Cute and cozy with delicious pizza! Definitely big enough to share for two unless you're really hungry. Great service!

We stopped by for dinner last evening after visiting schloss Heidelberg. Was hungry n walking around haupstrabe and came across this restaurant. Normally not a fan of Italian food but we were hungry n not many restaurants that appealed to us in that vicinity. Was a beautiful evening so sat outside in marktpltz. Service was a lil slow as always. Had the mozzarella di Buffala , Insalata di rucola n tomato soup. The mozzarella di buffala was v good w pesto, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and cherry tomatoes. For mains we had the Diavlo pizza w spicy salami n pepperoni, pizza genovese, spaghetti Aglio E olio and spaghetti pesto alla genovese. Since we hadn't had Italian in a long time the food tasted v good. Not a morsel Left . Topped it off with tiramisu n soufflé al cioccolato. Great meal. Tx u Papi 4 a great yummy dinner read more

I spent 180 € @ Toscana last night (15/12)and not @ Papi. Here's why: My wife and i walked into Papi at 7 excited to eat there for the first time. Menu looked great and location is super convenient to the Christmas Market. Reviews on Open Table were excellent, not so much on Trip Advisor. As we entered, the restaurant was more than half empty. And an hour earlier, I noted on Open Table available reservations every :15 minutes for the entire night. So safe bet we didn't need a reservation, right? Wrong. Papi's hostesses informed us they had no room for the 2 of us. It's their restaurant, their rules but very disappointing and super odd that in a half empty restaurant they wouldn't find us a table. And that's how we ended up taking our business and money elsewhere. BTW Toscana (across the platz) was outstanding! read more

The pizza here is as good as in Naples, no joke. We had 2 of the margarita , they call it Venezia something-or-other but it's the buffalo mozzarella with san marzano tomato-sauce. Top notch everything. Fresh basil on top. Crust is to die for. Wife had the burrata pizza with pesto. Also excellent. Service was accommodating but typically European (not in your face and you have to ask for things when you need them). I read some of the negative reviews and they are about the service. Sorry my fellow Americans, they don't baby you in Europe like the states - because they don't need your tip as desperately as US workers do. Grow up. Also, if you go here in the warmer months, unless you like yellow jackets swarming your food, dine inside. Easily the best neopolitan pizza I've had outside of Italy. read more

Surprisingly good per current review rate. we ended up here by accident as our original plan didn't work out and this one is near by at Kornmarket. Myself go spaghetti with pesto sauce. The presentation was great in a black plate. The size served smaller than typical US portion but just right size for me. The best part is the perfect level of noodle cooked. Not to mushy nor chewy. With the olive oil and pesto sauce, it was a great combination with every fork. Pizzas were not my favorite food at Italian places. My two coworker loved their dish. Tiramisu was excellent as well as cappuccino here. Services were a bit slow as one waitress for fully occupied restaurant. read more

Ate here for lunch and if I could give this place five stars for ambience and location they would get that. The pizza would get 4 1/2 stars and service probably 4 stars. Overall my dining experience was good. I sat in front of the restaurant so there was always servers around. They also have a section in the middle of the Square which I can see where service could be hit or miss. read more

After spending a few hours at Heidelberg Castle, we walked to marktplatz while keeping an eye out for something to eat. We were planning on going to a few restaurants by the main central station but this place had amazing outdoor seating in the plaza and amazing smelling food. Our waiter was very nice and the food was DELICIOUS, the crust was to die for! I would rank this as the best marinara pizza I have had to date. Views were amazing, 10/10 recommend! read more

We sat down at this restaurant and ordered drinks which took forever. Then ordered some appetizers when my husband went to buy a watermelon to share with the group. When we asked for some napkins we were told we couldn't eat it there and that we were being rude. We paid and left, they were far from hospitable. Wir kamen hier vorbei nach einer Wanderung und waren super durstig und hungrig. Weil ich zuerst gefragt hatte ob es WLAN gibt (das Netz in Heidelberg Altstadt ist schrecklich) wurden wir gefragt, nachdem wir uns gesetzt hatten, ob wir hier auch wirklich bestellen wollten. Bei einem teuren Restaurant wie diesem mit 67€ Rechnung für zwei Pizzen (Achtung: nur Bargeld!) kein sehr schönes Gefühl. Service war auch weiterhin unfreundlich und besonders vom weiblichen Personal wurden wir sogar völlig ignoriert. Die Beratung war falsch und am Ende hat der Büffelmozarella (den ich liebe) auf der Pizza gefehlt. Eine erneute Zubereitung hätte nochmal 20 Minuten in Anspruch genommen und also habe ich mich meinem Schicksal gefügt. Bis auf diesen Zwischenfall war das Essen lecker, die zugesicherte Zubereitungszeit wurde aber (natürlich) nicht eingehalten. Auf Nachfrage kam die Antwort in etwa "das hier ist keine Maschine." Wir hatten aber extra vorher nachgefragt und wären sonst woanders hingegangen. Wir haben auch mehrmals noch überlegt zu gehen als wir schon bestellt hatten. Ambiente ist laut und hektisch, eben mitten in der Fußgängerzone, sodass auch Leute die nichts im Restaurant zu suchen haben unmittelbar an deinem Tisch vorbeigehen. Für mich zu stressig, für andere Leute mag das gehen. Alles in allem keine Erfahrung die 67€ Wert ist (wir sind Studenten, die sich aber gerne mal etwas gönnen wenn es in einem vernünftigen Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis steht. Ich bin dabei anspruchsvoller als mein Freund.) Dementsprechend gab es auch kein Trinkgeld. Wer das Geld locker machen kann und nicht mit allzu großem Hunger kommt der kann hier eine leckere Pizza in fußgängerzonen Atmosphäre genießen. read more

Service was excellent on the plaza. Drinks came with a generous bucket of ice and lemon. Pasta and pizza were served hot and fast. Walked past the kitchen on the way to the washroom and it was clean and professional. Prices a little high as you would expect in its location. read more

I had a wonderful personal pizza at a reasonable price. Good beer. Friendly server. As is the case in Germany generally, staff does not hover--you call them when you need something. One was always in sight. 2/3 of the tables were full and most lingered. I'll come back to explore the menu more. read more

I was lured to Papi by an Instagram ad with a photo of their Neapolitan style pizza. I've lived in Heidelberg for six months and had a lot of bad pizza, but I was curious. Some friends and I made a reservation for a Sunday evening at 8:30 and got there on time. There was a short wait until our table was ready so the bar offered us a glass of champagne while we waited. I'd say we waited less than ten minutes and then were seated at a nice table in the back. We all ordered various kinds of pizza and agreed that it was absolutely delicious; this is easily the best pizza I've had in Heidelberg! The crust in particular was excellent. We had great service from friendly waiters and really enjoyed our visit. read more

We stopped in after a few hours at the castle. We walked right in. We tried to request a table in German and the staff realized English would be easier for us and they switched to help us. We were served promptly with no issue. We each ordered a different specialty pizza. It was so good! I had the Tennessee - I would order it again! 2 stars because the food was tasty. Otherwise, this place would be no stars from me. The bathrooms were filthy. Trash all over the place. Rude servers. The ones who were supposed to be helping the customers couldn't be bothered to get off their phones. We ordered 3 different pasta dishes. For the price, the portions were tiny. If you are standing in front of this restaurant, ask yourself, do the diners look happy? Because I have never felt more compelled to leave a negative review. Drinks and cutlery delivered well after food. One dish (mine) missing from order. After enquiring several times we were told 'the chef says you will have to wait' (at this point all other diners in our party had finished). So do not visit this restaurant.... they will screw you over... if you get a table, they might randomly take it away from you, under the pretext of table suddenly being reserved... and nobody is safe... old ladies asked to leave after being just minutes before being shown to their tables.... and do you know why? They just wanted to order drinks.... Jep this restaurant throws people away, because they don't generate enough revenue.... and when my girlfriend confronted the waiter with this curious customer service..... he said that he does not want to have to explain himself for doing what doing.... they are to leave when asked to...... well guess what if you want accept a little bit of revenue from some old ladies... your are getting non from me....... read more
