This week, Marsha sent my sister an email stating that she was cancelling my sister's reservation for another wedding of 350 guests. Apparently someone is being deployed, and my sister's date was the only one that worked. I'm sorry, WHAT? The entire point of putting a deposit down on a date is so that someone else cannot book it out from under you. Not only that, but the least she could have done was called my sister instead of leaving it up to email. What if it had gone to spam? Additionally, she should have called around to other caterers to see who was available on that date, and then referred my sister to them (instead of making my sister scramble to find someone else). If I'm being REALLY honest, Marsha should have referred this other party to another caterer, but this one was going to make her more money than my sister's, so screw the smaller wedding, right? Unless you like to play things fast and loose when it comes to wedding planning, book a different caterer. She's clearly only driven by bigger paydays and will leave you high and dry at the drop of the hat.

The setting for Mountain Lake Lodge is very peaceful and restful. My wife and I had a great time…read morerelaxing in late April. We took several nearby hikes that were enjoyable, providing nice tree-filled views. The "gator tour" via the Outfitters was fantastic, driving around the property and learning the interesting history of the place. To be clear, this is not a "fru-fru" resort -- but it is in a very restful setting. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Christian, our waiter at the restaurant, was very nice and accommodating. The property itself is beautiful and historic. We booked a history tour by Gator and our guide, Beau, was knowledgeable and welcoming. We loved exploring the property and learning its history and seeing all the places where Dirty Dancing was filmed. I highly recommend Mountain Lake Lodge.
