Worst experience I have ever had as a small business owner. They solicit small businesses by calling and emailing multiple times weekly until you finally bend to their slick sales pitch. Once you sign their contract they take your website and move it to an overseas server and then you will no longer be able to access your site as an administrator. Every time I contacted them about the fact that nothing was happening as far as SEO optimization they would come back with the same empty promise that they just needed more time, "just be patient." Every time I tried to cancel they would threaten that I would lose my content and Google reviews. After 18 months and $7000 I cancelled but they would not acknowledge it. Over a month later they are still trying to collect money from my account and are threatening me. They stole my site and content and are threatening me!! Shame on this company for targeting and ripping off small business owners. I wish someone would start a class action suit! read more

It's a shame I have to give them even one star. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. I hired them last winter to make my business website- long story short they did a terrible job. We were told there was no contract and we could cancel services at anytime. They would not fix the errors on the website even after being contacted several times. I noticed that once payment was due my website would have more spelling errors that weren't there at the beginning of the month so that I would have to pay another month for their services in order to have them fixed. They would never call on our scheduled conference call dates either. We decided to stop all services with them. We were told everything was cancelled. A month later they tried taking $300 out of my account not once but twice. After that was refunded weeks later they did it again illegally as they were only supposed to take the first months payment is all. We were given the run around and basically were told by Chris I. that if we didn't like it their lawyers would be waiting to hear from us. He told my husband "what are you going to do about it, I'm in another state and I'm not doing shit for you. Our bank was given all the emails we had showing they were not authorized to do that and eventually blocked all payments from going through to them after that. Chris I. finally called my husband back and gave us our refund probably because we reported his behavior. We were also told we owned the rights to my website when we started services and after another few weeks they illegally removed my website completely and have yet to give me the rights to my domain. I was so glad to be done with them I didn't even care. Now fast forward to summer- my business has had a consistent 5 star rating on Google and Yelp for more than two years. I was told that someone posted a nasty review on Google about my business. It was from a girl named Angel Schmalz. She was dumb enough to use her real profile and name and it was pretty easy to find out who she was since I knew I had never had a client by that name. Upon looking at her social media I saw that she worked for Town square media interactive. Imagine that. I had never met her or worked with her directly so it was clear that she was seeking out who I was and my business. I contacted her calling her out on her crap and like the coward she is she blocked me. Her boss, Sid Hardt was called and we explained what his employee was doing. He apologized and said he was embarrassed and had her remove those reviews and remove her job title off social media (probably because she's done this a lot to other people and he did not want them figuring out what his low life employee was doing). The reviews were removed only from Google but not Yelp. She then made fake profiles and copied and pasted everything in the previous reviews and flooded my reviews with more poor ratings and lies. In her reviews she said that I was lazy, mean, overpriced and that when services were done in her home things went missing- basically accusing me and my staff of theft and burglary. The fact that she has that much time on her hands just shows how pathetic she is. If you look on their reviews here you'll see how pretty much everyone who uses their services thinks poorly of them. She was mad that her company has real poor reviews and she was jealous that I have outstanding reviews. Dear angel Schmalz, putting fake reviews on about my business isn't going to make your business thrive nor will it make you more money. You just made yourself look desperate and pathetic. It must really bother you that I am doing well and you're probably not making much at your job. I wonder what else you have to do to get ahead at your job? Really surprised at all the negative reviews on here. My company has been with Townsquare for about 8 months now, and we're showing up on the front page of Google in our town for most of our services. They've helped us bring in enough new customers to make the cost more than worth it - we've also gotten multiple compliments on our website. This is a HUGE upgrade in every way from the many online marketing companies I've used in the past (and I've used a lot.) They actually assigned me ONE representative to go through (I don't have to call into a huge call center whenever I want to make a change) so it's extremely easy for me to add pictures or make changes to my site at any time. Every other company I've worked with has expected me to do that stuff myself, even though I thought I was paying them to do just that. Plus, our site looks like it was made in 2017 instead of just being some basic template. Every person I've talked to at the company actually took the time to explain what they were doing to help my business. The communication is first class but the most important thing is that it actually WORKS. I have a feeling that the people writing the negative reviews here had the wrong expectations. SEO isn't going to get you on the front page in a couple weeks - it takes time. I'm also guessing there are plenty of other happy clients like myself out there... most people who are satisfied aren't going to take the time to come on here and write a raving review. This annoying guy named Brian Michael, who claims to be the National Account Director for Townsquare Media, lied to my receptionist and claimed to be from another company in order to get me on the phone. When I realized his ruse, I hung up on him. He then started sending me obnoxious emails, one after the other. What a horrible way to try to get new clients! I signed up for there services and they did not even come close to providing what I asked for I recommend do not use there services! these guys are crooks. I then request for them to delete everything so google doesn't penalize my current site for duplicate content and I was told okay 2 weeks ago yet it's still up and running. I had an optimistic and confident feeling entering into the agreement with townsquare. Each individual I spoke to was extremely attentive and appeared to be very eager to assist. Five months later, I realized my website is completely non-existent and my firm is unable to be located after paying thousands for website and "SEO" work as well as additional funds for "reputation monitoring". Complete waste of funds unfortunately. Staff is polite yet their practice is incredibly deceptive. Well, we're with Townsquare Interactive now for over a year and I must say, that compared to our last web company we had, this is tops. My Senior Digital Marketing Specialist, Ms. Stefanie Stroman is a true professional. We have a big web site and I pass much work on to her, and believe me, it gets done in a flash. I mean I can make some updates as well, but there are many things that need to be done professionally and also quick, and that also includes setting up Pay Pal for us that is being used for a few different affairs. She is such a great person to work with and nothing is too much for her. We feature many different pages on our site, and the photos/pictures going on there weekly is amazing. My sales rep has never contacted me to fix any issues I ever have had other than at the start when they designed a website that my 10 year old could of done better, I needed to ask them to make several changes that they overlooked, my website looked like a 5 year old designed it. We received a call from an employee there in hopes of getting our business. The employee had called months ago and at the time we were just starting up with another company. We asked him to call back in the beginning of 2019 to see if we were happy with our current SEO/digital company. He called back and the owner answered the phone, he told him he was not interested because we like local people and hung up. We received a second call shortly after which was put into voicemail. The voicemail that was left by your employee was extremely unprofessional, rude, and condescending to us and our company. I called the number back the next day to ask the employee for the full name of his company and to speak to his manager. He told me he will not give me the name of his company, nor any other information because it is clear that we are "not a good match." We record all of our phone conversations as we are a business and get verbal agreements with customers, so I had to go back through our recordings to listen for the name of his company on his first phone call. Townsquare interactive is NOT anything special and turned out to be a waste of my money and time. We are a small plumbing HVAC company based in New York. Townsquare is very quick to set up a website and encourage you to invest in them . They make a lot of claims and promises . The only way you're going to get business from their website is by being on page 1 of Google search and that takes effort on their behalf to generate the proper words . Townsquare interactive initially tells you it takes a couple of months to get on page 1. They will string you along month after month telling you that if they switch some words around it will bring up your page rankings - they are sales people They are more interested in making money for Townsquare interactive and for themselves than actually promoting your business. In total I received two phone calls and only one out of the two being a money call which was under $100. With 10 months of advertising and thousands of dollars spent all I can say is I'm so disgusted and disappointed. THEY THE WORST AND A VERY BAD INVESTMENT! I spoke with them on the 2nd and they were supposed to be my mobile site changed and after a week it was not. I called sent emails and no response. I received a phone call from Townsquare and immediately the representative began asking me about my experience with a competitor. Which I thought was odd, because I had no clue what Townsquare represents. I had to ask the representative questions to get clarification as to the purpose of her call. The representative ultimately wanted my money but didn't even take the time to learn my name or even ask me my name. As soon as I answered the phone she called me the wrong name. I asked how much does their services cost? She explained it ranges from $100-$2000. The rep then transferred my call to another representative, so that this new rep could thoroughly explain the prices. This new rep began talking to me about "what type of clients my company screens for"-which has nothing to do with me or my business. The beauty of my job is I'm able to meet all kinds of interesting individuals, no two clients are ever the same. She then began to speak of clients who are on a budget and how I may not work with them-again that statement has nothing to do with my business. I work with all budgets, I even offer payment plans. Then the rep asked if I had a website. At this point, I was displeased with the way Townsquare handles business, this company wants my money, wants me to invest in them, but they haven't even taken the time to review my website, learn my name-didn't even ask me my name. I've never had another company handle themselves so unprofessionally or unprepared as they have. I'll never do business with them, they just make you feel like a dollar sign (the impression I received was there's no need for them to learn my name or about my company, just pass over my money). Having dealt with about 8 different companies that offer so-called web development and SEO services, I have found most simply brag about their ability to "get you on the front page of Google," but when it comes to making your phone ring, and successfully having the website pay for itself, they all fail. They puff up, in the beginning, all their abilities, until they get your money, but then come up with multiple excuses as to why they're not successful. Then they string you along for as long as possible, to generate revenue, but when you ask for a plan to improve results they can't provide one. Their goal is to get your credit card number, and to keep you for one more month, and then one more, and then another. I found Townsquare to be no different. Even though they initially told me the site, which I paid to develop, would be mine when we parted, at the end they told me the site "would not work outside their platform." Even though they admitted the content was mine, after $700 of payments, I had nothing to show for my time and money. And certainly nothing I could use. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. THEIR WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT IS NOTHING SPECIAL, HAVING BEEN GENERATED BY AUTOMATED SOFTWARE, and THEIR SEO EFFORTS DO NOT YIELD ANYTHING NEAR PROSPEROUS. read more

I was working with this company for over a year, paying them over $7000 during that time. When I decided to try another company, they told me they would delete my entire website! Townsquare did a mediocre job while I was paying them (read more below about what happened when I no longer needed their services) I was told no one would be changing content on my website but instead, they'd be editing tags, metadata, Google search terms, all very difficult to understand lingo, etc. However, my content WAS altered, there we plenty of spelling errors and typos (luckily I edited and created my own site I was able to go in and fix them). When I no longer needed their services, I emailed them and asked to cancel our agreement (I no longer had $200 per month in my budget to pay them). After it was understood I would continue out the last month of services with them (May through June 2017), I was slammed with not one but TWO extra erroneous charges. I cancelled my agreement with them on May 10th, 2017 and was convinced to hang on for one more month, they would do more work, and then we would be done. On the 16th of June I was charged $200 again. I disputed it and had my credit card company reverse the charge. I played phone tag with this company for days. I emailed Garrett, who was responsible for my account, and got "away from office" messages. Finally, in an email Garrett told me he thought I wanted to continue services which makes no sense because I specifically said unless I tell you I want to continue services I do not want to continue services. He said that was a "miscommunication". On July 8th I was charged again. I disputed it again. Today I received a phone call from Natasha at the Law Offices of Richard Avis about their client Townsquare Interactive and an outstanding balance. I have left a message for her. I have also spoke with Garrett again, and said he couldn't put me in touch with anyone at their finance department because she was going into a meeting, but instead I "might" get a call back from someone named Victoria today. I'm not sure what is going on, but this is all very sketchy. I thought everyone should know about it. At this point I have no idea what I going on, and I rarely leave poor reviews, but this is really silly. Not only was there not one phone call, client, or even reference from the website, but once my office decided to cancel the services Townsquare refused to respond by email or phone until payments were shut off from them.
