Arrived in Scotland from California determined to walk the 134 miles of the new John Muir Way. The…read moretrail is so new I had difficulty finding out much about it before I arrived other than it was much shorter and relatively flat compared to the John Muir Trail in California. My goal was to backpack and wild camp right before I hurt my back the day before I left. I arrived at Helensburgh (trail head) knowing I need to rest my back a few days and the night before I left I contacted this service asking for assistance. It was great! They had other bags already scheduled so adding my single pack was not a problem. I was able to leave the next morning with a daypack and arrangements were made with my B&B to hold the big pack for pick-up. The first day was a bit rough as I was trying to use a GPS and follow the round purple signs as I had not been able to locate a map and guide book. I traveled about 9 miles before meeting Steve at the first stop in Balloch. Steve was able to provide me with valuable advice as he has already completed the JMW, he had several maps and books to recommend and he is local so he knows the 'ins and outs' of the towns along the way as well as the highlights of things not to miss. Steve was supportive of my wild camping and knows the access code and assisted me in understanding it and finding my first and second night camp sites. The team has continued to be a valuable resource for me along the trail and they are just a call or text away for information. Their fees are very reasonable and this service goes a long way in making sure you have a fabulous time on your vacation. Although they are managing multiple hikers along the JMW they are always friendly and take time to help. Thanks for all the information and the baggage support.
