We'd bought a voucher through Wriggle - hot dog & free flowing prosecco for £9.95 (1-4pm) & I must admit we weren't sure how it would live up to our expectation but we were both really pleased - our hot dogs were really tasty, although a little small to be classed as a meal, but the free flowing prosecco was exactly that! After being given a wrist band to show that we were in the prosecco club, we never had an empty glass, staff wandered around all afternoon topping up our glasses, we never had to go to the bar or ask for a top up. It was great - I will definitely go back, it was such great value!

They have their own audio visual, IT, production and post production facilities and a digital lounge which you can hire to show screenings. There's also conference rooms, a more relaxed meeting area with leather sofas and training studios where you can run workshops and seminars. I went there on Saturday night to see the films they were showing as part of the annual White Night festival and have to say whilst I wasn't blown away by the quality of the 4 films I watched, I thought the space and concept was great.

The building is modern and clean and there is a small downstairs bar where you can congregate before, or after performances. Okay, so the film I saw was dire, but that was just bad luck. The Lighthouse offers an insight into Brighton's creative side that you might not always know exists. Yes there are bands and painters, but the performing arts are often overlooked. I strongly advise checking the listings and giving this place a go. I gave it a go and although I didn't enjoy the particular performance, I am so glad I know places like Lighthouse exist.

Of course, these location details are extremely important because it would be a travesty if one was to mistake this area with the one googlemap tells me is due east 437.04 miles in central Germany. It is not. Anyway, so now we are comfortable and secure in the knowledge of where exactly Hanover Community Centre is, lets continue. The centre, although a relatively small and unassuming area fits the needs of the close knit local community perfectly and holds events regularly with a strong local presence attending. The annual Hanover Beer Festival is a perfect example of this. Tightly cramming over a hundred people and 50+ kegs of beer, wine and cider from all over the U.K. into one marquee in the car park and large amounts of the profit going to charity, there is a real ram shackle old knees up feel about the festival. At the core of this old fashioned and uncommercialised event is underpinned a warming community vibe, which is generously and quite cheaply lubricated by Beers with such charming names as Old Chippers Nib and Arse'ole. The only thing missing here is Hugh Furnley-Whittingstall and Cornwall, but to be honest in the excited countrified, fair atmosphere you quickly forget, which I think is a testament to an event run in a suburban area of a South-Eastern city, and of course to the 8% cider which aides the easy transformation. The Beer Festival though is one night in a year, and the Community Centre offers so much more than that, providing classes every week day in true Brighton spirit ranging from Breast Feeding to Tai Chi and Spanish Language. Long I hope may Hanover Community Centre continue to provide such events, with a real human, relaxed, and community touch for many years to come, fending off the encroachment of corporate swag working its way around Brightons best kept secrets. The Hanover Community Centre is a lively and bustling locus of activity on Southover St. You need never complain of restlessness or boredom again, with such a diverse and exciting schedule of hobby and educational classes on offer. On any given evening of the week, you will find children's dance classes, yoga (Iyengar, Hatha etc.), art and martial art classes. The Woodcraft Folk meet on Thursdays and there are also various language and exercise classes that regularly use the hall. Look out for one off events and film screenings as well as fayres, fundraisers and the famous Hanover Beer festival in the Autumn. They also operate as an arts venue during the Brighton festival in May, so keep your eyes peeled for interesting events! The Christmas fayre is held in mid December and is always full of local artisans selling their crafts, as well as yummy festive treats! Definitely worth a visit...

Lots of people out & about & the downstairs bar was packed but up in my room, it was nice & quiet I scored the Pressure Sounds room w/ its Reggae theme. Turns out the phone in the room just so happened to be exact phone Sis had while we were growing up....awww, nostalgia! Bed was on a springy frame which made it almost like staying at camp - but it was comfy nonetheless. Wicker chair in the corner, gaming console w/ the tv & great smelly bath products Staff is super-friendly & the downstairs bar is cozy-cool. Would def stay here again!

A regency guest-house two minutes from the sea-front, Hotel Pelirocco is easily Brighton's coolest and most distinctive hotel. Every room is individually themed and decorated by artists, designers or hip record labels like Rough Trade and Skint. I've stayed in the Absolut Love room (which was all red velvet curtains and a heart-shaped bed), the Hysteric Glamour room (which was all provocative neon and black bedding) and the Leah Bowery room (which was a shrine to the cult performance artist). All of them were great and I'd happily go back and stay in the Pressure Sounds room (Lee Scratch Perry wallpaper apparently!), the Muhammed Ali rom (with boxing ring paint) and the Betty Page Boudoir - if only I had the bling or a free invite... The bar is terrific and serves cooool cocktails til 1am Sun to Thurs and til 4am at weekends. The only disappointing thing is some of the rooms are sponsored by corporate companies and so there's product placements dotted everywhere around the hotel. I don't mind seeing Absolut bottles upcycled into chandeliers but Smint mints...

Moksha, on the other hand, has outlets under almost every table. I'd say almost half of the customers were typing or surfing away on the free wifi whilst I drank my tea. And it was delicious tea - winter spiced red. Mmm. Moksha offers many different flavours, all for £1.50, and other hot drinks like mochacinos, americanos and lattes in two sizes. Smoothies are £2.95 each and named things like, 'Cardio Angel' and 'Flu Fighter.' Yummy and healthy-sounding. Snackables range from cakes (such as carrot cake, blueberry and cinnamon loaf, and brownies) to sandwiches, quiches and jacket potatoes. It looks like a great place to stop for lunch; as menu items are all under £5. Meal-size salads are the most expensive, at £4.50, and I'm quite tempted to return for the Roasted Butternut Squash and Feta salad. Wow-y. With plenty of tables and couches, friendly staff and the multitude of available outlets, I'll definitely be back here to work on my term paper/sample some deliciousness in the near future.

I'm not sure I have a coherent opinion now, but I'm gonna share my rambling thoughts... Moksha is an independent cafe. Tick, we like that. The name is interesting and comes from Sanskrit and according to their website, "Moksha frees the soul from all limitations, restrictions and conditions whatsoever, conferring full and total satisfaction and peace." Interesting. Why then does this place look like a Starbucks? Maybe it's just me, but full and total satisfaction are not found in pleather furniture and boring, standardized decor. Inject some character and individuality, and then talk to me about freeing my soul! I just don't really understand- the last thing we need is independent businesses mimicking multinational corporate chains, especially in Brighton, which is fast losing it's face. Beyond my own personal grievances, this cafe does nice food (jacket potatoes, quiches, sandwiches and salads), which is fresh and tasty. It does also have a nice chilled (if manufactured) ambiance and they have occasional gigs and free wifi. Just not the stuff dreams are made of, at least not for me!

After arriving prior to check in time, we dropped our bags off. When we got back, reception had taken our bags up to our room . The breakfast was fantastic and the location was superb. Five minutes to the pier, 10 minutes to the palace and lots of restaurants and pubs within a few minutes. Definitely recommend for your trip to Brighton.
