We shared a combo for 2 and it had a ton of food. We were able to switch out the shrimp curry for the chicken Tikka. Good move. Tikka was awesome. The food was spectacular! we had 'apps for two' which included onion bhaji, samosas, shami kebab, sheek kebab, chicken tikka--fantastic flavours. Very fresh. Baju, the proprietor, upon learning of my mango allergy provided us with an amazing yogurt sauce to die for. My husband had lamb curry (which he LOVED) and I had the amazing butter chicken masala (my new go to). The Naan was fresh and scrumptious. Highly recommend this small, delicious restaurant. Excellent! I very much enjoyed my chicken tikka masala, medium heat and garlic naan. Medium heat has a bite, but was just right. The flavors layered nicely and we're much more complex than most Indian places at home in Tennessee where they basically add little if this or that to the butter sauce to make it more masala-ish. Just a 3 out of 5. We were looking for Indian food in the area and according to reviews, this was the best we could find. The saag paneer was disappointing. It was chunky rather than creamy. I'm used to (and would prefer) a creamier saag paneer. It also had slices of tomato and pepper which I did not think went well with the dish. The lamb pasanda my boyfriend ordered was better. It was a slightly sweet curry with chunks of lamb inside. The two samosas we ordered for our appetizer were a good deal (just $3.50 for two), but lacked in flavor. We were hardcore craving some Indian food (the kind of craving that must be satisfied immediately) while staying in Jordan Village, and this came up as the closest and best Indian place around so we headed in. We got the samosas (really good!), the chicken curry (pretty good), the tadka dal (just okay), the garlic naan (also just okay), and the masala roti (which was soft and a little sweet and not at all what I was expecting but really awesome and I'd totally go back here just to get it again). The food took its time to arrive and was nothing mind-blowing, but the service was very friendly, and the staff was honest with us about what items were best to order at that time of day (based on availability and freshness) which we really appreciated. Best of all, they had 90s Hindi music playing the whole time which in a weird way really helped the food hit the spot! PS - If you like ridiculous spicy-ness, try the hot sauce! Amazing Indian restaurant around downtown St. Catherines. Great decoration inside with Indian painting and music. Food was amazing and good amount for a meal. Ordered combo A, which comes with appetizer: Shami Kabab; entree were Chicken curry, Mixed veggie Bhaji, Basmati rice, Papadum and Mango pickle; for dessert we got a coconut Indian dessert. Not overly impressed with the quality. When I spend $30 on a dish, I expect real, authentic Indian food. I've been to Touch of India twice now and both times it was mediocre at best. The first time I ordered Shahi Paneer and it lacked flavour. It was also super rubbery. I thought it was a one-off so I went back again to try Butter Chicken and samosas. The chicken was cooked well but again it lacked flavour. The samosas looked like they were bought from Costco and heated up in the microwave. I've had real, authentic Indian food from some amazing restaurants in Toronto so it's possible that I'm just comparing Rolls Royce to Mazda. If you're not a huge fan of Indian food and just have an itch for some spice, Touch of India might do the trick for you but for me, I was looking for some serious flavour. read more

The name of this restaurant is apt, it is just a touch of India. While traveling in St Catharines, I took my family to this restaurant after reading the fantastic reviews. While we were seated promptly, the time for our food to arrive was incredibly slow, about 45 minutes. I would like to write that the wait was worth it, but sadly it was not. Everything tasted the same and was rather bland. We are frequent eaters of Indian cuisine, and we found the meal very disappointing. Fantastic service, reasonable prices, and delicious food. We were seated promptly and received our drink orders quickly. The place was small, but had nice ambiance and was clean. My date and I decided to share the vegetarian combination for two. The papadum came quickly. It was fine, I have just never been crazy about papadum (a crispy, peppery bread wafer). The onion bhaji (onion and fried dough) came soon after and there was plenty. The bhaji was very good on its own, but the sauces it came with were delicious. Warning, the hot sauce is very, very hot. Only use a small dab until you know what to expect. I love very hot sauces, but even I was sweating eating that stuff. Soon after the baigan bhartha came (eggplant). It was served on top of poori, a puffy unleavened bread. I had never had an indian dish served on top of bread like this, but it was interesting. The baigan bhartha was very good, and the poori was fantastic (though I am kind of a sucker for poori :) Though since it was served this way, it meant that there was no bread to accompany the remaining dishes. Which is fine, just not what I am used to. The sag paneer, dal (lentils) and vegetable curry were all served together with peas polao (a rice dish). The peas polao was a nice touch instead of just plain rice. The sag paneer was delicious, perfectly spiced. The vegetable curry was fine but the tarka dahl was not my favorite. I've never been a huge fan of the yellow lentil dishes I have had, and this was why. The lentils seemed overcooked and the spices were a bit bland. Now keep in mind, it wasn't bad, it was just more noticeable since everything else was so delicious. Regardless, no big deal, as there was much more of everything else than we could handle anyways. Our bag of leftovers was huge. They did bring some sort of dessert. I believe it was a sort of custard, though honestly don't really remember as I was stuffed by then and barely touched it. Had a Kingfisher beer to go with dinner. Overall, fantastic, and would definitely visit this place again. The price was reasonable for how much we got ($33.63 without the beer). I would recommend the combination option, but if you are on a tighter budget, they have plenty of vegetarian options for much cheaper (10 separate dishes for $6.95!!!) Highly recommended Note: They are open for lunch on weekdays and dinner every night, but are closed in the mid-afternoon. read more

This restaurant offers 5 star Indian food, fresh, subtlety spiced, made with care. Touch of India puts many other Indian restaurants to shame. We had a Samosa appetizer followed by Palak Paneer and Lamb Pasanda. The Samosas were perfectly cooked. The spinach and cheese of the Palak Paneer were finely spiced and not masked by the thick sauce that one often finds in this dish. The lamb was tender and its sauce was fresh and tasty. I first visited Touch of India about five years ago when I moved to Niagara. It was great and I visited regularly for a while. I haven't been in over a year. It went for lunch today and was very disappointed. I ordered my usual - lunch special chicken pasanda with rice and samosa. The samosa filling was very dry and the potatoes were mealy. The entree was bland with no depth of flavour; nothing that made you look forward to the next forkful as it had in the past. Suggest if you are looking for Indian food in downtown St Catharines try Bansaree. It may not look as nice as the renovated Touch of India but the prices are a little better and the food is better as well read more

Absolute Garbage. Went there for a nice New Years Eve buffet and could not have been more disapointed. Each shafing dish had one working sterno under it, so everything was room temp. at best. We had to ask for our drinks, and serve our own water.. I expressed my concerns and was told that he understands why I was disappointment but still needed to charge full price for our terrible evening. Called at 630pm for a dinner special to be delivered. Was told 30-45 mins, no problem, assumed it would be quicker as I'm 5 min drive (yes I got delivery as I didn't feel like getting ready to go out in the rain)... After an hour I called and was told they were just leaving.... After 2 hours I called again as I still had not got my delivery and was told that I had just placed the order, and I said no, I had the time stamp on my phone and had placed the order more than 2 hours ago and even called to check up... He argued with me, he was a total jerk on the phone. I canceled the order and the delivery guy showed up 10 mins later. Was not able to provide change for the order. Food is probably the worse I've had in a while. It was cold and disgusting, I threw it out. I will never order from them again and you should think twice before you do as well.
