My other friend had the burger and was also happy with that. This pub has changed so many times over the 20 years I have lived down the road. It is right on Pennant Hills Road. It is much brighter and cleaner now than it has been in a very long time. The new renovations are truly amazing. I personally think it kind of looks and feels a bit RSL club like. If they would add some more soft furnishings and a lot more plants it might take this feeling away. But then maybe that is the feeling they were going for. There is a nice function room that has all the soft furnishings and differently set up than the club looking atmosphere. It was open when we were there but I don't know if that was for anyone or if it was being used for a function. There is an area for kids to play that is very popular. The day I was there I will tell you there were babies crying quit a bit :( There is a nice outdoor beer garden. They have a few large TV screens around the place too. It's nice that they have a place for kids and if loud kids bother you, kids are not so bad later at night. They have a sports bar with a pokie area a pool table a large TV and of course a TAB that is separate from the eating area. This pub is lucky as it is right across from train station so if they play their cards right it could be a very hoppin place.

And you can stop off at the bottle-o attached to the bar and bistro and take something home; the staff there are really helpful to when you're not sure of what you want. Most locals refer to the pub as the "Pymbie", drawing in workmen for its cheap steaks and a beer or two. Upstairs houses functions and can hold over 100 people. Unfortunately the bistro closes relatively early in the evenings if you want a bite to eat. The food is good and there is plenty of entertainment from the standard pub trivia night to pool competitions and social events. The room was spacious and the room has all the facilities: magnetic key, comfy matress; clean sheets/doona; individual lights and USB plugs for each bed; individual big lockers; mirror; AC. The toilet and shower is separate, what is very convenient and have soap and hair dryer. The hostel has a very goos infrastructure: complete kitchen, cafe, leisure area, Wifi, terrace, coin laundry with free iron. The hostel has good/cheap meal schedule for everyday and sometime offers free food like free pancakes for example. Some of the rooms are inside of train cabins, which sounds cool (mine was not this type!)

Stayed here several times whilst in Sydney. This backpackers is centrally located, and adjacent to…read moreCentral railway station - in fact, they even share a platform! The main building is a converted former parcel shed (for the mail trains) and houses dorm accommodation and private rooms with shared facilities. You can also stay in converted train carriages right on the platform! Our first stay here was a night in one of the train carriage dorms and it was clean, comfortable and the temperature was kept cool (you have no idea how important this is until you stay somewhere with no air con and can't sleep because it's so hot!). There are lockers for storing your belongings in the dorm. The back windows look out directly onto the station platforms so there is a fair bit of activity from the station but it's not too noisy - I'm a fairly light sleeper and my sleep was only briefly disturbed by an XPT train arriving early in the morning! On subsequent visits we stayed in private double rooms in the main building, basic but clean and comfortable. The main building contains the reception area, shower facilities, laundry room, large kitchen, shop/café counter, and common dining and lounging areas. There are lockers on the platform to store luggage. Outside at the front there is a small pool and sun lounging area, and there is a BBQ area outside the front door. The staff were all helpful and welcoming. They advised us of the free CBD area bus service (number 555) which runs between Central and Circular Quay - the bus stop is just on the main street outside the hostel. Keep an eye out on the blackboards for things happening in the hostel (BBQ nights, etc.) and organised trips.
