TWO FACE. I had Sandra do my kids face paint at his party. It went fine, and she let me know that she also did balloons and I told her I would keep her in mind for future events. Fast forward to me having a party and I asked her to do the balloons. She tells me to order more balloons so I do. I was paying her $40 an hour for 3 hours. I was providing the balloons, the stand and the pump. Hours before my event, she informs me I need additional rubber bands, and finishing line, and if I didn't get them she would use her own and charge me extra. I told her I wish she had told us sooner. I hadn't planned to leave the event at all and set up the entire day. So I told her how I felt it was unfair to charge us for more as she was literally telling us the day of our event. $40 an hour is more than many college graduates make, and they aren't blowing balloons. I told her I would do them myself and she went off. I expressed how it was my first time ordering balloons and I would always do them myself. It didn't seem fair to be charged extra after already proving all the supplies and literally paying her just to blow up and arrange balloons. Because of this, I was about 2 hours late setting up for my party, and didn't get to use half of the things I had purchased for the party because we simply ran out of time. If you have ever planned a party you know how something like time can drastically affect your event. That's just bad for business. She could have offered rubber bands and the finishing line as a courtesy, and I would have gladly kept her. Even if she included something actually worth the $15 I would have agreed. But $15 more for something you can get from the Dollar Store for $1? It was just so unprofessional of her to go off on me the way she did afterwards. I wasn't rude, and it saddens me because she showed her true colors. The professional thing to do would have been to acknowledge that you can't tell customers to get additional supplies at the last minute and expect them not to get upset. She should have made it right, and not added to my bill. Initially she made me get more balloons so I did, when she told me AHEAD of time. So the additional supplies were not the issue. It was just the time, and it felt like she was purposely trying to make a little more. In one of her packages it's $150 for the entire setup with everything PROVIDED. I provided everything and she was still charging me $135. Make it make sense. She was upset because I cancelled last minute, but it's ok when she tells us last minute that she needs more supplies and it will be more money? No. She mentioned a travel fee and how she cancelled events for me which are all things she did not initially mention. If you pay attention to all of her bad reviews, she goes off and tries to clap back to all of them. I was just disappointed because I did enjoy her service the first time, but she became a very different person once I cancelled. She should have simply taken the loss and moved on. Dumping on me afterwards was simply unnecessary. At my last event I treated her respectfully and offered her food and drinks. I'm sure she'll reply soon as she does in every review. Sandra, keep in mind I worked retail for many years before doing what I do now. It doesn't matter how stupid or ridiculous the customer is. You make it right. You find a solution that benefits the both of you. I would have had more respect if you had professionally declined to work with me any further. Even if you wanted to charge me an extra $100 and include other services or something else I would I have paid the extra money if it was something worth it. On top of that, this event was a gift from my mother. I had already given her a price and recommended you highly actually. So believe me when I say it wasn't the money. It was just about integrity and me sticking to my word that I would keep you in mind. However, your response was pretty much you telling me I suck and when I responded to you then you just ignored me. It's just not good business. UPDATE: As predicted she has responded. She denied offering services below $150. Lo and behold I attached the sheet where she says she does balloons for $150. "Everyone loved my work" is not a reason to treat people the way that you do when you don't get your way. She spent no money in travel to me, and notice I reached out to her the morning, not the other way around. So if it were up to her she never would have told me the extra things I needed and showed up with the extra charge anyways. The bottom line is Sandra failed to tell me ahead of time. Can you even admit that Sandra? Seriously you can't even admit that you told me late? Do you not see the issue here? Use that bachelors degree to understand what you did wrong it's not that hard. YOU TOLD ME HOURS BEFORE THAT YOU NEEDED MORE STUFF. HOW IS THAT OK ? YOU CAN'T EVEN ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG?! HOW IS IT THAT EVERY BAD REVIEW ALL SAY THE SAME THING? KARMA. read more

I hired TopStars Face Painting for my daughter's birthday party in December 2023. The face painter showed up over a hour late to the party. She stated she was late because she was coming from another event. That didn't make sense because our start time was 11am. Who do you book earlier than 11am for face painting?! And if true, why book clients so close together? Then, she left the party early stating that no one else needed their face painted. Only after I pointed out that she had time left on her contract, she deducted $50 from the remaining balance (the remaining balance was $170 and I paid $120 of the remaining balance). She was incredibly unprofessional. At the time, I was miffed but figured she was just having a bad day so I did not write a negative review. I write this review now because today, I attended birthday party and she was the face painter. She was an hour late to this child's party. And, I found in her look book (which contains photos of children she painted) a photo of my daughter from my party in December!!! She never asked me or my husband permission to take a photo of my 6-year-old and use it in advertising her work or displaying options to other customers. There was no clause in the contract about doing so. I told her she was using my child's image without my consent and she gave me the page with my child's photo. This is nonetheless off-putting as she still has my child's image on her phone. I strongly do not recommend this face painter. Update: after posting this review, Sandra has informed me that she has deleted the photo from her phone. She also stated that she received permission from a grandparent to photograph my child. I have inquired and none of my child's grandparents furnished such permission. Moreover, the child's parents are the ones who can give such permission, not whatever family member happens to be standing nearby. I stand by my comments. read more

I would never write a negative review about another business as I am a business owner myself, but I can't express my disappointment and devastation after seeing my 6 year old daughter cry at her own birthday. I'll start with the end, Sandra COMPLETELY FLAKED, she was a NO-SHOW. I learned about this 20 minutes before when I called to see if she was on her way. It started when I was browsing Yelp for a face paint artist and came across someone else (don't want to mention their name so I'll refer to them as X), so I asked for a quote through Yelp, apparently Yelp sends the quote to other businesses so Sandra called me and presented herself as X. I asked her on the phone, twice "are you X or another business?" and she said specifically, "I am X don't worry". So I paid her the $40 deposit and then a day later the real X replies back (see picture of texts). I should've learned then not to do business with Sandra, but she convinced me and this was my mistake. After that I confirmed with her 3-4 times and each time she replied with confirmation and assured me all was ok. I even confirmed with her a day before. Today, 20 min before the event I text her see you soon, 10 minutes later she replies that SHES AT ANOTHER EVENT AND CANT MAKE IT, so she'll send someone who's good at other balloons?! Pictures of her texts are attached to this review. I kept calling and calling and no answer. Imagine the heartbreak of a 6 year old girl waiting to get her face painted along with all of her friends at her birthday. This person is a scam and should not be allowed to work with children.
