They had a plastic walkway from the parking lot to about halfway down the sand to the waterfront where there were a few benches. It was very easily accessible for my mom who is disabled. We were there a few days before Memorial Day weekend and it was not busy at all, however it was only about 40 degrees outside. I can imagine this place is absolutely packed when it's nice out. Parking is $20 for the day or $7.50 for 3 hours to park in the attached lot. However there's plenty of free parking in town which is probably just a 5 minute walk away.

One takes you down the hill from the parking lot out onto a boardwalk through the marsh area, which is full of plants, flowers, and animals in the summer, and out onto an overlook to the river. Heading up takes you to a 60 foot high marsh overlook that sways just a little bit and gives you a great view of the area. Fishing is permitted from the lower deck. The park is free to enter. A very enjoyable walk.

The main reason for my low rating was because the kid who was handling all rentals really had an attitude of "I don't know and I don't care". I almost feel like if I had never been paddleboarding prior to this, I would have had a miserable experience. He gave me zero information and then proceeded to give me a paddle that was too short and also did not know how to adjust the length. Then he sent me out into the water tail end first. The website said we would be guided as to where the turnaround point was-he did not share this. And then when I returned there was zero acknowledgement or even some basic customer service of "how did you like it? did you have fun?". From other reviews I have read it seems like the company is a very reputable service provider in the area. I just think that this one kid is a terrible representation of what you want your company to be. In addition to the complete non-existence of any kind of customer service experience, the water in the river is quite disgusting. I got a rash on my foot just from touching the water. Fortunately I am skilled on the paddle board and did not fall in. I really was hoping that I would have been able to take the paddle into the actual waters of Lake Michigan. That in itself would have been a more thrilling experience.

Connect to the house Wi-Fi, watch a movie, play some tunes on the turntable, challenge your companions to a few board games--inside. Or walk a few minutes to Staymaker Restaurant at Journeyman Distillery, stock up on staples at Froehlich's Kitchen & Pantry, or enjoy a casual lunch/brunch at Oaks Eatery. We rented bikes from Outpost while spending a long weekend in New Buffalo. We stopped by in person…read morethe day before to reserve two adult bikes and were told that they would be ready for pickup the next day at 11 am. Unfortunately, when we arrived at 11, the bikes weren't back from the previous rental pickup until close to 12 and then it took additional time for them to get them off the truck, get us helmets, etc. Since we had only rented them for a day, it was frustrating to have to wait around in the store not knowing when the bike truck would show back up. I wish the staff would have had a better understanding of the plans for the next day so that we could have spent our vacation time doing something more fun. Once we got the bikes, they were in good condition and rode well. We enjoyed riding around New Buffalo, Union Pier, and Three Oaks.
