Grilled vegetables - perfect with the swordfish!
    Ruben G.

Let's face it, Taormina has a LOT of places where you can enjoy a quality meal... ...and in our time here, THIS has been the place to go. No, it isn''t on the Corso Umberto (so you'll save some € right off the top), and it is not a large restaurant - so your food HAS to be just right or they wouldn't survive. Not only are they surviving, they are THRIVING, because their food is so good! We'd read about the Swordfish with a pumpkin sauce and fennel on another review - my wife had that and it was astounding. The morsels of swordfish were bite sized, tender, and oh, so flavorful! Yes, this is definitely one of their signature dishes - although our waitress (fluent in English) advised her to get a side dish to complement her order - she went with grilled vegetables, which turned out to be the perfect accompaniment. My Linguine con Fruta Di Mare was spectacular. Mouth watering to look at, it was loaded with morsels of squid, mussels, clams and shrimp. Fantastic! Whatever you choose to have, DO save room for dessert! Their tiramisu is without a doubt, among the top three i've ever had. Buon appetito!

    Lobster pasta

I ordered the lobster pasta. For 30€ (it's expensive for this area) you get only a small and only half of a lobster. The taste was ok, I had far better ones. My friends ordered pasta Norma (eggplant pasta) for 15€ which you normally get for 8-10 € elsewhere and these were also just ok. In short: this Place is considered slightly more expensive than other places. They automatically charge a tip of 2.50€ per person. The taste is very average and we would not come back again. The Ambiente was also ok.

Been going here for years and the food is consistently excellent and the staff friendly.

This place was hands down amazing. I can't recall the names of the items, but everything single thing we ordered was hands down amazing. We were blessed with an amazing server Irina, who was so sweet and kind. She gave us reconnections and made sure we had a pleasant experience. We came here for lunch and spent a good two hours and enjoying the experience. I'm going to dream about this place.

Pennette di mimmo and shrimp diablo

I will preface this by saying that my SO is a chef and so we both have incredibly high standards for quality of food when we choose to eat out. That being said, everything about this meal was perfect, and if you are staying in Taormina or are willing to brave the narrow, winding streets to drive here, you will not be disappointed. It was our first night in Sicily, we were staying about 40 min away near Riposto, and we were lucky enough to call at 6:30 on a Friday and get a reservation for 7:30. We called them at 7:30 to let them know we were searching for parking and would be a few minutes late, and they were so gracious. Found a small parking lot (see my illustrated photo for directions), handed over the keys to our rental car for 3 euro/hour, and ran over to the restaurant. We sat inside and it was lovely. I ordered a bottle of white wine, and my SO and I, who are huge sushi/sashimi lovers, shared one portion of the Sicilian style carpaccio (shrimp, salmon, swordfish, and tuna) and it was to die for. He had the shrimp diablo (can't remember exactly what it was called on the menu) and he loved it, generous portion at 9 large skrimps! I had the Pennette di Mimmo which she warned me was medium spicy, but it was so perfect and I was nearly brought to tears with my first bite. For dessert I had the tiramisu and he had the chocolate and white chocolate mousse, both excellent. Bill came to just under 100 euro and I would have paid much more, it was just that good. One warning about the parking I recommended and using gps - when you exit the parking lot, you must make a left down the narrow street, which ends a block later forcing you to go left or right. We followed our gps down the hill and to the left, and ended up in a street too narrow for our car (VW golf, not a large car!) caused some damage, and wound up having to reverse about 100 feet and make a zillion point turn to turn around and go back a different way. All that is to say, if your gps directs you to go down the hill and to the left DONT DO IT, go right instead, and let your gps re route you. Buon appetito!

Been all over the island and so many of the restaurants are tourist traps with terrible food. The food here is epic! So happy we happened upon this establishment.

    Tiramisu

This was epic. The special of the day was big red shrimp in a sauce of oil, garlic, peperoncini, and brandy. It was impressive. The tiramisu was also good enough to live up to it being the namesake of the restaurant. I would definitely eat here again. Don't let the number of languages they translated the menu into scare you away. There was a wasp flying around my food and head though on the terrace so it could be a good idea to sit inside.

    Seafood salad

Best seafood meal of my life!!! We shared the seafood salad, pesto pasta, and seafood chowder. Our server not only spoke the clearest English I've heard since we got here, she also recommended a terrific wine. The staff is very warm and prompt. Don't miss the tiramisu! You won't regret it. We went on a Thursday night around 9pm - got to experience some fun local performing musicians as they strolled through. Reservations are a good idea, although they squeezed us in inside.

We had a delicious dinner at Trattoria Tiramisu. We shared a very fresh mushroom ravioli and eggplant and ricotta pizza. Tasted so good ! Service was excellent. We also had a grilled vegetable salad that was so good we forgot to take a picture before devouring it.

Hands down the best pasta I have ever had! My only sadness is that I don't live in Sicily so I can't eat it more often. I highly recommend!

One thing to note is that Osteria da Rita dal 1991 does NOT take reservations under any circumstance and is walk in only. I tried to go through the local 5 star hotel concierge at our resort and they didn't have access, and I also tried to secure reservations myself (I work for a high end travel/concierge company) and also was unsuccessful myself. But now, I understand why after going there. When you walk up, try to go towards the start of their dinner hours to get in line for a standby table. As tables "turn" the next table in the line is seated, that way everyone at the restaurant is treated fairly and is seated as tables are available. There were people in line with us that had dined there 2 or 3 times for dinner during their vacation, so we knew we were in for a treat because dining in Taormina is absolutely outstanding! Right across from the line queue, there in a gelato shop with a takeaway bar that sells wine, beer, and alcoholic drinks that you can take into the line while you wait for your table. At the time of our visit in June 2025, we were able to get a bottle of wine for 15 Euros that we drank while waiting on our table for about an hour to an hour and a half. When we were seated, we were greeted warmly by restaurant staff and they brought over the menus and complimentary bread and bruschetta. We also ordered the bottle of house wine to start as well and it was really good! For starters, we ordered the Spaghetti da Za Rita (15 Euros) and the Lasagna al Ragu (15 Euros). Both had homemade pasta and the quality was out of this world, everything was super fresh. For the entree we ordered the Lemon Flavored Meatballs (16 Euros) and these were out of this world, also very fresh and an amazing main course to share! We were full by the time we got through with dinner, so we didn't order any dessert but all of the desserts looked amazing! They did bring over a complimentary shot of limoncello to close the meal which was also greatly appreciated as well! It's truly an amazing restaurant and a must try spot if you're in Taormina!

What a lovely spot. Don't ask for butter with the bread lol…read moreComplementary bruschetta.
