Be ready to be the customer and a foreman. When you talk to them, they'll promise the moon, and then do nothing, not write it down, communicate to the workers, show up, etc. Scheduling was a bit of a nightmare- and I got that there was a lot of rain this summer- but communication stunk. The end product looks nice (which solely goes to the workers), it's just the slab doesn't match what was contracted for. If you use them, expect to be there the whole time holding their hand. Most frustrating contracting experience I've had in a long time. Oh, and if you try to discuss it with the owner, he'll tell you, "well, we get good reviews" and won't try and fix anything. It was a difficult job because the existing concrete driveway had a 3" asphalt cap on top of it which first had to be torn out and taken to a separate processing facility. Steve personally came out to give me a quote and was very knowledgeable about what needed to be done and the best way to accomplish it. The price was great and we knew about the quality of his work on other projects, so we chose Steve's Construction for the job. The next part is; WOW! The communication, the scheduling, showing up on-time, staying on budget..., Everything was perfect! And what a team!! The whole process from start to finish took only 3 days. First, they gave me a quote FAST. They knew my neighborhood and driveway sizes, used a Google…read moresatellite image, and the price was fair (competitive to other quotes). Didn't need to "come see me" and engage in high pressure, pushy sales process. Communicated completely by Email which was respectful of my time. Let's face it. It's just a driveway. Then they showed up when they said they would. Three guys jumped out and started working. They did everything I saw in the YouTube videos when I was considering doing this myself. See, in the past, I feel like the companies I hired did the bare-minimum and didn't do quality work (something I realize even more after all my YouTube research about trying to do this myself). Victory used a crack-filling machine NO OTHER COMPANY used in my 20 years of having this driveway. WOW. They worked slowly and carefully like I would if doing the work myself. Slowly letting the crack fill seep into the crack ...back tracking and refilling the deeper cracks. They filled ALL THE CRACKS ...the two big/deep cracks and the couple smaller cracks and then all the "spider web" cracks along the edges. And Victory did this without getting tar or sealant on my grass. I didn't see a sprayer. Instead they spread the sealant by hand. Slowly. Carefully. My driveway looks as good as the day I had it poured. I'm not kidding. No other company I hired over the years came anywhere close to the quality of work and the look of the final product as Victory Paving. I feel very confident, now, that my driveway is ready for winter (snow, ice, melt, freeze, repeat) and I can probably get another decade out of my asphalt driveway if I invite Victory back every two years.

The most difficult part of the job was the pitch of the roof and how close my neighbor's homes are to my house. The crew put up scaffolding and took down the damaged chimney and built a new chimney in the same day. My neighbors didn't even know they were there. Crews cleaned up after the job was done. I wanted 2yds of triple shredded hardwood. The owner answered and then showed up and told me my mulch is free because he miscommunicated and he stated the website wasn't updated. I only asked for 2yds but I'm sure he loaded me up more. He was a really nice guy. I'll only go here from now on because of this experience.
