He was immediately tested for his grade level in all subjects. His test scores in Math showed that he was below the National average for his age and grade level. This is something that we already new, since his Math skills were very poor. The first year at Corvid was a struggle because he needed to catch up to his grade level and stay current with all other subjects. He finished the year not only testing at his grade level for Math, but excelling and surpassing his grade level in other subjects. Our son is now a High School Junior at Corvid Academy. He is on his way to graduating next year! Not only has he been able to excel in his studies, he also has the opportunity to gain public speaking, power point presentations and teaching skills. The highlight of his experience at Corvid Academy has been his participation in the amazing yearly Theater Productions. Through the direction of Ms. Shannon Sofa, Corvid Academy has put on spectacular full production musical plays such as "West Side Story". Our son has played major roles in "Grease" and "Disney". They students are now working on the biggest production yet...."Newsies"! I would have never thought that our son would act, sing and dance,be on a big stage, and learn backstage production! Being placed in that school was probably the best thing that my parents could have done for me. I'm not gonna lie and say that going to that school was a perfect experience, because it wasn't. When I first started, I was supposed to be placed in 5th grade, but due to low testing scores was placed a year back. I had a terrible problem with math first coming Corvid. I was a 4th grader who couldn't do simple subtraction, but through numerous one-on-one time with Mr. Johnathan (a teacher at the time) and Mrs. Sofa, I eventually got the hang of it. They took my strength, reading comprehension, and wrote out instructions on how to do it for me to read it and I got it! They then began to do this for each of my math difficulties. I stayed there for the rest of my grades and slowly but surely got caught back up. It was not easy, there were times when I fell behind and thought that I should just give up, but I can guarantee tell you that the teachers do NOT give up on you. No matter how difficult you may be. There were times where I wasn't a good student and I did some things, but they never turned their back on me. Mrs. Sofa cares so much about her students and she wants to see each and every one succeed, even hard-headed students like myself. I believe that I was a junior in High school when Mrs. Sofa and I had a personal talk about what I should do after High School. She suggested that since I wasn't as strong in Math, that I should become an English teacher. She was always telling me how good I was with my English skills and comprehension, so I really took that to heart. She was not the only one who really made an impact on me. Mrs. Shannon also did. She's like a big sister (or even a mom) to me. She's always be there for me to talk to when I felt like I couldn't talk to anyone. She was always there to make sure that I was on track to graduating and when I fell behind she made sure to get me caught up. She made countless schedules and made sure I kept up with them and helped me with the hard lessons. She's also the very one who brought musical theater into my life. She really believed in me and cast me as "Anita" in the production of "West Side Story", "Rizzo" in "Grease", and even the lead of Peter Pan in "Disney Enchanted Dreams." She worked constantly with me on each role. From rolling my r's to becoming more young-boy-like, she was there constantly helping me to perfect my singing and acting. Then there was also Ms. Mary, she's the High School TA, I have to give her props. She's always their making sure we know what we have to be on, and she's always updating our weekly lists so that we don't get behind. Even if we do get behind, she's always there to help make a list to get us back on track. She's aIso an amazing confidant to talk to. I've had a lot of talks and vents with her, and she gives amazing advice that I always take to heart. I will forever be grateful for everything that Corvid has done for me and I will never forget the memories that I made here. I'm currently at Leeward Community College and getting my associates in Secondary Teaching. I hope to transfer to a 4-year-college after my 2 years. I sometimes come by to help out with the kids to get volunteer hours for a college class, and I hope to do more in the future. I like to think of it as giving back to the school for all those years. I don't think I could ever really leave the school, the teachers and faculty have really become like family to me. I credit where I am today to Corvid Academy.

All three of our children are thriving academically and socially. They are all very active on the competitive swim team, hula, ballet, martial arts and voice lessons, all offered at school! I grew up attending a school with about 25-30 students in a classroom so I know what it's like, and I didn't like it. The smaller class sizes is the perfect fit for what we're looking for. A more customizable education tailored for each child's potential. Seeing how much talent has been produced from this small school makes me hold ARA up on a pedestal. The amount of racial trauma I had endured at this establishment was insane. They unfairly single out students of color, would try to get them in trouble for things other students would do, scream and curse at them, share your personal information to staff in front of the students, and then act like nothing happened. A lady (who was not even a teacher & would wear color contacts) would try to recruit other staff to slutshame me, would only try to get me in trouble even if other students would wear the same thing, and even made comments about what i was wearing when i wasnt even at school. This school is very biased towards certain students, at one point a student was able to complete all their classes virtually while everyone else had to go in person because their parents gave them extra money, but god forbid your midriff accidentally shows. When racism and unfairness were brought to the schools attention they did nothing. Instead they screamed at me until I cried and the lady defended it by saying she has friends who are of color so she cant be racist. At one point at the school a teacher would constantly talk about x related things and drugs but was later removed. Another teacher ended up dating one of their students shortly after they graduated but the school invited them back as a dj for a school event.... Ive been holding this in for awhile but this school was one of the worst decisions I ever made. Please just go somewhere else and I hope they replace the staff or atleast get a cafeteria or gym.

However, it was all wasted due to the hiring of the faculty and the staff. The faculty and staff are supposed to be the people who make the school have that energizing motivation to WANT to go to school, however they do the opposite. This may seem biased since I am a former student and kids always seem to "hate" school, but this is all from personal experiences and what I see as a former student and from a sibling who goes to this school. The faculty at this school are extremely toxic within the work areas. The staff at the school and even the teachers are all so harsh and rude. I get that teaching is a hard job, but they shouldn't be pushing and even pressuring students let alone elementary kids. There are few staff and faculty members that are amazing and really give the school the staff they need. But there isn't enough staff like those members. I heard great things from parents who use the service for their children about Kumon learning and read some great reviews both from Yelp (albeit a few) and Google reviews (from the company overall not just this location) but I can't confirm. Two months ago I went in office to inquire about lessons for my dependent nephew who has been struggling with his math. The male employee who was at the desk gave me great information about their schedule, prices, and a brochure and stated that Maureen would be calling me to schedule a placement test (I think that was the test they mentioned but it's been so long I forgot). However, nobody ever followed up. I realize that businesses have been struggling with getting back into their normal routine but, at least give me the courtesy of a call to say you are full or busy and will get back to me. Bottom line, I left my phone number and still no call...that was September 2021. Hellooo mid-November 2021 and still no call. Oh well!

paid for an easter hunt sponsored by this company and drove across the island to be there early for…read morecheckin. showed up and apparently other families that didnt pay helped themselves to baskets which resulted in missing baskets for families that DID pay. after i registered, no one really explained where to go or what to do next so we had to figure it out ourselves. they had to announce the shortage of baskets and the rules.. no running, no shoving, egg stealing,.. etc when they cut the kids loose, majority of them didnt follow ANY directions and snatched 10 eggs before others could even find one. i felt bad encouraging my kids to follow the rules since they found ONE between both of them and watched all the other kids who didnt follow rules have FULL baskets. they encouraged kids with over 10 eggs to give away to those who didnt.. honestly could have stated that in the rules from the beginning. "once you get X eggs, step out for others to find some". waste of money, time, my daughter was bummed. i would have asked for a refund but we just wanted to leave before the disappointment set in further.

My son had an IEP going to this school. So his teachers & counselor knew about his tics (tapping &…read morerandomly saying things/making random sounds) & behavior before hand. We've had multiple meetings. One day after picking him up he had told me about what had happened during school that day. He had told me that the EA teacher had asked him if he wanted to read in front of the class room & he agreed. He told me he was excited that he was asked if he wanted to read in front of the classroom. As he started to read his EA teacher started making sounds loudly & his IEP teacher started banging on the table loudly. While doing this they're laughing & the whole classroom is laughing along. When he asked why they are doing that they said "this is what you do" he was very upset & after that asked to outside to "calm down" as if he shouldn't be upset at what they had done to him. He tired to explain to his counselor that day but felt like he was brushed off & that the counselor agreed with what the teachers had done. After this had happened his VP did leave me a voicemail saying how disappointed she was about how the teachers handle this. I kept my child out of school for a whole month due to he already felt embarrassment, hurt & very confused on why ADULTS would act in this way. They mocked him! Who knows if they will cause him to not want to volunteer to read out loud or go up in front of a classroom again. I had lost trust in these teacher who are suppose to be his support team & who are suppose to make him feel like he is in a safe place ! I've contacted the principal to see if he could change classes or accommodated somehow with another outside IEP teacher but he pretty much said no & that, that IEP teacher is his teacher/on his staff team & that I could think about other options like homeschooling or find another school to put my child in. The only other option was to TRUST in him & have my child mend his relationship with this EA & IEP teacher & the way he said it was with no sympathy at all! He said it in an aggressive tone. He said that the teachers will be receiving some type of consequences but couldn't say what that was exactly because it's confidential. So again during the time that my child was out of school the principal kept saying that we would "find a way" to get him back into school but there really wasn't any changes going to be made. Only two options he gave was to have my child mend his relationship with his teachers or homeschool/transfer him. So as a parent I would not recommend this school. I would not put my trust in the principal there. He only seems to want it his way or pretty much go find a new school when they're at fault. He walks around with a smile but you can see past that when you actually have a conversation with him that it's all for show. Miss Windh who was his IEP teacher was very unprofessional! She & the EA are not fit to be teachers! Especially if you have no patience with children with an IEP. It's unbelievable that she was not fired for her actions & also the EA. They now probably think that they got away with what they did to a child who is only in the 3rd grade. Two adults had to gang up on him to make their egos feel better. I'm so glad I didn't make him go back to that school & took him out. I'm glad I didn't put my TURST back into that principle. MY TRUST IN THEM SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN BROKEN IN THE FRIST PLACE. My child didn't deserve to be put in that position at all! They failed him & I hope they don't ever fail another child again!
