Before moving here, I was at my dry cleaner's 2-3 times a week. We were on a first name basis. She gave me a present when my son was born. We definitely went out more, wore more dry clean only clothes, and lived 2 minutes away. But here I live 15-20 minutes from the closest dry cleaner. It seems crazy. Anthony's is close to my work and thus has won my heart. They are not the fastest (but I've learned that Maine works at a Maine pace). You just have to embrace that you might have a 5 day turn around time instead of next day. Maybe that's an option and I probably should ask in case I need something in a hurry. But my clothes came back clean and the cost was reasonable. I can't ask for much more.

The staff has been helpful when I've needed assistance, I just feel like they could do some more cleaning of machines/floors. But she had a lot to apologize for: ATM not working, only 3 washers take credit cards and none of the dryers do. It's 2025! The machines are old and poorly kept, 7 of the dryers are out of order, the snack machine, built to take cards, only takes bills (fine) but DOESN'T GIVE CHANGE. The laundry supply dispenser was mostly vacant, there's no WiFi that was readily apparent (despite the large sign in the window, which also advertises the [non-working] ATM). But: it does have a restroom and provides nifty cups for your quarters (but you'll have to go somewhere else to get cash before you can get change!). The change machine works! A coat of paint and some 21st century tech would make this a place I come back to. Otherwise: nope. They haven't even claimed the business to read reviews, so clearly the owners don't care, and it shows.

Elvis lamp, cute dogs, super nice people? Coin machine, places to sit, brightly lit, parking outside? What's not to like?? I had a day-ruiningly bad experience here this morning. Laundry gives me crazy anxiety. Don't ask me why. It simply does. It's stressful living in a city and on the 4th floor of a walk up and trying to finagle laundry and quarters and carrying things with spaghetti arms! I digress. Usually Soap Bubble is fabulous in helping my frantic anxiety ass when I can't get the card readers to work, or I need advice on which machine to use for whichever size load I have that day (generally gigantic). Today, the card reader on the washing machine wasn't working - this happens to me quite a bit. I tried two cards, swiping in several ways, and probably 15 times they said declined. I know these cards work- I've used them here on these machines a zillion times! The last time this happened to me, I went up to the counter, and the employee was so kind, per usual. They came over and swiped it with their magic touch, and it worked. They didn't make me feel bad at all. It seemed like a regular thing that happens to everybody! This morning I approached the attendant on duty, who I had not seen before. I let her know that my silly ass couldn't get the card reader to work, and asked for some help. She came over to the machine and WAS SO. BRUTALLY. MEAN. I swiped the card and she said, "You're swiping it wrong. You're swiping it wrong. Why would you swipe it like that? Is that how you swipe it at the grocery store?" Not in a joking way... in a very rude, almost-made-me-cry way. Like, why am I being bullied at the laundromat right now? Anyway, she helped me by letting me pay at the computer desk. All while being the rudest lady. I don't get it. Why work in customer service when you despise human beings? I'm too sensitive, and I'm sure everyone else would brush this off. But before I went my boyfriend did joke, "Careful of that lady, she is... testy. Try to avoid that." So, she has a reputation. Laundry is already a no-fun chore that causes many of us stress. Why add to it and make your customers feel stupid and like a burden? Especially when they're being kind???? Sorry to be lame. Just like, WTF. Now I have even more anxiety around laundry, because I have to worry about being yelled at by the Soap Bubble employee. C'mon guys!!!!

So, I have checked out a handful of laundromats in the Lewiston/Auburn area and I've decided this is my favorite. (Disclaimer: I don't use the washers, only the dryers.) But, the nice lady who works there is very helpful and she recognized a new face when I walked in, so she gave me the run down of how to use the dryers. You can also leave your clothes for drop off and pick up. All the machines take cards or coins which is so handy. They are all pretty efficient, I've never waited more than 45 minutes for a huge load of clothes to dry. There's a couple folding tables, a handful of carts to roll around your clothes in and a TV playing your typical daytime shows. Most importantly, it's clean. The floors are clean, the machines are clean and even the parking lot is clean. I recommend.

For washing machines, there are several options: 20lbs, 30lbs, 40lbs, 60lbs, and 80lbs. The machines have 9 different modes with various temperatures. Washers and dryers all have card readers, which is nice . It is 24 hours a day, and there is a counter and people who work here, however it is not manned 24 hours. The lady I've interacted with has been very helpful. The first time I came I was trying to figure out how to set up the dryer and she came over and explained it to me. And I've seen her assist many others as well. There are two vending machines, one with snacks and one with drinks. There are two TVs with cable, one in each end of the facility. And the place is stocked with one public bathroom. The place isn't always super clean, especially the floors. Trash bins have been full or near full most of the time when I come here. But they do clean, they just can't keep up with the demands. It does get really busy and quite crowded on weekends, something to keep in mind. I would show up around 0700 or 08 at the latest to avoid the crowd. During the week it's much slower.

I felt very uncomfortable by him, and he didn't seem to get the hint, and then one man who never came in, but pulled right up to the driver side of my vehicle so I couldn't get in or out for 2 hours. I will likely never go back there again unless there is simply is no other facility to wash clothes and they're just too dirty to continue to wear. Might be fine if you are a man but a single woman, should not go alone. I should note there were a lot of parking spaces there were only 2 other cars parked at laundry mat and nothing else in the shopping center was open.
