This is the company that invented the Guadalajara Torta. You choose what kind of meat you want, and they put it into a submarine type bun. The bread is so freshly baked and delicious. Since it was my first time there, I asked to try the different kinds of meat. I selected two types and ask them to mix it into the sandwich for me. Once you have the meat in your sandwich, you can put your own toppings, such as various sauces and dips, plus vegetables. The most common way to eat this, is to drown it in a liquid, and then use a fork. I'm not a particular fan of the drowned version, so I just put enough sauce to cover the meat. I prefer to hold the sandwich and have a bread which I can sink my teeth into. The bottom line is that for about five bucks you get a delicious sandwich, with all the fixings that you can add by yourself. Plus there are different options for drinks. One of them is a freshly squeezed orange juice in a bottle. It's delicious. You can also get horchata, or various sodas and juices. Did I mention that this is a common breakfast food? Seriously this was disgusting. Was looking forward to tasting a famous Guadalajara torta ahogada and this detone disappointed. I ate about a quarter of it and as soon as I got to our condo I threw up. My friend took one bite and left it there. Handful of people recommended the place but def not good. I had my first ever Torta Ahogada here.. A little background: It's a pork (carnitas) sandwich, drenched in both sweet and super spicy salsa. At this particuluar location, it's "self-service". I had one of the ladies working there show me how to make it the most traditional, but be very careful of the picante (spicy) sauce. I loved the torta bread a lot. The pork was DECENT, but man to eat this classically it is absolutely drowned in salsa. Bring a spoon with you to eat it, if you can even manage a few bites with your hands. read more
