I have been using Toronto Eco Cleaning (formally Good Karma) for five years. My roommates and I decided that hiring a cleaner saves relationships, and I can safely say that it was worth every penny. They are fantastic - Sherab will even clean the stairs and landing outside of our apartment. I really like that they are conscious of the environment and bring their own cleaning supplies. Decided to treat myself after a long week of work to a cleaning of my apartment. I moved around my weekend plans, as my booking was confirmed, and they assured me they would come in on the holiday Monday. 15 minutes after my cleaner was supposed to show up, I gave them a call only to have the owner tell me that we never confirmed. I forwarded the email with her confirming my time and address, and she didn't have anything to say. I received an email saying she forgot to put me in the schedule. I've mixed feelings about this company, which is also known as Good Karma. I've used them over the last couple of years. Good points: most cleaners are reliable and do a reasonable job; prompt and courteous; reasonably priced; and I like the fact it hires Tibetans, newcomers and an ethnic minority to this country. The last reason is no less significant why I have kept going back to them. Not-so-good points: quality of agents varies a great deal: one of them left a dustpan on the bed (I caught it!); another one lied about the number of hours; yet another one was so furious and bossy like I was begging her to get things done. When do you get the good ones and when the not-so-good? The manager has the discretion, and I cannot help feeling the choice was somehow deliberate sometimes. One occasion: I've taken the initiative to pay before a reminder was sent to me, but that was well rewarded. Let's face it: I used this company repetitively because it was reasonably reliable and hires recent immigrants, a huge plus. But, the way it manages its until-recently loyal clients leaves much room for improvement. It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. It's also like they don't understand what customer loyalty means. In a nutshell: great job of the cleaning itself, but poor time management and (potentially) really unnecessary criticism. If you do decide to hire Good Karma Cleaners, be VERY clear about your needs and how long YOU might think each room will take. My experience: I hired a maid from Good Karma Cleaning for a one-time clean for my parents' condo in Downtown Toronto while they were out of town. Firstly, the maid arrived exactly half hour earlier than the designated appointment time. Luckily, I was home at the time and was able to let her in, but for those of us who have our day planned to the T, this could be frustrating. Secondly, within the 4 hours of booked time, she was only able to properly clean the kitchen and bathroom of a 640 sq. feet condo. She barely cleaned the living/dining room, and the bedroom and den were left completely untouched. The kitchen, I knew, was definitely very messy and required much more time than a regular cleaning would, but I really wish she had been able to clean the den and bedroom even a little bit before leaving. Having said that, her cleaning of the bathroom and kitchen was top-notch, and I am very happy with how well it was done, just not with how long it took. Lastly, the reason why I am hesitant to give Good Karma a better rating is because, throughout the cleaning process, I had to constantly endure complaints about how messy my house was. This ranged from "Your house is so messy!", "You need to start cleaning this place more often", "How can you live like this?" and "Tell your parents they need to buy a better vacuum cleaner". While I'm glad she found it easy to be so straightforward with me, I will admit that it was a tad bit excessive and really just unnecessary. I think its worth mentioning that she immediately realized I spoke her native language, and I was also obviously younger than her, perhaps making her feel like she could offer her opinions far more freely. Going forward, I would think twice before hiring another maid from Good Karma Cleaning. While I appreciate how well-cleaned some of the areas are, I'm still so disappointed by how much is left to be cleaned. read more

I had a horrible experience with Good Karma Cleaning and when I tried to give them feedback I was given attitude and sass. Not cool. I hired them for a 3 hour clean of a condo in Liberty Village and I actually have no clue what the woman did for 3 hours. They claim to provide their own cleaning supplies but she showed up with a medium sized tote bag. No broom, mop, toilet brush, towels, thank goodness we had those items on site. By the way, they say they're eco friendly, but she used 2 rolls of paper towels (mine, as she didn't bring any) when I provided her with several washable lint free cloths. This particular condo was not overly dirty, but the floors needed cleaning and everything just needed to be wiped down. 600 sqft. The floors were not swept or mopped. Countertops were not touched, as they still had water rings on them. Fridge was covered in smudges. Nothing was dusted. Toilet wasn't cleaned. Microwave and oven were untouched. I could go on and on. I literally have no idea what she did for 3 hours. I had to personally clean the place in order to have it ready for my client. I don't mind cleaning, but if I wanted to clean the place myself, I wouldn't have spent money to hire someone. When I sent them an email with feedback, the person responded by telling me that the he spoke with the cleaning lady and she chose to focus on the bathroom (against my direct orders to focus on the kitchen/living area!). Also that smudges on fridges are very difficult to remove. The bathroom was not touched. Absolutely not cleaned at all. It wasn't messy to begin with, so it was easy to tell that she didn't do anything, as there was just a thin layer of dust on everything. As far as smudges on fridges being hard to remove, I had no problem removing them myself with soapy water. They tout their eco-friendly cleaning products, but if those products can't remove simple fridge smudges, maybe they need to consider using something a bit stronger (or she didn't attempt to clean the fridge at all). I hate leaving reviews this negative, but I was so frustrated by the whole experience. I'm glad there are people that are happy with their service. This company is also known as Good Karma house cleaning. I hired the company and cleaned once. I found this company on Google. All Communications with the company was via text. They confirmed via text my second cleaning date. They reconfirmed the cleaning via text three days in advance. I contacted them the morning of cleaning via text and they cancelled on me 1 hour prior to their arrival. They sited that text communications was not good for them. LOVE LOVE LOVE this company! I've been calling on them for "help" for a few years now, and every time I come home, my unit feels CLEAN, tidy & organized. I haven't had a problem with consistency, hence this review. I've been using cleaning companies for years, and have paid a fortune. Good Karma is half the price of a lot of other cleaners, and the job they do is 100% better. No joke. I usually get 4 hours, which i find it ample amount of time for a good cleaning, in my 1000sq foot unit. If you have specific areas you want focused on (for me, it's always dusting, dog hair build up around the baseboards) tell them! Their communication through email is super convenient, and they're quick to reply. I often schedule cleaning a day prior, and my last minute request is never an issue. One late night, i emailed at midnight, for cleaning the next day. No prob! I love coming home to my bed made, and my pj's folded up at the end of the bed. It's the little things that mean the most. I've always been very very very impressed by every visit. My place can get dirrrrrrrrrrrrrty, to the point that I'm embarrassed for the cleaning lady to see it in this state. They make my life so much easier. I would recommend them to anyone who's looking for a great cleaning company, that's consistently amazing. Baseboards, lightbulbs in lights, lampshades, tops of picture ledges, dusting under the beds ... things that are often missed by cleaning companies haven't been forgotten by Good Karma. Heck, she event emptied the dishwasher! YIPPEE! This cleaning company is VERY dog friendly: I have 2 large dobermans', which have scared more than a few past cleaning companies. I was present for the cleaning ladies first visit, so I could make sure she was comfortable with them -- It meant a lot that she wanted to know their names, how old they were, she was petting them, ect ... At the end, she told me that they just slept on the bed and sofa while she cleaned around them. As a dog mom, this made me sooooo happy :) The last thing I want is for my dogs to scare anyone. Highly recommend Good Karma Cleaning! I was interested in a one-time spring cleaning and so many services I contacted wanted to go through a lengthy phone call about our space and expectations etc. Good Karma had a very well thought out online form and I was contacted by email - my preferred method - later the same day. We had a 3 hour cleaning, all you need to provide is a vacuum/swiffer, mop and a roll of paper towels. I was working from home the day she came but stayed in our second bedroom/office which didn't need a cleaning. She worked so hard and so fast to cover our entire condo. I have used a few cleaning services before landing on Toronto Eco Cleaning (formally known as Good Karma). I work any where from 60-80 hours a week, after a long day I am always pleased when my condo is clean. Tsechu, my cleaning person always organizes my cupboards and vacuums thoroughly with no hair and water marks in sight. I will keep using them. I also used them to clean my parent's condo after the tenants moved out. There were layers of dust, but when she was done it looked brand new. read more

I have used many cleaning services over the years, but never really found anyone very good. I know I am picky, but I want a cleaner to move fast and get the job done right every time. I have used Good Karma for over 3 months now and have had perfect cleanings, every time. They clean everything, are very detailed, and can do a better clean in a shorter time then molly maid or clean my space (the two others I have used). They are also cheaper! I used them today to clean the apartment I am moving into. The lady was on time and worked very hard. The place was quite dusty - very dusty. It looks so much better now. It would be nice if this company could offer carpet cleaning for an additional price. I did feel that I had to provide a lot of equipment and products for the cleaning. It is affordable though provided the service you get! I am using them tomorrow as well to clean a sublet apartment. read more

Just an update from my previous review... Tsering wrote back after I sent pictures of the poor work performed. Tsering was first apologetic admitting some details were missed and then decided to start blaming me! Not enough time I was paying for to get this apartment as clean as I wanted it... And not providing proper supplies for them... This despite them never using the bucket and mop I specifically went out to purchase for them in the first place! She decided to use my little swiffer wet and pads that I use for cleaning and tidying I do from day to day. And complained that ran out of those! Where are the Eco cleaning products you're supposed to be using???!!! Anyways, she offered me 25 bucks after that, but I suggested they keep it and work on their service offering. I've been using Good Karma for 3+ years and have been happy with the service provided. Tsering is very responsive over email and does her best to provide a living wage and reasonable work hours for staff. I have had a few different cleaners over the 3 years and have always been happy with their work and Tsering has been able to work with them to fix things when I have raised concerns. In my past experience I had only been able to find cleaners who were reliable or did a good job cleaning, it was very difficult to find both. Tsering does a great job of providing that service at a reasonable price. I have recommended her to many friends and will continue to do so. read more

Hired them for a move out clean for my old house. Two cleaners for three hours each. Rates were reasonable and Tsering was very prompt in replying to questions. The only drawback is that you have to supply your own paper towels, J-Cloths, brushes and vacuum. This was a little tricky since we had already moved out. I left what they needed and they borrowed my landlord's vacuum. My old landlord said they did a good job. read more

I e-mailed Good Karma at midnight from work the day before I desperately needed someone to come in to clean my place. They responded at 6:30 am the next morning and said absolutely they would send someone. The woman who arrived (I unfortunately cannot remember her name) was incredibly sweet and did an excellent job. At $70 for 3 hours their rates are very affordable and that includes everything, even cleaning supplies. All you need to provide is a vacuum and a mop. The women who came was so helpful that she even offered to help me move some boxes I had stored! read more

I am very picky when it comes to professionals whom I hire to clean our home and I am often more disappointed than not. Good Karma Cleaning is very much an exception. Mrs.Khando and Mrs. Tsedolka cleaned our home exceptionally well, including all the gotcha spots I typically check after a professional cleaning, baseboards behind the toilet, exterior of the loft ductwork etc., and everything was dust free and spotless I have only used them once but do have them set up for a regular rotation and will update this review if necessary but as of now, Good Karma Cleaning is A++ This may sound harsh but my take on the negative reviews? The people who complained about this company likely under estimated a) how dirty their place was and b) how long they should have booked. I booked 9hrs for our approx 1600 foot space. This was the worst cleaning service I've ever had. She did not vacuum under our beds or under the couch. There were finger prints on the tv from my children. It is a very small space (800sq ft) and she was here for 4 hours. Not sure what was done other than fluffing couch pillows and bathroom. My house was not in bad shape at all initially and was very disappointed nothing more was done. Called to complain and the owner basically was defending the cleaning lady and telling me it was my fault for not telling her initially. It's pretty straight forward to vacuum under a couch and windex tv. Not using them again. read more

First person that came was nice, efficient but broke something. 2nd person left 15 minutes early, still lots of dust and fluff on the floor, kitchen sink dirty and bathroom mirrors not even touched but did not bother properly finishing the job. Caution when hiring this service: the cleaner who came to my house was lovely, excellent with my toddler, and did a decent job on the bathroom (not exceptional, but ok for $20/hr). However, I had to ask her to leave because she used an abrasive sponge on my stainless steel backsplash (sheet, not tile) and scratched it notably. I was devastated - it cannot be repaired. Also, it was the same sponge that she used in the bathroom :( Hire this team if you want to give them a try - they were responsive, organized, and responded to my complaint professionally - just make sure you are home to give detailed instructions and have cleaning supplies on hand (they asked for more than a vacuum and mop). read more

I decided to try out Good Karma Cleaning after reading the positive reviews. I have two cats and my 750sq ft apartment had not been cleaned properly since we've moved it. It was getting to the point where cleaning by myself would have taken an entire day. I contacted Tsering the night before around 7pm. She responded within a couple of hours and had sent someone over for the next day at 4. I ordered a 3h service - which I knew was not enough to completely clean the apartment. But my goal was to get it to a point where I could manage it on my own. The lady Tsering sent was very sweet. I had been running late & it poured. She started right away. The bathroom was sparkling - our shower had mildew stains which were no longer there. Our upstairs bedroom carpet looked phenomenal. My boyfriend and I were at home during the cleaning & did shift a couple of things around to help maid (whose name I actually forgot to ask) out - but all things considered - at the end of 3 hours she left the apartment looking 100% better then it was before. Most importantly - she left no cat fluff floating around! If you have long haired cats - you know how much fluff can settle .. even after you clean. Would highly recommend the service !! read more

I have been using Good Karma for a couple of years as I had recently moved from the states. Every time I got a cleaning, I had to clean afterwards because they always missed things like dusting and vacuuming under the bed or behind a door, window, door handles etc. it was always frustrating not having your place cleaned properly. There were always stains on the tile left behind or hair that was not swept up properly. I always left a list but somehow that never got done. I have allergies! Like, HORRIBLE allergies which make it near impossible to clean my house properly without being wiped out for a solid 2 days afterwards. As awesome as this excuse sounds, ladies, I'd trade my allergies for your housework in point 5 seconds if I could. I made an appointment online which they were able to respond to within 24 hours. I had a very nice lady show up right at the requested time, and came home to a clean, clean smelling!, house. I have used this service twice. I am an early 30s young professional female. I live in an apartment that was newly renovated with condo finishes. Tile and laminate flooring throughout and about 700 square feet. My condo is kept quite clean on a regular basis but thought I would try Good Karma as an occasional cleaning service when I want a more deep clean of my apartment and to do the areas of my home I hate doing or miss (ie. around the toilet, nooks and crannies, baseboards, corners, around the heating units, behind the tv stand, behind the couch, etc). I booked 3 hours for both cleanings. I'm going to say that they did an OK job, my place looked clean but I didn't feel that they went above or beyond. Both times the lady arrived half an hour early (8:30am); im not mad at that at all, but you got to be mindful to be ready earlier than scheduled. The first time around, the lady did not clean the baseboards, even though I asked for this specifically beforehand. Then when I asked her about this at the end of the clean, she did a half ass job in a hurry and only did the baseboards that were visible (and not behind furniture). She also brought her own vacuum and mop head and choose to use those on her first clean even though I supplied her with my dyson v8 and mop. That was perfectly fine with me but when she came a second time she told me it would be $10 to use her vacuum again. Are you kidding me?? You are going to provide the service the first time no charge and then try to charge me the second time?? That ridiculous. I also supplied her with all my products, none of which are probably ecofriendly, but clearly i don't mind them using since I use them in my home and she did not utilize any of my products. I barely saw her use products at all...I felt as if she only used water and soap. To me, I want you to disinfect and Pinesole the crap out of my place, im totally ok with that! lol Anyways, the lady at the end of the first clean basically told me she did more than any other cleaning person would do in the 3 hours at any other cleaning service. Not sure why she mentioned that to me - but maybe it was in response to me asking her to clean the baseboards and the top of the fridge (portions she missed). I don't appreciate that! I am paying you for a service, please don't make me feel bad if I ask you nicely to do the portions of the clean that were missed. Good Karma sent the same lady for the second clean and this is where she tried to charge me for using her vacuum as mentioned above. I told her to use my vacuum but also told her I thought it was wrong of her to try and charge me to use her vacuum. Sorry but Im going to voice my opinion. Well, let me tell you, this lady was complaining about me to whoever she called on her cell phone, while I was still in the apartment (I actually never left my house). I mean, she was speaking her own language, but I could tell she was talking about it because I heard her say vacuum on several occasions (guess there isn't a word in her language for that!). Again, not appreciated. The second cleaning was better in the sense that she cleaned the baseboards thoroughly. But again, this lady asked me to look around to see if everything is ok; but before I even took a step out of my kitchen, she told me that she came in at 8:50 am, its now 11:50 am and she is done cleaning. Whats the point then? Maybe my expectations are too high, but when I hire someone to clean, I want them to do a better job at it than me..essentially. This is their bread and butter and I want to come home and be like..."they even cleaned that..wow!". I haven't got that with this company. Oh and btw, the lady lied to Tsering and told her that on both cleaning occasions I didn't have a vacuum to give her...when I've had my Dyson V8 since 2016....great customer service... read more

I just got home from a weekend in NYC and I was so excited to arrive home to a clean home. I had dreams about it I was so excited. Unfortunately, I arrived home to a disappointment. The toilet bowl wasn't touched at all. They wiped down the seat and back of the toilet but the bowl itself is still dirty. The counters around the bathroom sink are not clean. And it doesn't appear as though my shower walls were cleaned at all. The 3 small shelves beside my bed weren't touched. My tv shelf was still dusty. If they vacuumed the sofa it wasn't done well; there are still crumbs on it. The two stools in my kitchen are still dusty. The backsplash in the kitchen is still dirty. I asked for the fridge to be cleaned and it wasn't even touched. For what was supposed to be a thorough clean I am really disappointed. It looks like they wiped down some surfaces, cleaned my sink and did a light mop and sweep and that's about it. For $70 I really feel ripped off. Appreciate the effort but I will not be using their surface again. read more

We rent a small one bedroom apartment and we thought it would be a nice treat to have cleaners come in and spruce up the place. Plus the kitchen and bathroom needed more than just a quick wipe...we paid for a 3 hour cleaning and the only things that were thoroughly cleaned were the bathroom and fridge (outside only). Nothing else was touched, the counter tops in the kitchen were not were not even wiped up. I have no idea how it would take 3 hours to clean a bathroom and a fridge. Though I am not a professional, I can do a pretty thorough cleaning of our whole apartment in 3 hours, max! They sent us an e-mail asking how everything was and we responded saying that it was unfortunately less than satisfactory. It wasn't necessarily the quality of cleaning, but rather how much got done in the time we paid for. We never heard back from them! Unbelievable. I definitely feel like we wasted our money :( read more
