Missing the cocktail bars in Brooklyn, this felt just like Home as soon as we walked in. The cocktail menu is vast but the host was able to narrow it down for us based on our alcohol of choice and general preference. The cocktails were all fantastic and the host (wish I remembered her name) was great! Minus one star only for the cloud of smoke inside - it is a relatively small bar and closed and smoking is allowed inside. It was a bit uncomfortable towards the end but the cocktails eased the pain! Return? YES! Just need to plan my next visit to Berlin ASAP.

The menu is just a start. What really takes you in is getting into a dialogue with the bartender, who looks you deep into your eyes and tell you what you need. On top of impressive alcohol selection they produce their own combinations, which is second to none. Try "White Russian" for example, based on self made ingredients ! Unmatched ! The back area seeme to be more well it and lively, but we werent there for that experience. We did not have any food, so i can't speak to that. The service was great. Outstanding mixologist. Like I said, we started by going to the wrong doorbells which were for the apratment. The actual speakeasy looks closed and out of business from the front. Eventually after a few other people showed up, someone came to the door and asked what we were doing there. They were in character the whole time. Once we delcared our purpose, they brought us back. As to not spoil it, lets just say it is very well hidden. The drinks inside were perfect. Well made with unique recipes and ingredients. It was a bit smoky, but not crazy while we were there. Marlene is located in the Hotel Intercontinental Berlin, and you might immediately think "mediocre food from a hotel restaurant." Not so! The food is excellent here. My colleagues and I ate here twice in our week-long stay, and one of us had room service another night. What did we have at those meals? A hamburger, salmon, pasta, broiled chicken, and a Caesar's salad with shrimp. All these dishes were excellent, and you would enjoy any of them or the other dishes we did not try - like veal schnitzel. However, the best dish is the side order of French Fries, called dip fires for their U-shaped appearance for dipping. These are some of the best fries my colleagues and I have had. The fries did not need ketchup or mayo (used in Europe). I don't know what they cook the fries in, but they are great. We had some at each meal, and they were tremendous each time. Even if you don't want or can't get a full meal here, you owe it to yourself to eat some of the fries, Eating at another restaurant nearby? Stop here along the way and get some fries. You will not be sorry.

Brightly illuminated in red lights with the haze of cigarette smoke in the distance and loud music thumpin in your ears, Reingold is THE spot for locals and tourists alike. I heard a mix of international languages being spoken here and that made me sip my cocktail in great pleasure. The cocktail list is alluringly extensive and everything looks so GOOD. You can't go wrong with a floral Aviation, a citrusy Dartmoor Smash, a boozy Old Fashioned or gin martini (2 olives please!) and even a Vera Cruz that's dessert like with tequila and coffee is very well balanced. I made sure to chat up Shaba, our phenomenal bartender and after a couple of rounds, we were best friends. We ended the night with tequila shots on the house. EPIC. The bartenders were dressed alike in white shirt with dark pants and suspenders. The outdoor patio seating is probably nice on a warm (not humid) night. They guided us through their menu (which changes every week) and how they use all local ingredients for all of their drinks. I was already super impressed. My husband and I both had two drinks each and it was all sublime - they definitely know what they are doing here and clearly take a lot of pride in their work. In addition to creating delicious cocktails, we had such a good time just making conversation with the bartenders. We got to learn more about Berlin, their ingredients, and how they create what they put on the menus. They even offered a little sample of a liqueur that piqued my interested, which was unexpected but so so nice of them!
