I stayed in a hotel right next to the beach!…read more Although the waters are salty (it IS the Mediterranean Sea) and a tad bit cold, even in a time like August, I still really enjoyed this beach. It's a great time for families to enjoy their time here, with bars and restaurants in this area. Many people build BEAUTIFUL sandcastles for display - though you'll need to pay to take a picture with them (interesting way for people to make money)! There are still quite a bit of shells that you will see in this beach, especially if you're lucky, they're right along the coast! The best part about this beach are probably the beach shops and souvenirs right beside it. It was super convenient, and it brought a culture to this beach. I would definitely recommend living in the hotels close to the beach, super convenient!!

There are also different restaurants offering sea food and other options. The beach is clean, easy to get to from the city centre, and has a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy the sea, sunshine, or simply take a walk along the promenade. This small but pleasant beach is just to the left of the Balcon de Europe and the closest beach to…read moremy hotel, so naturally I spent the most time here. It wasn't quite yet high tourist season, so was it still easy to find yourself a spot. Its mostly tourists but there are some local Spaniards relaxing along side. The water is calm and looked clean enough for some pleasant swimming. The sand is more rocky than fine, so bring flip flops. And beer! There's a section where you can rent lounge chairs. Topless sunbathing supposedly isn't allowed, but no one is there to enforce the rules, so you might see some boobs, just like any other European beach(A warning for the sensitive "proper" British wives). The abandoned restaurant is creepy yet fascinating, and not nearly as creepy as the few drugged out homeless hippies you might see. But overall, I spent a several hours here happy, relaxed, and slightly intoxicated. Cheers! TRAVEL TIP: Spain has some beautiful beaches along the Costa del Sol, but most of the water is actually polluted due to inadequate sewage systems. Don't drink the water!
