly believe in their mission. Also...I've read some bad reviews, but I take reviews like that with a grain of salt. 1. My really good experience here was getting my hair dyed. I got partial copper highlights and the Lady was a senior student and did a phenomenal job. I'm very pleased with the results and she was also very knowledgeable to answer my questions. When I was there, they had complementary beverages. Hot or cold, so that is something very nice when you're waiting for your appointment.

We are half way through the semester and im in their central sterilization tech class that is a required pre rec. to the surgery tech program. We have not had a single class or lab and they have yet to be able to hire someone to fill the position. Meaning as of rn there is no teacher for the surgery tech portion next semester as well. We are left to learn on our own with only a textbook which wouldn't be a issue if the material in the text book matched what we were tested on but it does NOT. I just had to take the mid term for the class and it is full of questions programed with wrong answers. Showed up for my med. terminology class this morning. The teacher for that was a no show. No text, e-mail, or even a note was left on the board. But we were told by multiple people she was in the building. There was a guy in the nursing program who was in the office same time as me and a classmate looking for our teacher and he was filing a complaint on an instructor who was making inappropriate comments enough to the point it upset the entire class. And it feels like the dean Frank is never any help. When you bring up an issue he diverts it to someone below him. If you want anything done or any answers you have to go above him. My classmate and I have asked for partial refunds for services that we paid for but did not receive and have of course not been given anything back.

After a quick safety check and talk about where we were going we were off. He led us in and out of coves and over springs, pointing out birds, gators & turtles we would not have noticed without him. He told us interesting tidbits about the critters, history of the area and some very disheartening facts about the environmental degradation happening over the last few years around the Wacissa. And he helped make sure our technique was good and we were all having fun as we paddled up & downstream. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tommy and the Florida Kayak School to anyone.
