I love a fair trade shop and this one was welcoming and chock full of delightful surprises! My purchase of a bracelet made locally was an easy sell as it is beautiful, but there were many other gift items and purchases that I would have liked to make. The prices weren't too bad and each has a story of those who made it, which helps to remind a shopper that their purchase goes toward someone's fair livelihood. Love it! I'd go back and get all my gifts if I had more time, but definitely worthy of a look and a browse.

From outside it looked like a store I could have spent some money at, but after I entered, while…read moremasked up, I was approached by the owner who demanded I apply chemicals to my skin before being welcomed to the store. I refuse to inundate myself with chemicals to passify a business owner living in fear. To respond, I did come in. But I was not made to feel welcome, to even look, because I didn't care to use your chemicals. I had just washed my hands. That should have been enough I feel. "Local" or not, it's chemicals. You tried to force it, I refused, and spent money elsewhere that day. You didn't offer to sign anything accepting any responsibility for adverse effects I might have even . . Main point, You don't get to impose your stuff on my body, and I just hope you'll look at what kind of customer experience I had there and maybe grow from it.

Is this the owner? Good luck with that approach I reckon.

Little passive aggressive commentary from the owner? Ok then. Good luck with that.

So, as a small business owner I was really really shocked by my experience. I'm coming for the…read moreholidays to visit my mom in Taos. I wanted to give her a gift certificate from this place for $300. So, I called and asked if they could do a gift certificate. They said sure. So, I asked if they could mail it to my mom's place in Taos (of course, I'd pay for the shipping/handling) because I'm getting there after Xmas and wanted it ready to give to her. She says, 'no, you'll have to come and get it.' I thought maybe she misunderstood. So, I asked, 'you're saying that for $300 you can't stick it in an envelope and drop it in a mailbox?' She said, 'that's right, you'll have to come and get it.' Then I explained that that wouldn't work as I have a 14 hour travel day to get to Taos and can't, after that, drive across town to pick this up. But she refused. Boggles the mind. I own a small business and if one of employees turned down a $300 sale because they didn't want to slip the certificate into the mail, I'd fire them. So, I asked one final time, 'you'd rather have me spend the money at Amazon than with you?" And she ghosted me after that. So, I've ordered from Amazon and won't be coming to this place. The laziness is just jaw dropping.
