Despite my not being of his typical community, he was welcoming and warm. He didn't even mind my asking him questions that challenged some things I believed. He was happy to answer, patient in listening, and kind in his response. I was happily surprised to learn how knowledgeable he was without being too preachy or judgmental. The church itself is beautiful with it's 13 pews on each side and well equipped for a lovely ceremony where everyone can hear and enjoy the ceremony. The woman (Tanya I believe?) who assisted along with it was wonderful as well. She was gentle but firm and did a great job orchestrating it.

The Church is comfortable and welcoming, without being mid-evil gothic, that one has come to expect with Catholic Structures. The priest, Fathers Joe and Walter are inspirational and caring. The parishioners are friendly and many sacrifice their time to keep things going. My children received a good Christian foundation and have many fond memories of their years at Christ the King. The best news is that Fr. Joe and Fr. Walter are gifted speakers, and neither are long winded.

The church was built in the mid 1800s and would seat up to 400 in its heyday. Being set in the area of the great revivals of the past, perhaps it's time people in the community fill it up again! This is an Evangelical congregation with a sound experienced pastor. It has a superb women's ministry and its people do weekly activities in the community. The services are small and intimate with a great choir and pipe organ. The members range from 0-100 years in age and come from all walks of life. There is free child care during services. One of my favorite things about Crossroads is it's global involvement, ranging from Kiva loans to mission trips. The true spirit of volunteerism is apparent at the New London Homeless Hospitality Center, Haitian Health and many other local charities. Everyone really is welcome here, it's an awesome place to call "my church".
