Econoair sold a Maytag A/C to me back in 2008 and offered 12 years warranty (parts and labor)…read more Problems came hand in hand with the installation: 1) the technician decided where he wanted to put the unit w/o asking me and went ahead and drilled a big hole on my wall. When I found out and pointed out that wasn't the reasonable location, he went ahead and drilled another hole! Yes he did patch the first hole... with ugly paint and filling stuff. 2) The same summer, I realized my A/C is not cooling at all. Econoair sent another technician on site, who confirmed the initial installation wasn't done correct and the unit wasn't working at all. It appears he did fix the problem... to some extent. I mean thereafter I constantly have difficulty with cooling. When I complained in 2010 they sent 2 technician on site, who claimed there was nothing wrong based on the fact that the A/C was producing code air, and wanted to charge for the "service". This year it got even worse. I can't even bring my room temperature down to 21 degree when the outside is only 26. When I phoned Econo air, Bruce the owner first claimed my A/C is fine and blamed my duct work. When I pointed the preset temperature is never reached even after leaving the A/C run for a whole day, he finally admitted there is indeed something wrong but refused to do anything because "Maytag has discontinued in Canada". What can i say, if Maytag decided to pull out of the country and not to fulfill outstanding warranty, it is a problem between the Maytag and Econo Air (as the retailer). After all, I didn't purchase from Maytag. Make sense? However, Bruce decided to make the problem his customer's.
