The worst experience I have ever had with a dentist... All I wanted was a cleaning and since I refused any work other the cleaning, Dr Chris told me to go find another dentist. His demeanor instantly changed and he became hostile and aggressive because I refused his recommendation for a root canal. The man has serious issues and I wouldn't trust my mouth to him. Dr. Chris Mazzola is a great dentist and very knowledgeable about helping me with my TMJ issues. The assistants are very kind and make sure you are comfortable during your treatment. Recently, I switched my dentist. There is not one negative for going to Traverse Dental Associates. Not one. Dr. Christopher Mazzola saw me on time, spent an hour just talking with me and getting to know my dental history, then examined me for another thirty minutes or more. During this time with him, he was extremely attentive and personable. Throughout my visit there, everyone treated me with the utmost respect and I felt like royalty the entire time. It was like no other dental experience I've ever had and I mean that in a positive way. This establishment is professional and it is obvious they care about their patients. I cracked a tooth and needed to see a dentist. I'm new to Traverse City and a couple friends recommended Traverse Dental Associates. The person I spoke with told me they don't take emergency appointments for non-patients. If I wanted to become a patient, I needed to talk to a coordinator of some type and if I was approved, I'd be "offered" an appointment......like a job interview. I've never written a negative review before, but I felt so slighted and insignificant, I felt I needed to voice my feelings. Needless to say, I said thank you, but no thank you. The next dental office I called said got me in within 24 hours and did not hesitate to help me. Maybe Traverse Dental Associates should do some studying on humility. read more

I recently walked out of the chair at this dentist's office after waiting 80 minutes to have two cavities filled. Apparently they were running behind. We're all busy people, and we set appointments for a reason. I had commitments following the appointment, so I walked out. I'll be changing my dentist to Dr. Tim Wentzloff of Rose Street Dental. He was formerly a dentist at Traverse Dental Associates who did excellent work, and always honored his appointments. read more

I have gone to Traverse Dental Associates for almost my entire life (over 25 years) and my most recent visit there will be my last. The Kelleys were amazing, as well as the hygienists, and I never understood why people didn't like going to the dentist, because for me it had always been a mostly positive experience. However, since I have been assigned Dr. Chris Mazzola, I now understand. The infrequent interactions that I have had with him have felt rushed, cold, and condescending. I even had him "fix" a cavity that once he touched the drill to it, it was gone and I got charged in full without having a filling or anything else done. Over the last three years each visit has left a worse impression on me and last week I had one concern which he flat out ignored when I voiced it, he made a side comment to the hygienist about me while I could hear him, and then he talked down to me for a full three minutes before rushing out. Traverse Dental Associates, I'm sorry for the negative review after a long relationship. I thought that you would want to know why you are losing a customer. Bedside manner is important, but so is thorough care, asking questions, and listening. read more

We have a big family....6 daughters + Mom and Dad = ......A LOT OF TEETH!!! We have been with Traverse Dental Associates for quite a few years now and we love them. My daughters from the oldest all the way down to the youngest really enjoy their experiences at the dentist! They have always been kind and patient with my girls so the little ones....8 and 7....actually look forward to going to the dentist! My oldest daughter....15.....has a lot of anxiety over dental work. She recently had to have a cavity filled, her first...and she was so worried! The hygienist was so understanding of her and helped her through the whole experience. Also with schedule for the dental needs of 6 busy kids all with school, sports, work schedules to juggle...the receptionist are awesome!! They have always been understanding of our busy and considerate of my time when they help me set up appointments. We never have to wait to long in the waiting room either which is a huge bounce! Usually it's in and out see you in 6 months! We really appreciate Travers Dental Associates!! read more

I have gone to Traverse Dental Associates for years. Always thought they were professional and friendly. Recently I cracked part of composite on a tooth. Couldn't eat. Called they up. They were booked, but called back in a few minutes and were able to see me same day. Wonderful service. Tooth looks better than ever. Sculpting a composite tooth is a skill and also an art. Dr. Lumbrezer and assistant, Morgan, make a perfect team. I recently had my first visit scheduled for a month away, but had an emergency. The receptionist was pleasant and very helpful in getting me in right away. My first experience in the chair was as pleasant as a trip to the dentist could be.
