I did a "kit" which saved me a chunk of money. the walls and trusses came pre assembled, and everything came pre cut minus a few trim pieces. I'm not certain how many hours this saved me, but I'm certain it was a lot. For $10k, I expected a better build quality. There are plenty of visible "good enough" fixes that kind of bug for a brand-new build. Examples include (1) paint that was thinly applied, (2) they got paint droplets all over the Trex decking, so tried to remove it with gasoline, but still lots of evidence, (3) moved some structural supports, and one that supports the corner isn't even nailed down, (4) moving posts left holes, so they just filled them in with caulking and painted over it, etc. Overall, I like the shed, but there a number of quality issues that remind me it's not a 5-star build (and I'm resigned to the fact I'll have to fix them myself). read more

We purchases a 10x24 Fully Finished inside with solar included and it has been the best addition to our camping spot. It is very well insulated and the solar addition works great. Installers could not speak any English, zero. Very hard to communicate exact needs to fix. Installers promised to fix, then did a no show, after we traveled 80 miles to cabin. I hade to reschedule and make another trip to fix. Installers forgot the proper size 2x4's to fix, just reversed the bent 2x4 and called it good. This company refuses to use quality materials on doors to make them work and close so animals and wasps stay out. Their excuse, "Lumber tends to warp after it comes out of the bunk. Sometimes when my shop pulls them out of the bunk, they're straight, but tend to warp over time. Not all two by fours will warp, but unfortunately, we can't predict what will and what won't." This is a load of BS. You know which ones are quality and will not warp by the end grain and setting aside the lumber to dry properly for a 3-4 days. They actually, from what i could see, used the worst material in the most critical places. Poor shop planning and in the end poor costumer quality and service. read more

I guess I should update on the shed.... So the company finally did come out and get the cat door that was leaking water into my shed fixed however it took almost a month of arguing back and forth for it to happen and then three weeks for them to constantly flake on me to actually show up. When they did come out, they cracked my exterior wall around the cat door so it's just one freaking issue after another. I haven't messaged the owner back cuz at this point I'm honestly just sick of them messing it up more and having to argue with them to come out and help fix it when it's under warranty and these are issues when it was built. I've spent thousands of dollars over 5500 to be exact (and with all the issues likely more) for them to build it in the first place and how I wanted it. The owner argued with me to also seal up the cat door for a week after I told him no because I wanted the door and they installed it for me and told me back in 2019 that they could do it. I talked to three people and they all told me it wouldn't be an issue, so I went with them. Had I known what a nightmare working and dealing with them would have been I would have gone with someone else. This shed has an 8 year warranty. They are suppose to fix the things on it. I have done nothing on it other than add the interior walls to it and the flooring which I have to replace on some due to water damage. I should also add that the owner told me that they will frame it in, add a drip covering for the cat door to keep water out and seal it all in. Only the caulking was done sooo again it wasn't done to how I was told it would be once again. I have had multiple issues over the years with Top Shed and at this point it's honestly ridiculous to get them to come out and fix it right sooo. Here's to now fixing my exterior wall that the workers drilled through and freaking cracked. If you want quality work do not buy from this company..cuz clearly they don't give a shit about their work nor fixing this right in the first place after you pour thousands of dollars into having something custom built. Running a 501c3 while also working full time I don't have time to wait around for weeks for someone to come out to fix things that shouldn't have needed to be fixed in the first place nor should I have to keep asking them to come back and fix things. I also don't have more money to pour into having the same things fixed when again it should have been done right the first time. Here is a review I did 3 years ago on an issue with them using 100s of screws in my dormer and having the paint start cracking. Had another company build one for us a few years ago. Should've gone with them again. Top shed uses studs 24 inch on center (weak). Their doors are even worse. Wind blows hard it pops both of the double doors open! Poor locking mechanisms and the side door locking unit barely does its job. I had a bad experience with Top Shed and would not recommend them. Before hiring top shed I received 4 bids and Top Shed was definitely the lowest and their reviews seemed to be the highest, so I thought it was a safe bet. Cohen was easy to talk with and overall a nice guy. My shed was large (16' x 23') with a covered porch (7' x 23'), 10 foot walls and a large dormer. This made the job complex and Top Shed might be good for small shed projects that are less complex. Pros - Owner is easy to talk with and tries to please the customer. - Price is much lower than competition. - Eventually they did fix all the issues that were fixable. Cons - Workers are inexperienced and often working without someone there with proper knowledge. - Workers do not check for plumb, level or square until after the roof is on and then try to fix it. - Much of wood and studs used is warped and caused bows in the walls that are beyond normal tolerances. - Sloppy paint job with drips everywhere. Workers scratched up cement cleaning up paint splatter. - Lack of communication. I rarely knew what days they were coming and what days they were not. - Significant re-work to get the structure properly built. Had to cut off anchors twice that were drilled into cement. Also, had to rebuild walls. - Had to lift shed with jack and put in wedge pieces. This was due to a slight slope in the cement which was not Top Shed's fault, but would have been a lot easier if they would have identifies the issue earlier when putting up the walls. - Chunks taken out of cement by dropped tools (4 areas and this was new cement that had cured for over a month). - Drinking alcohol on the jobsite. - Project took over 1 month and originally was going to be done in less than 1 week. I was more interested in quality so this did not bug me too much, but the communication of the delay could have been better communicated. Overall the shed did get built and I'm ok with it for the price, but I would not hire them again if I could go back and do it again. I'm glad that they were able to fix most issues I brought up, but it was definitely a stressful process and some items I just decided it would be easier to fix myself rather than having them try to fix it based on their lack of knowledge. read more

You know the old saying "you get what you pay for" ? Well it is so true with Top Shed... after getting various quotes we selected the shed kit from Top Shed and decided to put it together ourselves. We had TS build the walls and doors then we would assemble it. My husband has over 20 years experience so it should have been REALLY EASY. BIG MISTAKE!!! They say no additional cutting needed but that wasn't true, we ended up using a cop saw and saws all. Not only were the 2x4s bowed but many were the incorrect length, the 4x4s for the base were also warped, the ply wood for the floors was to wide and needed to be trimmed before the bottom part of the walls would align. The doors and walls were not built flush or straight. There was water damage to the exterior walls that looked like bubbles that had cracked. So if cost is the most important thing to you and you have construction experience then this is the shed for you.... if you don't have experience I would suggest a different supplier. read more

We had a 10x10' shed built. The crew of two men completed the job in 4 hours. We are overall satisfied with the shed however, we are disappointed with the quality of lumber used and areas of workmanship. Numerous 2x4's were in bad condition (warped, frayed etc) and painting the inside was a nightmare! If "less than construction" grade lumber is a standard practice, I would have preferred an optional cost item to upgrade the lumber. In addition, the men who installed the unit using a nail gun missed the wall studs at least 54 times leaving nails visable inside the unit. I would recommed this company but would suggest these issues should be discussed before construction begins. read more
