My home away from home, Casa del Caffe welcomed me with open arms. I lived at this cafe for a few…read moredays while exploring Heidelberg and the surrounding areas. It is very comfortable, intimate, and filled with tons of friendly locals. The ladies and gentlemen who work here smiled lots and went out of their way to answer my questions about Heidelberg and the neighboring towns. They also replenished my latte many times as I entertained them with American humor, politics. With the cafe's desirable location on an old cobblestone street, the delectable drinks, sandwiches and sweets lure people walking by to lay down their roots and enjoy the cafe's treasures. Heidelberg is a romantic picturesque college town. I look forward to visiting again and spending many more afternoons at Casa del Caffe.

It was a cream sauce with bacon but it tasted semi- store bought. It was lacking that rich carbonara flavor. The pizza was crisp and had a good flavor. It was probably the best dish out all of them. The pasta with tomato cream sauce was ok but the pasta noodles were overdone. The sauce itself was mediocre at best. They served rolls that were cold and hard as a rock. All in all everything was just ok nothing special. The service was great though which made up for the lackluster food. Not sure I'd ever go back.

Interesting thing about this place is that everything is made to order. So if you're in a hurry or have a large group, this place is probably not for you. Thankfully, our group, which consisted of my mother, my sister, and my brother, were not in a rush. My sister opted for the pizza, my brother for the tuna salad, and my mother and I wanted pasta. I will say that the pasta prep seemed to take a little longer than usual, as my sister and brother had already started on their meals prior to my mother and I getting ours. However, good things do come to those who wait, because my Carbonara was out of this world!! The decor of this place is very homely and comfortable. Their pay system is also interesting, as they give you a proximity card to log your items, then take up to the cashier near the front when you're done. All in all, a great experience in a foreign country...nothing like getting good Italian food in a German city!

This is the wonderful Italian restaurant that we visited last year. Again, they did not disappoint. Our meal was absolutely wonderful. I would recommend this sweet family restaurant to anybody who enjoys authentic Italian. I'm only second generation Italian in the United States so I have been lucky to enjoy some very authentic Italian food at home and of course when we visit Italy, I find it everywhere but what a treat to enjoy an authentic meal in one of my favorite German cities. You need to visit this little gem in a Heidelberg.
