I decided to stick with the house specialty; Landais Au Gratin (cream potatoes, duck breast and emmental cheese). The 2 girls beside me ordered a cider with both their meals so I followed their lead. When in Paris...... Considering the temperature, I almost second-guess myself and ordered something other than their house specialty of au gratin potatoes. In the end, I was very glad I overruled that thought. Brody enjoyed his meal. He just appeared to still be hungry when it was done and a 16 year-old boy that normally has a high caloric intake, I can understand why he wanted a second meal after eating his first! The restaurant in the patio were quite crowded even though we had reservations. They still sat us within five minutes of arrival. Not five minutes is a long time away, but it was still worth the weight as good as the food tasted. We both enjoyed our meals.

We were welcomed with a small basked of shrimp/fish crackers served with some sort of spicy tomato dip which tasted really good. For starters, I had the sambal (spicy shrimp paste) shrimp which was heavenly. The marinated shrimp was grilled to perfection and drizzled with some awesome sauce. My dinner date had the foie gras (why, of course) and the combination of figs, foie gras and toasted baguette slices really set the tone for the entire meal....or so I thought. Both our main course was cod fish in curry (there was a catchier name, I swear) with sticky rice. My heart sank as soon as I had the first bite of the fish. After killing it in the appetizers, I had such high hopes for the fish but the dish turned out to be as bland as plan rice - it was lukewarm, tasteless, spiceless and wasn't too good. I requested for the aforementioned spicy tomato dip in hopes that it would make the dish better but unfortunately, it did not.
