If you are looking for a B&B in southwest MI this place can't be beat. Stayed here for two nights just for a little girls get away and it was amazing. The inn itself is so well kept and thoughtfully designed. The grounds are stunning and so serene. We were able to take advantage of almost all of the amenities including a free wellness/yoga class, kayaking on the river, biking to the beach, the hot tub/pool, and even a bonfire at night. The staff is so welcoming and provide the most exquisite breakfasts with foods sourced from the farm. Truly cannot say enough great things about this place and can't wait to come back! read more

Truly a wonderful little getaway in a beautiful setting! I attended a wedding here Labor Day weekend where the couple had rented the property for the full weekend for a small intimate wedding. My husband and I were assigned the Flora airstream. We knew going into the weekend that we had the airstream with two twin beds - they were very comfortable and I loved the sheets! I had never stayed in an airstream before and it was really nice! The bathroom was better than I expected and we had full use of hot & cold water for the shower. I will say the lighting in the bathroom is pretty dim so a little tough to do makeup for a wedding haha! I did love that the kitchen was well stocked with beautiful cups & dinnerware. There was even coffee/tea and pancake mix for us to use. There were a few games for us ton play including my favorite - Scrabble! The negative thing about the airstream was all the spiders!! We caught quite a few and I'm sure there were more as there were spiderwebs/cobwebs on the drapery and ceiling. I'm used to camping in a tent and I've found less spiders in my tent in the past 10 years camping than we did in one night of the airstream. The wedding itself was beautiful. We were seated around 12pm, and it was shaded up until maybe 12:30pm when my side was fully in the sun. Thank goodness I brought a hat! The bride and groom looked beautiful under the archway. After the ceremony, the reception was set for the barn. It was a fun and festive atmosphere but with all the people, it got hot! We found out that the air conditioning had stopped working. Unfortunately this cut short the reception with lots of guests opting to head back to air conditioned rooms. After the wedding we went to the nearby beach and came back to enjoy the pool and jacuzzi. Overall, it was a beautiful weekend and I would definitely recommend this place as both a venue and a weekend getaway. read more

Off the beaten path but not really too far from I-94, the breakfast experience alone is worth a stay. Truly a B and B. Selections are limited in options only; the quality and presentation make each meal epic. Most of the ingredients are sourced from their farm or locally. The food is brought up to the rooms- I think due to Covid- and it adds to the ambience. The coffee is wide awake strong, portions are filling by not ridiculous. Location is centralized to very SW Michigan, easy access to Indiana Dunes National Park, lots of lakeshore and the area is peppered with charming small Mayberrys. read more

Sydney (spelling?), the caretaker was warm, welcoming, and informative. The place has a cozy feel, perfect for unwinding and relaxing in peace and quiet. They have a library of movies to watch, a nostalgic memory of picking out movies at a rental store. Pool has easy access and the freedom to swim at all hours of the day or night. Even nicer now that the good weather is here. This time I stayed in a 2 room ground floor room off the kitchen. It's part of the original house and retains the cool summer cabin feel of the building. The garden is coming in nicely- with lots of places to sit and enjoy the sights. and I was able to sample fresh fruit and veggies and jelly and jam from the property. we had a wonderful time here! the owners are so friendly and personable, we loved talking to them and getting recommendations for food/activities in the area the breakfast youre served each morning is by far the best breakfast ive ever had, and they are sure to accommodate any dietary restrictions (i'm vegetarian and my meal was still AMAZING). the grounds are just breathtaking, our only regret is that our stay is just 3 days! we are definitely looking forward to returning! this place truly feels like a home away from home. read more

Goldberry Woods is a brand new Harbor Country b&b. It sits on a beautiful piece of wooded farmland right near the lake. Eric and Julie have done a great job of renovating the main house and guest rooms, as well as prepping the land and planting a working organic farm. We had a fantastic stay. Some highlights: - Breakfast on the patio. Julie is an awesome cook! Fresh strawberries + yogurt, scrambled eggs with basil, chicken sausage, toast with homemade peach + raspberry jam, and tasty homefries. All in such a gorgeous setting! - The beds! Eric took us on a tour of the rooms and the original handiwork. The beds are all made from trees and look like living sculptures. - We borrowed a kayak and took it down the river in the morning. Had a ton of fun following a great blue heron and navigating toward the lake. - Eric + Julie. Let's be honest, sometimes b&bs can get a little awkward. But these two are gracious, friendly, and fun. We really enjoyed getting to know them. We can't wait to come back in the fall and discover what they've done with the place over the summer. And see the orchard in action! read more

The Goldberry Woods B&B was my very first experience in a B&B. It was the most perfect first time! The setting is so beautiful: set back in the woods in a gorgeous, huge home. The landscaping is nice all around with tons of property. They even have bean bags, badmitton, bikes, kayak and canoes to use free of charge. There is river access on the property. Julie and Eric are such gracious hosts and take great care of their guests and their beautiful B&B! The inside is super clean, charming, modern and tastefully decorated. We felt so very comfortable in this place. I don't think any other B&B will top this one, especially the breakfast. Since they also have a microfarm, they use all fresh ingredients and have amazing recipes that they share with their guests. We loved every minute of it! The Silver Maple Room is where we stayed. It's very roomy, clean and nicely decorated. We will absolutely, 100%, be back again soon. read more

We found this inn quite by accident while traveling between Chicago and South Bend. The owners and innkeepers were super friendly and made my first "Inn Experience" great. The grounds and facilities are gorgeous. 30 acres mostly wooded on a river just 5 minutes from a Lake Michigan private beach. There are bikes, kayaks and paddleboards available for guest to borrow. The innkeeps also have a microfarm on site where they harvest fresh veggies and eggs daily for guest snacks and breakfast. We were there right after Labor Day so the inn was empty except for us. We had the run of the place... I think the in keeps were looking forward to a respite and a chance to rest... we may have spoiled that... If you are a Tolkien fan you will recognize the name of the inn and the name of the innkeepers dog (Ill let you figure that out yourself). Rates and value seemed very good to me but I am a first timer at an inn. I would highly recommend Goldberry Woods. read more

Best B&B around! We stayed at Eric and Julie's adorable bed and breakfast tucked away in Union Pier for the weekend and couldn't be happier with our pick. They may be new at keeping a B&B, but you wouldn't guess it. Goldberry is comfortable and cozy, and before you've finished your breakfast, they're already offering another helping! It was like staying at your friends house for the weekend. The Rooms: Very clean and updated with some fun vintage touches. We stayed in the Ironwood suite - a room in the front of the house off the kitchen. It has a fire place, extra sun room with trundle bed and enormous bathtub. In the main areas, there's also an extra bathroom stocked with any forgotten items (beach towel, hair dryer, toothpaste, etc). The Breakfast: It gets its own category. DELISH. Julie's an amazing cook who really enjoys trying new recipes. She takes great care in creating menus that meet all guests dietary needs, as well as choosing fresh and local ingredients when possible. She tried out her cinnamon chips with fruit salsa on us for the first time... a winner! The Inn: Well kept grounds that are the beginnings of a grand plan. There's a bags game, volleyball net, kayaks, bikes, walking trail. Julie and Eric also have a good sized garden and orchard you can wander around. The Inn has a huge kitchen/dining area with old farm tables. A couple living rooms to hang out in. There's snacks and refreshments around 24/7 (cookie bar at midnight is the best...) They've also collected a variety of books, games and movies....local menus and attraction info to help make the most of your time. Eric and Julie truly enjoy running their Inn, and it shows. I can't wait to return to see what else they've done and what new recipes Julie's mastered! read more

What a gem! My husband and I spent only one night at the Goldberry Woods, but we enjoyed every minute of it. We were looking for a quaint, comfortable place that was not too far from South Bend, IN, and that had that "in the middle of nowhere" feel. This was perfect! The whole place is beautiful and very well taken care of. We stayed at the Driftwood room, which was gorgeous. We really appreciated the layout of the room, with the jacuzzi double doors! The location is great. Within a few minutes, you can get to restaurants, wineries and other local shops. Their customer service is great. Eric called me two days before to ask about dietary preferences/allergies, and they were very accommodating. Breakfast was delicious! Thanks Eric & Julie! Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Goldberry Woods, and highly recommend it for a romantic getaway! read more

Do you ever feel like a picture doesn't do justice to a place? Trying to capture a moment at Goldberry woods will leave you feeling this way. From first glance at the website, this bed and breakfast appears nice. An organic farm with animals, a pool and hot tub, a hiking trail, riverboat canoes, and a little converted RV into a mini farmers market - all seems extremely cute. However, upon arrival I was stunned at how gorgeous the house and land was. It is pure magic and so much more. The owners were able to accommodate our vegan diet and we felt like princesses every morning when breakfast was delivered to our door (the meals were phenomenal and presentation was on point). This is the perfect place for an anniversary, romantic getaway, engagement, or even a wedding. The owners were very kind and accommodating. Attention to detail was obvious every step of the way. Great experience - spent 3 nights here & was very impressed. Lots of space, everything is well-maintained, the breakfasts are excellent and a great time to socialize with owners Julie & Eric or other guests. I'll be dreaming about this morning's lemon-ricotta-pancakes and locally sourced breakfast sausage for weeks! The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, with huge jacuzzi tubs and fireplace (gas). Julie & Eric are great hosts - they give you the respect & freedom to enjoy the experience without strict rules like other B&Bs. We enjoyed late night bottles of wine with new friends each night, and built a nice little bonfire on our last night. Between the microfarm, orchard, hiking, beach, sand dunes, wineries, breweries, restaurants, etc, there's a lot to enjoy here. I can't imagine a more comfortable place to call your home away from home. We hope to be coming back regularly over the years as Julie & Eric's Goldberry Woods BnB has set the bar very high! read more

Came here with my girlfriend for one night, stayed in silver maple. This place is amazing like everyone else says and looks just like the pictures. The jacuzzi tub is huge and is bigger than what the pictures look like. We felt like this room was better than a lot of fancy hotels, and it felt much more like home with the delicious snacks and beverages available, and books and dvds on hand. The grounds itself are really nice, its nice to just go out and take a walk, next time we plan on using the bikes and kayaks that are available. The breakfast they made was as scrumptious as everyone says. We hope we can come back and spend a longer time to enjoy this wonderful place. The only negative is soundproofing is not the best in the rooms. It wasn't a big deal for us, just something to watch out for. read more

Used to come here in a previous incarnation. Always loved it and Julie and Eric, the new owners have continued to offer outstanding service and hospitality. They make you feel as if you are family. Breakfasts are sumptuous and you feel as if you are in the midst of nature when you awake in an extravagant bed with tree limbs over your head. Add the surrounding micro farm, wondrous trails to walk or bike, and a river to kayak or comfortable rooms to play games, watch DVDs, and you have a magnificent retreat. Eight rooms are available, each named after a particular tree and the beds are made from the corresponding wood. You can be as social or as isolated as you wish. No pressure except to do whatever you wish! read more

We spent two nights here a couple weeks back and the whole experience was just great! So cozy and the owners are really wonderful. Breakfasts were really good. If you are hoping to sleep in peacefully, this is not the place for you. The bed and breakfast and grounds are very nice. The bedroom was not conveniently situated. My husband and I were looking for a romantic getaway for the night. He chose this place. The room we were given is on the first floor and the door opens into the kitchen. Around 6 AM people upstairs came clomping down the stairs and soon three women were loudly conversing in the kitchen while cooking breakfast. The walls were paper thin. At that point we were awake. Romantic, right? No. The women seemed to think that if they were up, everyone should be up. But we didn't pay $300 for one night to sleep over at Grandma's! If you want privacy and quiet, choose somewhere else--especially for the price tag. read more
