While it's a smaller facility, it…read moretruly has everything you need to reach your personal fitness goals--whether that's general strength training, bodybuilding, powerlifting, or simply shedding a few pounds. There's plenty of equipment to go around, and even during peak hours you rarely have to wait more than a couple of minutes to use a machine, bench, or squat rack. The gym is also exceptionally clean; it's clear the owners take pride in the space, because you'll barely find a speck of dirt or even a smudge on the mirrors. The owners, Norm and Joanna, are some of the nicest people you'll meet. They're also very knowledgeable trainers who offer personalized training sessions tailored to your individual goals. What Titan Gym may lack in size, it more than makes up for with its sense of community. The members are incredibly welcoming and diverse--ranging from college students and young professionals to parents and older adults staying active in their later years. It's a place that supports both casual gym-goers and serious lifters alike (including a member who recently placed first in a state powerlifting competition). You also won't find the stereotypical "gym bro" atmosphere here--people are respectful of each other's space, time, and noise levels. The people here also organize activities outside the gym as well, ranging from Spartan races and marathons to casual hikes, beer festivals, concerts, and even weekend gaming. At the time of writing this review, Titan Gym is located in Alamo Ranch, though they plan to move to a much larger facility later this year (close to the Santikos Theatre). That will be a great step forward, as the current space can feel a little cramped in certain areas. Still, even in its current form, Titan Gym manages to create an environment that feels welcoming, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable to be part of. I'm personally a Texas transplant, and finding this gym went a long way to making this place a new home.

His coaches are very professional, hard working, knowledgable, and are machines. Celeste is one of the coaches there and first off, she is in a constant beast mode. This chic puts the dudes to shame! The other coaches are great too (Curtis, Jesse, Alex, I'm sure I am missing a few). The athletes that crush WOD's at CFL are motivating, friendly, and welcoming. Every time I am in San Antonio, I visit every day I can. They also have a smoothie bar, you can purchase supplements, and apparel there too. So you're probably thinking why I only gave it four out of five stars. Well, when I attend a CF box, I expect filacio and to be doing lines of blow off of strippers asses. Unfortunately, this does not happen at CFL, but I have been told my requests will be accommodated. I would even accept doing blow off of hot chic CF athletes, but call me crazy!

Being a garage gym guy I needed to see how I would fare in the daily competitive environment that boxes offer (you just can't get that working out alone or with one friend most of the time). While I have nothing negative to say about any of the gyms I dropped into, I do have much to rave about when it comes to CFL. Facility and equipment: Pretty straightforward here. They have all the equipment you need for a CrossFit gym. They have it and they have a lot of it. You won't be sharing bars or looking for space on a wall, blah, blah.. The facility itself is quite large and this is important when it comes to safety with large groups and the intense nature of CF workouts. Let me add that I've witnessed regular cleaning and maintenance of this facility and equipment. Oh, and there are 4 restroom/showers, a kids room, a separate kitchen area, and an entirely separate room where I would hide when I just wanted to do my own thing and avoid the hard work (thank you Jason). Parking is plentiful. Programming: Never had a bad thing to say about the programming. I am a Physical Therapist (selfless plug) and although I do not adhere to smart practices all the time, I can confidently say that programming here is competent enough that risk from overuse, or consecutive days of doing the same thing, just wasn't present. There was always a dynamic warm up that was relevant to the metcon and just enough strength and skill work to keep you maintained (if you want to be better then you def have to do more but most gyms will tell you that anyway). There is a ton more that I can add however I'm halfway through writing a novel now and I have a few more items to touch on. Coaches: Loved 'em all. Responsible and approachable. I'd say I made some of my best friends at this gym (not biased at all). If you've been part of a box before, you know there is always turnover in this area but I would argue that this is a good thing. New opinions and new flavors help growth. Owners: Jason is a motivator. You'll hate him, you'll love him, whatever. He won't let you quit without a push. He will help you find a new you. He didn't help me because I avoided him most of the time (I'm lazy, and arrogant). In all seriousness, I can't even begin to describe how grateful I am to have met Jason and his family, so I won't. You'd have to drop in and formulate your own opinions. I look forward to training or pcs'ing to San Antonio again for many reasons. These guys are one of those reasons. Hope you lasted through this review, trust me it could have been longer...

(-) 1-Star Review - Fitness Connection (West San Antonio)…read more This is by far the worst gym experience I've had in San Antonio, and it has nothing to do with the equipment alone. The real issue is management and how they handle customers. I initially came in to use a 5 day pass. I was told it had to be used on five consecutive days, which was not clearly explained upfront. After using just one day, I was denied entry unless I paid for a day pass that was quoted around $40-$50. That pricing is unreasonable, especially when other gyms offer full monthly memberships for far less. The facility itself is overcrowded, equipment is frequently dirty or out of service, and the overall environment feels poorly maintained. The biggest problem, though, is how memberships are handled: * I was signed into a month to month plan without clear explanation or consent * I ended up paying around $200 total without even properly using the gym * This included: * Monthly dues * An unexpected annual fee ($60) * When I submitted my cancellation on March 31, I was told I still had to pay for the entire month of April due to a 30 day notice policy, even though the next billing cycle hadn't started That already felt excessive, but it got worse. When I canceled, the manager asked for my reason, which I clearly explained: * Poor communication * Misleading membership explanation * Lack of transparency However, the receipt I received listed my reason as: "Member does not use the gym" That is completely inaccurate and not what I said. This is a serious issue. If management is willing to misrepresent customer statements on official records, that raises concerns about how they handle complaints and internal reporting. Final Thoughts * This location feels disorganized and poorly managed * Staff at the front desk are fine, but management lacks professionalism and transparency * Policies are either not explained clearly or are enforced in ways that feel predatory I strongly recommend: * Reading every detail before signing anything * Asking direct questions about billing, annual fees, and cancellation terms * Getting everything in writing I would not recommend this location to anyone based on my experience.

It's exactly the vibe I look for in a gym: a classic, no bullsh**, weights clangin and bangin, full of people who are putting in genuine hard work. Immediately upon arrival a member helped us locate the owner, Roger, who got us set up with some day passes. That alone blew me away because out here, anyone would have just let us look around lost. I'm getting really bad with names but if she's reading this I want her to know she's so appreciated. Roger was also awesome. He checked in on us once we were settled, chatted with us about what we were doing in San Antonio, and gave us recommendations for surrounding neighborhoods (we were there to check out homes for potentially moving). I always appreciate gym owners who take the time to get to know the people working out with them. It gives you that level of connection you miss out on with commercial gyms. The gym itself is not your fancy commercial gym. It's the same gym it has been the whole time with classic machines, dumbbells, racks, etc. There's plenty of room for a decent amount of people to be there at the same time and still get a great workout in. I'm telling you, if you're in San Antonio, and you want a place where you can put in genuine hard word, go to Joe's. Coming to this gym was hands down one of the best parts of our trip to Texas and I am so excited to go back!
