Me and my partner visited Topgolf Chigwell hoping for a quick game of golf and breakfast. The only truly positive part of this experience was Aaron (a tall, young staff member), who showed genuine professionalism, care and integrity throughout. Aaron took our order straight away and made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, after 45 minutes, our breakfast never arrived. What stood out was that we didn't even need to chase him. He approached us himself, apologised sincerely and explained that he had been trying to chase up the order with his team. This showed real responsibility and maturity. Aaron did not fail us - his team and management failed him. When we asked for a refund receipt, the manager avoided eye contact and did not speak to us directly, which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. There was no leadership presence or accountability from management. We observed several team members displaying poor attitude, lack of urgency and unprofessional behaviour. There was a serious lack of leadership on the floor. A good manager should support both guests and their staff - and in this case, Aaron was left to carry the situation alone. Aaron showed more leadership, integrity and emotional intelligence than the rest of the team combined. He should be recognised, supported, and valued - not left to fix problems created by others. This venue seriously needs to review staff attitudes and management standards. If people are unhappy in their roles, it reflects in their behaviour. Customers can feel that energy. Aaron is the standard - not the exception. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING THERE!!! I don't even know where to start with the absolute anarchy what is taking place here. There is no type of organisation at all between the staff ( headless panicked chickens) On arrival we was demanded to download and log in to the NHS app or we couldnt enter the building. After entering the building they tell you to go and pay for your 2 games of golf before you get a chance you registered for a bay what could take up to a hour to be ready. so already there taken your money of you and now suck with a 1 hour wait. so after you paid for your games and registered to wait for a bay. you now have to fight to find a table where you can sit and wait. but tables are limited. tables are hardly clean but you have to rush to get the space. once your at a table a server quickly come over to clear it and take your food and drink order and we paid straight away. drinks came out straight away sometimes in glass some in plastic cups. after waiting 45Mins and having our second drinks. we asked where my food was where the reply was it's a 1hr15 min wait on food. what they didn't m while ordering . another 45 mins later the WELL OVER COOKED food comes out and there still now avalible bay to play golf in. it's now been well over 2hr 30mins close 3hrs and I'm still waiting for a bay to play and spent well more than what I was planning to spend. I don't like they the make you pay up front and give you unrealistic wait times what they can't commit to... so you stay and so they can fleece you out of more of your money overall I would not recommend anyone coming here nor will I return and I most definitely will be talking people out of going to save them experience what I had to experience today read more

I'm probably naïve in giving this place 5 stars, as I have never been to any other golfing facility nor have I ever played golf before, but my unconscious mind is screaming "5 STARS" for some reason, and so 5 stars it shall receive. As I've said, I've never played golf before and often thought it was a sport for grandpas *pictured with grandpa hats on*. I signed up a 'taster' membership card, which allowed me a limited amount of days to try the place out. Once in, you and your party of friends are assigned to a station, from which you can strike away your balls into the golfing range. Your balls are tracked and your scores kept. And dont worry, if you don't have your own clubs, they have plenty there to lend (for free). Its great place to go by yourself or with larger groups of friends. After hitting a few balls, I became addicted! The 'taster' was all I needed. But the pièce de résistance was the food and service. Staff members are close by to take your orders and return with your food whilst you swing away. I definitely underestimated their food. It was actually... good. Great concept, needs better management. With topgolf you can compete against other players like you would at bowling, but it's the golf version. Great concept of diversifying a driving range, being able to get a few points if you don't know how to play or to get an accurate representation of where your balls go if you do play golf. The main issues with this centre, there was not clear instructions on where you had to go to book a lane, staff taking the money seemed inexperienced and had not idea what was going on, had to explain everything in basic terms and do the maths for them. Management of staff and centre is the biggest issue. We did end up waiting over an hour and a half for our bay, however they had a very useful website that tells you where you are in the que, so you can assess whether it's worth your time to stay or not. This is very business savvy, as it means you don't have to go back and ask the staff time and time again. Cost: A game: £6 (per game) Membership: £2 (one months membership) or £20 (lifetime membership) Food: Perfectly average sports bar food, service was lacking but the food was okay. read more

I hate golf. Well, I like it for three minutes, because I play like Tiger Woods. But then something goes wrong, then inevitably my confidence and concentration go, and I play out the rest of the day like Charlie Chaplin. Luckily, Top Golf isn't about playing 18 holes, which is the first thing that pleases me about the establishment. Top Golf is actually a driving range. For those of you that don't know, a driving range is a tradition dating back many years where men meet up, go to the range, hit balls as far as they can, then go home. And people call us simple. Anyways, Top Golf is a driving range for the Ipod generation. The balls have electric chips in them that tell you exactly how far you've hit them. Although I suspect mine were broken as they rarely registered further than three metres. Not only that, but there are different targets you can hit - which are identified by different colours. And therein lies the fun as there are many different games that you can play against friends/enemies - and all the scores get recorded electronically on a monitor which is right next to you. Again, I think ours may have been broken as I continually came in last, even when playing on my own. read more

Sooo for the actual concept whether you are a golfer, like sport or hate golf I think it's a great day out with a few friends or the family. Good for young kids, teenagers or adults. It's reasonably priced at £5.50 for 20 balls each (equates to one game) and includes the clubs which you borrow. However you also have to pay a member fee (£2 for a month or £15 for life) which is a bit ridiculous but hey. My main issue with this place is that it is so poorly organised. You can't book a timed slot on line so when we turned up we joined the queue then to find out we had joined the wrong queue. During the 15 minute wait the other queue had increased dramatically! Now we had an hour and a half wait until we would get our bay. We opted for the upstairs as it is a bit easier to actually get the ball in the nets (best if you aren't very good at golf or first time there) but downstairs was more like a 45 minute wait. So the aim of the game is to whack the ball and get it in the big nets which are spread out across the field. If you get it in the centre of one you get more points and the same for the further away you hit it. It's a lotta fun and hard to miss the nearer nets so don't worry about coming away with no points! Once you get your slot you have as long as it takes to hit all the balls between you. It scores it by assigning your balls to you, registering them and then recognising the balls when they hit the target. It's pretty clever really and very efficient but you have to make sure your ball is recognised otherwise you get no points. While we waited (1 hour 30 on the dot) we got some lunch. We went for the wraps and chips at £6.50 each. Reasonable value for massive portions and the food isn't as bad as you'd expect. Again service was so so slow. It took 15 minutes to get served and another 15 minutes to get our drinks but hey we had time to kill. For the idea I would give it 4* but for the service (there are so many staff who don't know what they're doing) I have to give it 2! I must admit, I was never a golf fan. Crazy Golf never went in my favour, and nine times out of the ten I'd miss the ball on my swing. Well, this was until I found TopGolf in Essex. TopGolf, for those of you are unfamiliar with it, is a driving range with a difference. Your balls are programmes with your name, and if you hit your ball into a certain area it adds up your points for you. It's made golf scoring a million times easier! Your bays that you play in are heated for the winter night, not that you need that in this glorious weather, but it does make TopGolf an all year round sport. Not only that, you also get Bay Service, where you can order food and drink to you area without lifting a finger. I must say, the food I had was amazing, and put a stop to my golfing antics so I could devour it all. With all of these privileges you'd think you'd be paying through the nose, but actually it's so well priced! Last time I went I paid less than twenty pounds for a months membership and 5 games. That's one hundred balls! I'd highly recommend a day trip out to TopGolf, or even try one of the TopGolf Nights with DJs, drinks deals all for the over 18s. It's one of my personal favourites for whiling away an afternoon, and that's not just because it's something I can beat the boyfriend at! read more

I came here with some friends for the first time a few months ago and only had to wait 10 minutes for a section which was great. It was really fun and it really doesn't matter if you aren't any good at it because it's a good laugh. We ordered food which I didn't find to be very nice but I wasn't expecting anything amazing anyway. Overall I had a good time. However, the second time we came we paid to play but they told us it would be a 45 minute wait as it was very busy, so we waited... And waited.... And waited... And hour passed and we hadn't had our number called yet so my friend went to go and inquire about how much longer the wait would be. The staff were extremely rude to my friend, making a game out of their customers by asking for an interesting fact in order to move us to the front of the waiting list. Despite this, we waited another 15 minutes and I went up myself to complain about the ridiculously long wait, as we could see sections available outside, and to complain about how they treated us. They were not helpful in the slightest and didn't apologise for their foolish behaviour. In the end I demanded my money back and we all walked out. When I go somewhere as a customer and spend my money I certainly don't expect to be treated like a joke by the staff! read more

Great fun for all ages, games are affordable and offer a taster card so you don't have to purchase membership the first time. Waits during peak times can be a couple of hours and booking is charged unless you are a gold card holder. Topgolf takes the repetitive activity of a driving range and makes it fun, vibrant and accessible across all ages. By introducing a scoring system, offering great food and drink deals plus a cool atmosphere it succeeds in providing an alternative to bowling, darts, pool etc. There are always bay assistants at hand to take food and drink orders so your game is not interrupted by having to queue at the bar and furthermore although the wait times can be on the long side for a bay during peak hours (over an hour at times) they have plenty of challenges (food) and entertainment via the big screen projectors, where they frequently showcase live sports. The game itself is quite fun and competitive with players rewarded for hitting the ball into the middle of the holes plus points for hitting holes further afield. Whilst on the more pricer side to most driving ranges, for the casual golfer who wants a bit of fun, food and drinks added to the game it is worth a visit, just be aware you may have to wait! read more

I love golf and driving ranges and this one is a step above the rest , a local hang out for me and my friends the prices depend on time and deals but if you pick your time book in advanced and put in the effort it's never a problem. Being a foodie the bar and food always appeal to me services fast and easy (except for the time we had a ditsy waitress who set a tab up for us without informing us on a Saturday night as we have always paid first we just forgot so luckily for the waitress I had a breakfast golf meeting the Monday morning so I could pick it up but beware that they don't do the same for you) Excluding that small incidence I always enjoy the food and the drink. I cannot recommend enough the nachos with chilli though you do have to ask for top ups on guac, salsa and sour cream. The onion ring towers and chicken wing bucket are also very good and they recently added a spicy wing challenge which I'll be sure to take next time I'm there A great place for any occasion :0) read more

I am a long time TopGolf customer, with years of service to the company in the UK. I have always had a pleasant time at TopGolf Chigwell, however yesterday was the worse experience I have ever seen. Yesterday I was with a group of friends, enjoying a good game on the top level, which can be hard to book on weekends. The evening started off good, with good music and service, even two managers I have not seen coming up to us and checking that everything is okay, which is something I have not experienced before. However, later on into the evening, a male member of staff was speaking to one of the managers (I believe), on the top levels. This member of staff then started to shout abusive comments towards TopGolf and the centre. He then stormed off on the top level, where he spoke to another member of staff, whilst the manager went down stairs to deal with the abusive member of staff. I recongized the manager as he was one of the above two new members who spoke to me and asked if there is anything else he could do for us. I found him and the other female manager very forward, proactive and most importantly friendly. So I was really shocked to see someone who works at TopGolf speak to another colleague in that regard, let alone a manager. This really showed TopGolf up and also myself, as I had brought friends and family down yesterday and promised them that they would really enjoy TopGolf. I now am considering moving on and not promoting TopGolf to my family but also to my professional circle who attend a number of TopGolf events each year. First time trying golf like most... i was pleased with the facilities and how nice the place was. My main issue would be the level of service i received from staff members and the attitude i had to put up with during the transaction. Which was very poor to be honest from your more "senior" members in the team. Lucky there was a young man called James who i cannot give credit to...he is a asset to your company. I had a difficult time with the deputy managers however James came, defused the situation assisted in bringing us to the table and even kept coming over to make sure we was ok...the sort of service the "team leaders" should have been giving I hope he does receive an acknowledgement for his fantastic customer service. My mother was on hold for one hour, she still hasn't managed to arrange her golf lesson because she is still waiting for a PGA professional to get back to her.
