From the time I started the booking process, the company connected with me in a meaningful way to understand my goals. I remember sharing that there would be around 30 kids, and asking "are you sure one entertainer is enough" -- their answer was an unresounding "yes, absolutely." Based on my experiences attending and hosting birthday parties, I couldn't imagine how. How? Then there was Moon. Moon, our rainbow princess. Days before the party Moon reached out to coordinate, and ask about my daughter's favorite things. I was reassured that someone was indeed coming...and that they cared enough to coordinate with a stressed party-planning parent in advance. When Moon arrived, in a blaze of glitter and glory, she was fully equipped with tools to entertain: magic show, play time w/ parachute, face paint, balloon animals. And she did. Moon took 30 kids from 1.5-7 years old, and enchanted them. They quite literally could not get enough. For the three hours she was with us, the children wanted nothing more than to bask in her presence, and experience her utter talent. They followed her around like characters from the pied piper. I found Happily ever laughter on Google. Really liked their website and how easy it was to get a quote and choose activities. I took a chance, and am glad I did. Their customer service was great. They call and email promptly. Pricey? A bit. But kids had fun. We had Jasper as our faerie, she kept them engaged and entertained for 2 hours. We will definitely book them again. One thing I hope can be changed is the number of group activities. The website won't let you choose more than 2 group activities, the 3rd and 4th (when booking for 2 hours) have to be individual treats (like face painting or dazzle designs). I highly recommend Happily Ever After! This review has been long overdue! It was my baby's 2nd birthday and we had Shadow as our Faerie! That day unfortunately, there was a block on I 580 and Shadow made it to the appointment only 15 mins late whereas most of our guests were an hour late! After spending nearly 2.5 hrs in traffic due to the road block, Shadow was super quick and took on the character like a star! I really felt bad that she got such bad traffic but Shadow was super happy to entertain the kids. I recently (prior Coronavirus) hired Happily Ever Laughter for my son's third birthday. They made it so easy, and I was actually able to have an adult beverage and *gasp* enjoy my child's birthday. Everything from beginning to end was amazing! I reached out to them online and was able to chat with a real live "secrefaerie." Cute, right? They helped me choose activities that would be age appropriate for a bunch of rowdy 2-5 year old kids. Then, a couple days prior to our party, we received a call from Miss Eris, our Super Bubble Ranger (think space explorer for a kid that loves rockets), to make sure she had all the details for the celebration. When Miss Eris arrived, she gathered all the friends for an amazing magic show, where she and the kids all magically made a present for my son. Then she got those little bodies moving in the cutest freeze dance I've ever seen. Before Miss Eris left in her space ship, she gave every child their very own glitter tattoo to wear home! Fae, In response to your response: First of all, you identified on the phone as the 'Manager', yet your title on Yelp says Business Owner. You mentioned that you have talked to the owner about making an exception about not keeping the deposit and that he/she had said no. So, which one are you? Is there another owner? I'm confused. Secondly, I did mention on my review that I had NOT read the refund policy CAREFULLY. For some reason I had in my mind that applied to cancellations, not postponements. That's on me and I take full responsibility. Had I done that, I would've naturally inquired in depth in our phone conversations and probably paid the additional $30. However, my disappointment comes from a dislike of your managerial handling and business model. I happen to be in sales of engineered structures and we don't even keep a 50% deposit. Our policy is 15% in case of cancellation to cover engineering time. That is considered a fair opportunity cost %. Aside from the fact of whether I knew or not. I fundamentally disagree with the fact that your company is comfortable keeping a steep 50% for a service not rendered of an already high cost service, especially in these trying times. It is a VERY bad management decision, as every company knows that keeping a repeat customer is paramount in this business for many reasons (word of mouth, reviews, personal advertising, more business, etc.). Another reason is that I would imagine the bulk of your business is middle class families like mine and it's not an every day expense we incur. It doesn't come without effort. Your service is more expensive than the average party entertainment. You are also a niche business who stick to own characters (not Disney or well known characters that most kids want). So, to have you keep such big percentage is INDEED a big disappointment, considering there are other options for entertainment companies who do not keep such high fees. Thirdly, I would've been happy to had you keep 15% of the service fee ($45). I was not expecting for you to foot all the Op cost of losing a booking for that date, but this was NOT a cancellation, just a postponement, so you were still getting the business + that $45 fee, which would've been more than that $30 insurance fee you were charging as an option on your contract. It doesn't make ANY sense. Lastly, you offered me $25 on Yelp, but did not do so on the phone. Why not? It certainly makes your business look better online after the fact, but a bit late for me being that you had already issued me a cancellation and refunded only 50% of what I had paid you. read more
