I start the car and attempt to shift my Ford Fusion into gear. And...the electronic shift malfunctioned and wouldn't shift out of Park. Sh*t ! In desperation, I called Drenkow Motors a mile down the road hoping and praying someone was still there...Mike answered and gave me guidance remotely as to what to try to resolve the issue. When that didn't work, he volunteered to drive over to the Plaza and see what he could do. After trying several different things, he called a towing company he knew and offered to let me use the company car he had used to get to me until his technicians could diagnose the problem on Monday. I was shocked with this outstanding display of customer service ! On top of this, expecting that they would need to replace the entire shift mechanism for $500 or more, they found that they only needed a small part to fix it. Impressed with their honesty, I had them do several maintenance items that I was planning to do later, probably somewhere else. The support of Todd and David in their repair shop was professional and very supportive in checking everything and only doing the items that needed attention. I returned their loaner and picked up my car today. The work was excellently done and the pricing very reasonable. Drenkow is now my go-to auto repair shop as their version of customer service and competent technical repair blows the competition away !

After my parents took a wash on a van and finally solid, they were left the family carless. My father got a ride to this dealership, said "I just need dependable transportation" The 1985 car he bought that day lasted 10 years and 120k miles. Since then, my family has relied on Ver Hoef to supply 5 other dependable used cars as we have all started our own families. The price wasn't always the most competitive, but everything that came off the lot was reliable. But the man who put the name Ver Hoef on the building sold out in January 2011. Since then, both my sister and I went there to get a good car. My sister bought a van to drive her two toddlers around. Only to stop at another dealership in Sioux Falls because of a wobble and find metal reinforcement coming out of the inner tires a week later. And two other issues there were suppose to be fixed were not but discovered a very hundred miles past the warranty. I went in looking for a good 4 door car. I looked up on the website and emailed a sales guy. He responded and we went to look at it. The salesman didn't know anything about the car. He didn't know what engine, what tranny, who owned it, and wouldn't supply the carfax stating, "Its a joke anyway, it doesn't really say anything". If it were any other dealership I would have left after that. But we decided to test drive it anyway. We found that the brakes were bad, the windshield was cracked and when I had another mechanic look things over, it needed about 3 other things fixed. The old Ver Hoef would not put a car in that condition on the lot let alone try to sell it as 'a nice clean car that was never driven hard.' To top it all off, the refused to fix the problems. They said we could pick 2 of the 3 problems (not acknowledging the other 2). I walked off and will not return. Nor will anyone from my extended family. I just hope someone not as careful is going to end up with a lemon that had a name you once could trust. The man behind Ver Hoef is no longer there.
