Not having any experience before in booking holidays for myself I decided to go to Thomas cook and let them do the thinking. I decided upon a week in Kos round about June. From there we spoke to the travel agent about our budget and desired location. She was very friendly and honest with us, letting us know where was quiet and her experience of being there. I did however get mugged into an extra week and a budget increase of £100-£200...I think she saw us coming. The overall package was incredibly expensive for self catering. However the service we received both before and during our holiday was top notch. The reps were great and always honest with you. We were also gifted with a few free excursions for free as we spent a lot of money etc. The place was exactly as described and most importantly it was hot, about 40 degrees everyday thanks very much! Personally I would recommend going through the internet these days if your looking to save some money. But if you need some help with your holiday and want the peace of mind of booking with human beings then I can fully recommend Thomas Cook

We walked right up to lovely woman at the front desk who was friendly and helpful without being annoying or patronising, which is always a good start. I'm jealous of all these well-seasoned travellers and their extensive knowledge of the world. Bitter, moi? Well, I guess if you're going to help people book the trip of a lifetime, you'd better have the geographical and cultural knowledge to back it up. And she did. I'm not sure if they work on commission or not, but it was a relief to just have a chat and throw around a few ideas without the pressure of having to commit to a booking. When (not "if") I plan my fabulous around-the-world trip, I'm definitely coming here first, and, as they specialise in adventure holidays, you can have the added bonus of a range of exhilarating activities to go along with your lazy beach-lounging days.

It's the source for everything there is to know about visiting Caerphilly and the attractions in the area. They can also help with finding accommodations and non-biased advice on places to visit in the area. Gift shop has a selection of Welsh and Caerphilly items, ranging from t-shirts and pens to postcards and local honey and other crafts from the area. And a coffee machine! Great latte, thanks! Once you get past the Welsh accent, it's perfect!

If you get off the train at Caerphilly, visit the castle and wonder what else there is to do around…read morethat area then pop over the road to the visitors centre. It's an attractive circular looking building with bundles of leaflets that will keep you occupied till you collect your pension. There is also a gift shop within this tourist information centre should you wish to buy anything Welsh and why not? They stock amongst other things Penderyn Whisky which is building up quite a reputation amongst those in the know around the globe. Apparently a top chef in a well known restaurant in New York refuses to stock any other Whisky and imports Penderyn by the case load - surely that's worth a visit alone (to the visitor centre not New York although that's also a good excuse to go to the big apple too).

On arrival we were able to have an early check in which we…read morewere very grateful for after our 4 hour journey, however, the toilet was blocked and we had to wait an hour and a half for maintenance to arrive. The gas fire wouldn't light and the electric heater was faulty the gas boiler didn't look too safe either. The caravan smelt really bad of stale gin and there was mould on the bedding and around the windows. There was even a blood stain on one of the quilts. The 'restaurant' food was not of good quality, we had to go to reception to ask to be served at the bar even though the bar said it was open. We didn't expect much having read many previous reviews but we did expect somewhere warm, dry and clean. We didn't get it. When we reported faults to the staff, we were not taken very seriously as we were only here a few days anyway. I was glad to get home and we will not be visiting Woolacombe again.

Visited today to buy some postcards. It wasn't officially open but the building was open as one of…read morethe council offices was in the same 'room'. The lady who works behind that counter told me she was able to sell me postcards provided I had the correct money, which was fair enough. However, she wasn't particularly friendly and was obviously irritated at being disturbed. I have been there before when the tourist section was open and have had better service from the official member of staff. A good range of free leaflets available on what to see and do in the area.

If you're looking for a themed break such as a Christmas Market holiday, a visit to Lapland, a Battlefield Break in Europe, or an African Safari, they have partner companies that they use to deliver these types of specialist holidays. They also offer thousands of more general holidays with other partners such as First Choice, Thomson and Monarch Holidays. Obviously if you book through them it's good to know they're ABTA bonded, which is critical in giving you financial protection if they were to go bust (which has happened to many travel companies in the current unstable climate of the travel industry).

This is a lovely place, great to take a walk on a summers day. Its amazing over the years how much…read morethis area has changed. There are a small few car parks around which are mostly pay and display so have some change on you. The area boasts plenty of long walks and bike tracks and has plenty of quiet areas to sit and have a picnic surrounded by splendid view. We like to take our grandchildren as they can feed the ducks in the lake, after a walk they can play on the beach and then get an ice cream on the way home. It has turned into a vibrant area now which has a fab atmosphere on a nice summers day.

I remember it being built but only visited it for the first time today. The information centre is a great place for leaflets about local attractions and the staff behind the counter are helpful and knowedgeable. There is a small shop too with some clothes, books and gifts. There is a side room with a large relief model under glass of the whole area. Upstairs is Flanagan's Cafe which is a bright and pleasant place to sit and have a snack and drink. (There is a lift as well as stairs so accessible to all) The coffees were excellent. My only criticism would be that the staff could be friendlier and more welcoming - and more attentive too - we clearly asked for cheese and pickle sandwiches but cheese and onion were brought to the table! Outside (but attached to the same building) is an ice cream kiosk.

"I want to go on holiday..."…read more Well, obviously. That's why I'm in a travel shop, and that would be why the Lady Behind the Desk is looking at me like I'm a little bit...special. I'd been sent by my mum to find somewhere to go for some 'winter sun' since we couldn't agree on where to go, and this is what I explained to the Lady Behind the Desk as I sat down smiling at her expectantly, waiting for her to come up with the perfect vacation. I'm not very well travelled: I've been to France a couple of times, Gran Canaria as a child, but that's about it. I don't know the difference between Tenerife and Lanzarote, or what the weather is like anywhere besides sunny old Wales. I had no idea where we were meant to go for a week of sunshine in late November. The Lady Behind the Desk was very patient with me as I talked her through what my mum wanted, the age of my younger brother, the budget we were working with and she was extremely helpful. She knew exactly what she was talking about - she didn't just read from the book as I've known some to do, and she was honest and almost blunt about what I could expect from the various destinations. She never once seemed like she was just trying to sell me something: I only wanted advice and advice was what I got. I liked that. I left with arms full of brochures and confident that I could make an informed report back to my mother. I know that when I'm thinking about my next holiday, I can always pop for a chat with the Lady Behind the Desk if I need any help making my decision.
