My daughter has a family membership to DW, so I'm a frequent guest. Today's visit was extra special…read morebecause Summerfest is underway and a cruise ship (failed to take a photo ) was docked right next to DW. We always take a trip up to the Pilot House and then outside onto the high deck for terrific views of the lake, SF grounds, and everything else in the harbor (including a Milwaukee Fire Dept. fireboat). Staff are always welcoming and so very attentive to the children. We always make a stop at the food kiosk to get a snack (a selection of the usual packaged snack foods along with hot dogs and pizza). My biggest complaint is how slow and long the check-in process is. There's usually only one person at the check-in desk, and many days there need to be two. There's a line for members, but unless there are two staff members at the desk, what difference does it make? We waited with everyone else today, which makes having a membership feel like less of a great thing. But there still needs to be a quicker process. Today while I was at the front desk I watched a woman purchase tickets online, and even that was such a long and involved process I think i would've quit and gone home.

We came here on a Saturday and it was moderately busy yet we were able to see everything in a few hours. There are plenty of hands-on activities throughout for all ages and exhibits highlighting local individuals and companies as well. It's hard to say what my favorite area was because I enjoyed everything, but the aquariums, weather/ storm area and the corporate exploration station stick out in my mind as where I had the most fun personally. We didn't shop around the food or gift shop area but that could be an area we explore more next time. Discovery World is well worth the price of admission and the entire family is guaranteed to have fun while learning something new!

Wow! The jury is still out on whether Tristan Crist is a magician. (Does magic exist? This logical…read morelady is asking.). But certainly, Tristan is a great entertainer. I loved his show from start to finish. The venue is intimate but not small, if that makes sense. During the show, Tristan called on people, and the audience participation aspect made the show fun and interactive. I'm not really the audience for this kind of stuff. I am always looking for the catch, the tell, the slip-up. But with this show, it doesn't matter. Just sit back and be entertained by a man and his assistants who have amazing stage presence and keen sleight of hand. I thoroughly enjoyed the hour or so that I spent as this theatre. There's a short intermission in the middle of the show. They bring some products out for sale, like a magic set and coloring book for kids. Which reminds me: The magic shows are for all ages! Kids and adults will be equally entertained. They sell concessions before the show and during intermission. I didn't get anything, but they had popcorn, candy and beverages for sale, including water, soda, beer, wine and White Claws. At the end, you have the opportunity to take a photo with Tristan Crist himself in the lobby. I think that that's really cool of him to extend himself like that! You can tell that Tristan really loves his audience and the magic that he's making in Lake Geneva.

I went there for an event last night, but we got full reign of the museum. We did a scavenger hunt…read moreso we got to see every inch of this place. Chicago has a bunch of these smaller niche museum, but I thought this one was one of the better ones. It's an an historic house that would have overlooked the Lake before LSD existed. The exhibits were all pretty good, but my favorite was eye care. They had some great optometry artifacts and a collection of sunglasses over the years. They also have quite a bit of original art, mostly in sculpture form which is both odd, but still important. Another thing I liked was that it wasn't overly graphic. There's a plastic surgery section that has a few slightly unsettling portraits of people maimed during WWI. I mean, I kind of felt more bad for those poor people which I think was the point. If I were to give it all a rating, it's a light PG13. If there are any downsides, the place is a little on the expensive side for its size, but they're constantly running events that include admittance. They also seem to lean on some kind of artist or researcher that does a lot of dream stuff. I didn't like his stuff as much. Also, the sections are a little disorganized, but that might be spacing in issues. Either way, this was a pretty interesting place. I'm betting they do an awesome Halloween event because it's a little spooky, but all educational. The gift shop is neat too!

We were hoping to get on at Elegant Farmer and ride to the depot but opted to just go straight to the museum/depot instead due to the ticket instructions. We were irritated for leaving messages that were never returned. If you have questions, reach out via the contact us option on their website at least 2 days in advance and you should be good. They are doing a lot with a little and making it enjoyable for the kiddos. Probably won't return but happy we tried it.

They had trains doing rides every on the hour for a reasonable price and toddlers under 2 were free. Unfortunately, we didn't get to ride because the boys hadn't napped but it was so fun watching the trolleys and electric trains and hearing them go "choo choo" as my boys say. They had reasonable food - hot dogs and root-beer and model railroads to look at. My husband and k agreed that we will definitely bring the boys back next year and look forward to riding the trains! We also want to try the dinner train someday for a date night! How fun does that sound?!
