Both these things up the stars for this place. Which leads me to the food. Got a pizza and fisherman platter. While not bad, it's basically fast food quality at high non-fa$tfood prices. Oof. But hey, at least Dixie was open when many of the restaurants in the area were closed for the season.

There are homard shacks and some very rustic looking diners up here amongst the dining options (it's a stunningly beautiful area especially riding on the Bay of Chaleur). However, in some of the larger tourist towns like Gaspe and Carleton-sur-mer there is the Dixie Lee...which actually has one USA locale on the edge of the 1000 Islands in Ogdensburg NY. There are several of these out here and in the Martimes..and there also used to be quite a few in Eastern Ontario in the Lake Ontario/1000 Islands region (was started in Belleville between Kingston and Toronto). This is actually some pretty decent poulet frit...sort of in the vain of the KFC original recipe (minus the grease), krinke cut fries, a cole slaw that is also similar ala Colonel. The subtle nicety is the chicken sauce which is right out of the classic Montreal rotisserie BBQ variety (think St Hubert or Swiss Chalet). In Canada it's almost sacrilegious not to have gravy on your fries... And separating this fast food chain from most...Dixie Lee does not feel like one has swallowed a boulder after consumption.
