Kananaskis Country is noted for recreation and tourism. Recreation facilities in Kananaskis include several campgrounds, a golf course, a hotel, a holiday ranch, two alpine ski areas (Nakiska and Fortress Mountain) and a competitive cross-country ski area (the Canmore Nordic Centre) that the public can use. Parts of the Park were used during the 1988 Winter Olympics. Most of the development is within Peter Lougheed Provincial Park and along the highway 40 corridor that parallels the Kananaskis River. Kananaskis has many kilometres of hiking, cross-country ski, and horse trails. Other activities popular in Kananaskis include mountain biking, scrambling, climbing, backpacking, hunting, and fishing. My adventures here have included some hiking, checking out the Security after the G-8 met here years ago, and taking a wonderful back country drive, starting at Bragg Creek. Kananaskis Country is but a short drive from Calgary and seems to me much more isolated and invigorating that Big Brother Banff next door.

Many of our games are booked at the Calgary Jewish Center, so after a number of years in this league, I am quite impressed with this facility. I haven't seen the entire centre, but the area that I frequent has a very large gym, well-equipped change rooms, and our games are played in a fully stocked gymasium, where we play volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, floor hockey and soccer. I have also taken some yoga classes there, and their yoga studio is very impressive as well! If you live in the SW, definately check out the programs at this center. It is open to all to take fitness classes!

The perspective that I would like to review the Legion, is as a venue for charitable events. A few things stood out for me a really good way. I attend quite a few charitable events in Calgary, so i am accustomed to the assortment of venues in the city, that are without question, a little more high brow than the legion in the small town. But I am here to tell you, that it doens't make them better. First and foremost, the drinks at the legion were reasonably priced. I believe I paid a mere $5-6 for a glass of red wine. Albiet they did not have the selection, but I am okay with that. I was not there for a wine tasting - i was there for a silent auction. However, I did notice from our table, that the assortment of beers and hard alcohols were there, so it must just be a wine thing.... The food was great! It was down to earth comfort food: beef on a bun, with beans, cole slaw. Your standard "cowboy fare". However, it was tasty. It was refreshing to have delicious comfort food as fall was setting in. There were about 100 people at this fundraising event, and we were in there pretty tight, but not "too" tight, therefore, I think the venue is perfect for a crowd of 75-100 based on what I experienced. Also, first and foremost - it was completely clean, rustic, unpretentious and comfortable. I even checked out the bathrooms and I was happy with the state of them. Prior to this event, I wouldn't have considered checking out the local (or not-so-local) legions for a fundraising venue. But now that I have experienced it, I will definately give it a second look for the right event. 5/30

If you don't have a printer that works at home you can print paper for I think it's five cents per page. They help you with the computer when you don't know what you're doing with complicated questions and best of all they are welcoming place for children, every time I'm there it seems like there is a class trip from the local kindergarten and it's lovely that they are introducing kids at a young age to addictive healthy habits like READING!!!!!!! Thank uuuuuuuuu awesome librarians!!!!!!!

There is no security in this library and they need it because a lot of creeps (mainly males) hang out there and harrass women. They recently opened a new branch in Canmore and the same crappy librarians and computers are there.
