Alex promptly got back to me with a very reasonable quote, and I was happy to learn they have weekend availability. As a professional working in healthcare, I hate to take time off on short notice, as it requires me to have 25-30 patients rescheduled last minute, which is unfair to both my office manager and my patients. Fortunately, XPower is flexible in their availability, which I greatly appreciated. They showed up between 9:00 and 9:30 AM on Saturday as promised; I did not have to wait around for hours for them like I've had to for other contractors. They promptly got to planning how to rout the wiring as I'd requested and got to work. They kept me abreast of their progress while I worked in my yard, and even though they hit multiple snags (to be expected in a 1930s home like ours), they managed to creatively strategize ways to get the work done exactly as I'd asked. Under normal circumstances, I'd expect to simply be told the work cannot be done as I'd like and to be offered some sort of half-baked alternative or worse -- to be told that the contractor is going to back out of the job because of the difficulty. Not these guys. These guys are the essence of "Where there's a will, there's a way." The crew was even happy to add on some last minute work I'd requested, as I had accidentally struck something in my wall the day before when I was installing some wall anchors to hang some paintings and unexpectedly set off a shower of sparks. Turns out I somehow managed to penetrate a live electrical box one of the previous owners had sealed over after they had removed some sconces from the wall. That was a lifesaver. I can't say enough good things about this crew. They're accountable, they clearly care about the work they do, and they'll do whatever it takes to get the job done. Any time I have any electrical work that needs to be done in the future, I will only be calling XPower, and I will be recommending them to all of my friends and family. I am already planning on having them back to install some more picture lights as well as a recessed media box and recessed outlet for my Samsung Frame TV and soundbar. I'm even considering getting a quote to buy my parents a whole-home generator for their house as a gift, as their power goes out frequently and unexpectedly. Then for some reason I had flickering lights, and Sam was out of the country, so I called another electric company. He came out and fiddled around a couple things. Again, it was a while before I tried the generator again and it still didn't work. I talked with a neighbor down the road, and he gave me the number of the electrician he uses. I called them and they came out and told me it's a good thing it didn't work because it was not hooked up correctly. I could have caused an explosion, and even ruined my generator. That company (Efficient Electric) fixed it safely on their 2nd visit. I'm out the money I paid to United Electric in the end.

Work performed: run two new circuits to garage. Had two small issues: 1. Technician initially charged 5 hours of labor even though he arrived at 11 and left at 3:30 including 30 minute lunch and 1 hour Home Depot trip for parts. Quick discussion and it was resolved. 2. Technician did not vacuum wood shavings from the area where he drilled to run wire. All other areas were cleaned up. It was likely he was late for another appointment and simply forgot to go back after loading his tools. Discussed with Dave Frey and he made it right. Overall, I was happy with their service, and even though we had a couple hiccups, those were resolved promptly and courteously. I would hire them again.
