I had the most negative experience with Wendy. Her crew was lovely. I wanted to sell everything from a 3 story 2000sq ft townhouse with a 4 car garage. I was shocked by the high prices she put on everything. I also gave her extremely valuable sports memorabilia. She failed to list it on the inventory, didn't get it back and don't know if it sold. What I did get get a few weeks later was what was taken to charity and that I owed them thousands of dollars for "fees" on top of what was sold. I didn't get a penny from very high end merchandise. I found Treasures to be a very dishonest business. I recommend you NEVER use them. My review is a negative 10, if the rating system allowed. UPDATE‼ I just learned today Treasure Estate Sales is still operating under a slightly different name. Informed by ethical Estate Sales companies, Wendy is still out there operating the same way as Treasures Estate and Concierge Services. Great nuance to get rid of those pesky bad reviews under the old name. YELP should really combine those previous reviews! When I learned this, I could not, in good conscience, let my fellow YELPERS be prey to this most dishonest business. I read the many complaints of rudeness and excessive high pricing here from a buyers perspective. Yes, this is all true. Yes, I observed this as well. But someone shopping at one of her sales is free to walk away. What about those of us who entrust her to sell our Estate? When I wrote my last review, she was using a different name. My Mom had recently passed then. I returned from her funeral to learn my lease was not going to renewed. I decided I wanted to downsize to a regular sized apt since my Mom would no longer be spending time with me from out of state. I was living in an extremely large 2400 sq ft, 4 car townhouse. I thought it a good time to sell all my furniture, crystal, china, designer clothes,silver, too much stuff! I love interior design and with a new living space, I thought less to move and creating a new space. Wendy's crew was great then! They came in and began arranging and tagging. I was not allowed to stay in my home for several days and I was never consulted in the pricing of my things. When I was allowed in at the end of the first day to see how things were arranged, I looked at a couple of tags and was quite concerned with extremely high prices marked. My worst fears were realized at the end of the sale - none of my beautiful furniture sold, not even my brand new king size bed! Yes, much of my clothing sold and part of Wendy's process is to donate what does not sell. Obviously I needed my furniture or some of it to go to the new place. But a lot of things were donated. Before the sale started, Wendy does use high pressure tactics to get you to include items you want to keep for sentimental reasons. She really pressured me into selling my very specially preserved boxed wedding dress. Her attitude was I was never going to wear it, so sell it. I was grieving deeply for the loss of my Mom. My own husband died tragically at a young age about 8 years before. I was a 36 yr old widow. My memories and my dress was important to me. My Mom purchased my wedding dress for me from a designer, the same designer who designed the wedding gowns for Julie Nixon and Tricia Nixon Cox, (granddaughters of President Eisenhower and daughter of President Nixon) by Priscilla of Boston! Not Nixon supporters, but these young woman were historic brides married in the White House. I saw my wedding dress did not sell and was relieved. But when I did not see it after the sale, Wendy donated it to a thrift shop, something I would NEVER have allowed. Something that, even today, brings me great pain. I could have used the hand sewn lace and pearls on satin so many ways! Also I gave Dodger memorabilia personally signed by the Dodger team members and manager to my husband for the sale. It was never inventoried, extremely valuable and never accounted for. I am sure she did not take that to the thrift shop! BOTTOM LINE - Wendy & hubby will invade your home, change the date of your Sale at the last minute, fail to advertise (she will do an email blast from past customers) locally, tag such outrageous prices, what you need to sell doesn't. It was a disaster and then she sends you an accounting about a month later, telling you the amount sold will not be coming to you in a check, rather she adds thousands of dollars in service fees, NEVER DISCLOSED PRIOR TO YOUR SALE. I should have taken the matter to Court, but I was grieving the loss of my Mom, moving, and it all just wore me down and my bad fortune and grief became her treasure‼ read more

I frequently go to estate sales, when the sellers see you carrying an item around they normally will ask to hold your item at the cashiers table. They will ask your name and label your items with a tag. I should have known there was going to be a problem when they were confused when I gave them my husbands name, which is a very common name, the two women were confused as to the label they should use. I overheard them and I told them to use my name, which is not so common, so as to not confuse them. The one woman snapped at me because I spoke to her through the open window. "What? I can't hear you!" I went up to the second woman and told her please put my items under my name, it is less common and not so confusing. As we looked around I picked up a few items and gave them to one of the workers to put with our other merchandise. We went upstairs and picked up two more items, the worker upstairs took my items down stairs and when she came up she had the tags of my other items with her. She apologized and said they made a mistake and gave my items to another customer with a name similar to mine. I was upset but didn't raise my voice, another worker told me very condescending "mistakes happen!" They said they called the person they gave the items to and left a message. When I took their business card and told the owner "Wendy" that I would call her later, to see if the items were returned, she told me "no! Don't call me! We'll call you if she calls us back." I have never seen a staff be so rude and unprofessional to their customers. The homeowners would have been embarrassed to see how the customers were being treated. I was not even offered a courtesy discount on the items that were left, the woman that totaled my items actually almost over charged me $50.00. I had to correct her mistake. In all the years I've gone to estate sales, I have never experienced a more chaotic and unprofessional operation. The person in charge of overseeing this one clearly lacked even the basic abilities to manage more than 2 or 3 workers/assistants at a time. It was evident by the lack of care or concern when labeling and separating customer purchases. When even the most basic of customer care objectives can't be provided, it speaks volumes of the inept abilities of the person overseeing the sale. My advice to anyone seeking an "estate sale" company to hire, I would advise to steer clear of this one. Unless it doesn't bother you to hire unprofessional, rude and obnoxious people in your home. read more

Shoppers-- If you don't want to be treated like a dumb school kid by a couple grouchy school principal women, DO NOT GO to their sales! They will kick you out, if you somehow unknowingly unintentionally irk this above-God-lady. Just because their clients live in multimillion dollar houses, they must think they are above all of us and they can treat shoppers like S***. From my experiences, a few men working there are nice. I had an outstanding experience with Wendy and her team. I needed to clear out my grandmother's home after she died. It was filled with 100 years of stuff. Some valuable, most not. I came to Treasures Estate Sales after I had a horrible experience with another company. Wendy was upfront with the work that she was going to do for me. There was no issues and the home was left in the most pristine condition. The book she provided me was truly better than she had promised me. Even my accountant was impressed. I would like to address some of the negative comments I read. When the other company handled the first estate sales which was opened to the public, I was surprised by the pushiness and rudeness of some of the shoppers. Selling an object that belonged to a relative at a discount price is not an easy task. It has sentimental value that cannot be so easily dismissed. It is not always the estate sales company that sets the price. In my case, there were some items that I would not allow the first estate sales company to sell under. The people who came in were themselves pushy and rude to them and me. So one responds in kind when attacked that way. I have attended now other events held by Wendy. She is very keen on allowing only a number of shoppers at a time which is very important as a seller and a buyer. read more

We used their service to donate furniture and other items for our 6600 square foot house to charity. They were AMAZING!! Wendy and Vance have an incredible crew. They were at our home for 3 days. The attentions to detail and every item was outstanding. They recorded, photographed, packed and loaded onto the trucks every item. For the occasional item we kept they wrapped and packed it and carried it to our car. As they were doing this a crew was cleaning evey nook and cranny of the house. They all worked so hard and they had fabulous attitudes. They were very aware of how stressful the process was and they were very considerate. The professionalism and comprehensive approach that Treasures brought to our family's recent estate resolution exceeded expectations in all regards. The large crew that arrived at the house succeeded in documenting and removing the entire contents of a 1,700-square-foot property in one long day. They left the house, including a garage that hadn't been cleaned out in more than 50 years, ready for our realtor and his team to photograph and prepare it to go on the market in a matter of days. Avoiding the time-consuming logistical challenges of accomplishing this on our own was worth every penny. The second phase of the project, consisting of the appraisal of family belongings, was equally impressive. Less than eight weeks after the clean-out, we received a series of beautifully presented binders containing photographs of all significant donated items, along with Wendy's expert valuation of them, and photographs of comparable items to support each appraisal. We had been advised that a charitable donation was likely to prove more financially rewarding (not to mention socially beneficial) than the cash received in an estate sale. That certainly seems to be the case. Wendy's expertise as an appraiser of art and antiques undoubtedly resulted in numerous items we would have virtually given away to estate-sale shoppers being fairly valued at hundreds of dollars each or more for tax purposes. Collectively, donating the house's contents generated a significant deduction that easily justified our investment in Wendy's services as a certified appraiser. Also considering the days and miles we saved by using the Treasures process to clear the house, the experience was excellent from start to finish. Treasures Estate Concierge Service is AMAZING. I would recommend it to anyone who needs to empty out a relative's home. When my parents died within 10 months of each other, it was my job to empty their home of nearly 50 years. Wendy and her crew came to my rescue and emptied and completely cleaned the 2800 square foot home in ONE DAY! It was truly astounding how much her crew of 13 accomplished that day. We donated all the usable possessions; all the hazardous waste and other trash was properly disposed of by the Treasures crew. A few weeks later, my brother and I got the most amazing inventory and appraisal of our parents' possessions that we can now use to write off the donation on our taxes. This is the book that a previous reviewer referred to: it contains a very detailed listing of and fair market value for all the donated items, a photographic record of the larger and more valuable pieces, a "comparables" report AND all the necessary forms filled out and ready for the IRS. Her service is not cheap but it is TOTALLY worth it. I only wish my mother had known about it; she worried so much about how much work it would be for me to do this job. Well, Mom, you'd be thrilled to know that Treasures made this job so painless for me. Wendy was amazing! She is I very knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend anyone seeking to sell inherited items to contact Treasures Estate Sales. I have a set of sterling silver I inherited from my grandmother. The appraised value (for replacement or insurance purposes only) was quite high. I filled out the form on the website and received a prompt call from Wendy. She asked my to send pictures and an inventory of the items, which I did. She called me back the next day (a Saturday), and we had a long discussion about sterling silver, it's sentimental value, possible value at a sale, on-line, ebay, and it's actual silver content value (if it were melted). Wendy was honest with me, and explained to me that the particular set I had was not something that would sell for much money (it is very plain), and that, indeed, if someone offered to purchase it from me, it would probably be for it's melted value, which they would offer me less for so they could make a few bucks. Wendy was very kind and wanted to make sure I understood how the market worked. She was concerned that I might be taken advantage of, and gave me good information. I've been to several of these, and bought various items. The woman in charge is a bit self-important which is kind of annoying. What really bugged me was that I paid more than $200 for a piece of furniture that later saw at TJ Maxx for $69. My own fault I guess-- buyer beware. She does seem to work hard setting everything out and displaying it in an attractive way to get maximum dollars. That said, the pricing seems ridiculously high on most items. Maybe only go at the last minute of the sale and she'd haggle. read more

So disappointed! After reading some positive reviews (and some negative) I scheduled an appt w Wendy to potentially hire her to handle the estate sale of my home contents. I rearranged my entire morning to meet with her. She called me 10 minutes before she was due to arrive saying she was going to have to cancel. She was at least 30 minutes away and would have been quite late but didn't bother to give me a courtesy to call to mention that. I have to agree with the majority of unhappy shoppers. May be one would be happy if used this company to sell things, but if you want to buy from them!? Heck NO! They are rude, unreasonably overpriced and conceited! They behave like the buyer owes them and they make you a favor of even talking to you. My latest experience with Treasures Estate Sales was very professional. In mid March I came in and the staff greeted me immediately and asked me if I needed help. I was looking for a couple of items in particular and they helped me look around for them and right away found me one of the two items and carried it to my car. I was impressed with how quickly they assisted me as I was in a bit of a hurry! About two weeks later I received a call from the owner, Wendy. She had found me the second item I was searching for which relieved me because I was having such a hard time trying to locate this piece of furniture. I picked up the piece and was thrilled, not only was it in perfect condition it was at a great price! As a business owner myself, professionalism and customer care are a first priority. Tresures Estate Sales are top-notch in this business. I always go to their sales because I know I will find high quality items. You won't get dirt cheap deals here because they know the value of their goods and want to get the best prices for their clients. I recently bought a sofa at one of their sales (which looks as though it has never been sat upon) and when my mover showed up the homeowner refused to let them move it for fear of damaging the wall. So the owners of Treasures Estate Sales contracted the clients own movers and had the sofa delivered to me free of charge. I felt that they went out of their way to insure that both the homeowner and I would be happy. It worked! read more

My mother died and I was faced with the task of selling the house and disposing of her possessions. I contacted Wendy of Treasure Estate Sales. She was a pleasure to work with. She suggested that rather than have an estate sale I pay her to remove all of the belongings, appraise them, and donate them to a charity. She believed that the deduction I could get on my taxes would be more than I could get by having an estate sale. She said that an estate sale would not be productive due to the limited street parking available. I took her advice, not sure if the tax deduction of the fair market value value would in fact cover her fees. Wendy's team cleaned out the entire house and the garden. They even removed some difficult built in furniture which the buyer wanted out. They left the house broom clean and ready for the new buyer. I was quite impressed with the amount of work they did. Then they photographed all of the goods that were worth appraising, established their fair market value through analysis of comparable sales, and provided me with an extensive notebook documenting the entire appraisal. It turns out that the tax deduction more than covered their cost, and then some. Since I live out of state, they did all of the work without supervision. I have not shopped at any of Treasure's estate sales. My sister & I had a 93 year old aunt who passed away in March of this year. She had lived on Highland Avenue in Handcock Park (Los Angeles) for approximately 47 years & had a house full of very nice things. Someone recommended Treasures to us & we hired them to handle her estate sale. When we had our first meeting with one of the owners she apparently said, according to my sister at some point during the meeting, that the client is expected to pay 50% of the cost of all the labor for the prep period along with all the days of the sale itself, on top of the 30% commission. For some reason I was not paying enough attention because I don't remember hearing that said. If I had, I can only hope that that would have been all I needed to hear & I would have said that we would not be able to use her company for our sale if we were going too have to pay that on top of the commission. My sister & I also made the mistake of not reading our contracts thoroughly enough & discovered, after the fact, that we would not receive payment, or any type of paperwork regarding the sale, until August 5th. Since our sale ended in the latter part of May that was approximately ten weeks after the sale ended. When I asked about the reason for that, the excuse given me was that they only had one bookkeeper & they were so backed up that they could not do it any faster than that. Since this is 2013, & I had personally seen a computer behind the pay table on all sale days, I knew that I was being given a big line of crap. I'm quite sure that they put every sale that was made into that computer & were very well aware of the total gross taken at the end of each day. I'm also quite sure that they could have very easily settled with us a day or so following the final sale day. What their exact reasons were for doing it that way I'm not really sure but why don't you use your imaginations. The reason for this "whoa is me" story is not so that you feel bad for us, because we made the mistakes & got what we deserved. The reason is to let people know that if anyone needs to have an estate sale you should listen very carefully to everything that is said & read your contract completely, no matter which company you choose. Which ever one it is, if they want you to pay for anything on top of the commission, or wait a ridiculous amount of time for your payment, etc. just say no & don't sign anything!! If enough people refuse to sign the contracts, & the company wishes to continue doing business, then magically before long, the contracts will become a lot more customer friendly. I have only been going to these estate sales for about a year, and for the most part, always been fun. You get drama from the hosts and attendees alike. But last week, I attended a sale held by Treasures Estates. The items were sort of high, but I did find a neat book (The Secret) and some other doo-hickey. I stood in line forever to pay. You would think that as long (maybe I am assuming a lot) as these people have been doing this, they would do it better. The line was fluid. As I got closer I did what everyone in front of me was able to do. I peeked at the jewelry case while they processed the folks in front of me. While doing this she was also helping someone with a previous purchase (no harm no foul) who squeezed in next to me while I looked at the jewelry. When she completed that (10 minutes later) I placed my items on the table and announced to her that I was next. She promptly told me that I was out of line and the people behind me were next. I placed my items on the couch behind me and left. There are so many estate sales everywhere that I can afford to go to others. I am glad to be able to wittle down my list for the weekend too! read more
