I am VERY impressed with this company. I've used them twice in last 6 mos, 1st at my own home for a "small" thinning job and 2nd at a client's house for a much bigger job. The first plus is Crystal who handles all emails, scheduling, etc. She is extremely efficient & detail-oriented. Communicated as promised each time, accommodating & committed to client needs. But an equally big plus are the crew members. I believe they are employees not day labor. Sam did the estimating and he was foreman on the crew for the larger job. In both cases they arrived with a full crew & multiple trucks. I believe this adds not only to their speed of completion, but also their safety & efficiency. The owner gave me a 10 min notice to let me know he was on the way to my property to look at a dead tree. I was at out of town and didn't have the chance to communicate with my husband who was working from home and on a conference call. So when the owner showed up, my husband asked him to leave. However, when I finally talked to my husband, my husband called the company and apologized and explained his mistake. They rescheduled us, then didn't show. I called and talked to them again. They rescheduled us another time. They called and texted the day before, and I spoke with them. They didn't show when scheduled AGAIN. I called around and had several companies give quotes for a large tree removal and general pruning/cleanup of other trees on the property. Anthony was quick with coming to give an estimate and his removal price was significantly lower than some other companies in the area ($300-900 cheaper!!) The pruning/trimming rates were all about even with maybe $50-100 differences above/below depending on the tree. Scheduling was quick being early in the season. They arrived about 9am, and were cleaned up and gone by 11ish. The tree they removed was a 60-80(estimate) foot tall pine tree that was just a few feet from my house, had power lines running through, and a fence a few feet away on the other side. So fairly tight quarters to work in. I would recommend them for any tree job needed! read more

One of the best experiences I've ever had with a contractor. I had a dead ash tree in my front yard. It had some kind of beetle/ash borer issue, not Emerald Ash Borer, some kind of domestic thing. I spoke to Anthony's desk assistant, and she told me that Anthony did estimates on Sundays and Mondays and she'd put me on the schedule. Well, 9:30 sharp the next Sunday, Anthony is in my driveway looking at my tree. My husband went out and had a brief chat with him, and Anthony quoted a great price for tree take-down + removal + stump grinding. This was a price I'd heard from other vendors, but those guys weren't including tree removal and/or stump grinding in that price. Anthony said he was booked for the next two weeks but could sometimes fit small jobs like ours into cracks in his schedule, so he'd give us a call if an opening came up. He called us 10 days later, on a Wednesday at 8:15 a.m., asking if his crew could stop by and take down our tree. We said sure. The tree was down, and completely removed/cleaned up, in 30 minutes. (!) There were only 3 guys, but they had all the right equipment, including a little Vermeer tractor/debris pusher + a huge tree-removal truck with a precision grab-claw to lift tree parts into the truck bed. My neighbor was amazed at how fast and thorough this crew was. My lawn was pristine afterward; other than a few very small twigs, you couldn't even tell they'd taken a tree down in my yard. Anthony offered to bill us, but he also has Square for credit cards, so we just paid right there in the driveway. Anthony told us that his stump-grinding crew comes along "behind" his crew and we could expect them to arrive within the hour. Sure enough, 15 minutes later, a dude shows up with a stump grinder. All that's left of my tree is a tidy pile of dirt and wood shavings where the stump used to be. I couldn't be happier! read more

My parents had two big ash trees that were right on property line, they had to go on the neighbor's property to remove the trees. They had to deal with a neighbor that switched from friendly to passive aggressive and they did everything they could to make him happy including us. These guys are absolutely amazing. I have a couple of oaks that I got 5 different estimates and TAMB was the only one that mentioned "Oak Wilt" which we verified through a google search. In addition the estimate from TAMB was 70% lower than the highest of the bids that i received. And finally they did an amazing job on trimming my oaks to include the cleanup. I have to say that this was the best value for the service provided that I have received in years. I just had the pleasure of doing business with a great, small company - Trees Are My Business. We needed to remove four large blue spruce from the back yard, and they had a crew of five men, several pieces of equipment, plywood sheets to cover the lawn where they drove their machines, a huge truck with a built-in articulated lift mechanism to haul away the logs and branches, and a stump grinder to clears away the stump and roots. He gave me a quote on the spot, and it was extremely cheap. I told them to go ahead and within two weeks they were out to remove our two trees and did a terrific job. Had a cherry tree limb that fell last week in thunderstorm cleaned up and trimmed, 2 apple trees trimmed, 1 peach tree trimmed, some old rose bushes pulled out, a stump ground up and lillac bushes trimmed. Did a great job. The limb was hanging in the neighbors yard and was important to get it removed soon. They managed to come in earlier than expected and got it all cleaned up. They charged a good price and it pays to use Yelp because this is where you find the real reviews and the best service (seems like real reviews when you put bad ones out on Angies List mysteriously disappear???). Called exactly two weeks ago to schedule two small trees to be removed by a certain date because we were getting two new trees replanted by Oakland. Asked if they could get it done in this time frame (because we do have choices and plenty of options FYI) They assured me they could do it. They scheduled me the day before my new trees were to arrive...Then called and cancelled at 8 am because it was supposed to rain. By the way it sprinkled about ONE HOUR the entire day and my whole neighborhood was full of people out doing yard work. The man on the phone ARGUED (?) that I only called 6 days ago and they were "accommodating me" and 8 weeks behind. Like he was doing me some big favor to DO HIS JOB. So RUDE on the phone - told me he didn't appreciate me laughing after I corrected him that I did not call 6 days ago. I laughed because I was looking at the text record right in front of me. Time stamp on my text was 14 days ago. FYI - my son and his friend dug these small trees out root ball and all, cleaned up the walk and raked the soil - totally done in 30 minutes. Quoted a price of $100.00 over the phone after someone had come to visualize and estimate the job. Was told it would be a week before they could schedule to come out, to my surprise, they were out within 5 days. Unfortunately when they arrived, the price jumped $50 with no explanation. The job I needed done was to prune a spruce away from my garage roof and to remove a small maple sapling. Both items were completed in 30 minutes, but when I went to inspect later, I noticed a vine that was growing up the spruce and had reached over to the roof of the garage. They trimmed and pruned everything away except this one vine that would have taken 3 seconds to clip. I had to go to Lowes and purchase pruning sheers myself long enough to cut the vine. I was a little disappointed at the price increase and not taking the extra few seconds to clip the vine. You get what you pay for I guess. read more

I had a tree fall on my house and car this morning; called Anthony at 7:30am, his crew was here by 8:30 and they were done and beautifully cleaned up by 9:30. Great job, pleasant crew that had all the proper equipment for their own safety as well as my property's. I didn't get other estimates because I had used his services before and I knew he would do a good job, so I can't say if they are more or less expensive than other companies. This company does sloppy work, damaged my property when working on a neighboring property; refused to return calls or respond to emails for reimbursement; they also blocked access to city-owned property while working on private property causing damages. Anthony is rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. Someone wrecked their car into a tree in my front yard Monday night, almost uprooted completely. I sent quote requests thru yelp from 6 companies and 3 responded. Trees are my business was the fastest , followed up with me yesterday and came out today to remove the tree they also cleaned up very nicely and even put back the paver stones that were displaced during the crash. I would not use this service or refer them as they do not respect property of adjacent homeowners. I had referred them to a neighbor. They arrived to cut branches off a tree in her backyard. They ran their machine up and down the edge of my yard and across the front despite the fact that their was about 20 feet on the other side of my neighbors yard that gave them access to her backyard. I confronted them and the person in charge told me I was rude. I told him I had sprinkler heads along the property edge and I did not want them broken. The boundary was clearly marked with driveway markers, one of which he broke off. I told him I would call the police for trespassing. He said go ahead, he would be gone by then. A reputable business does not run it's equipment on property it is not working on. He did not ask permission to be on my property and I would not have granted it given the ample space available on the other side of the property he was working on. I called the office and left a message. I have not received a return call. Actually, the owner may have been the one I spoke to the day of the incident. This company should not be hired. read more

Initially very satisfied with job completed by Anthony, but unfortunately they did not complete their job. They did a poor job grinding down stumps and roots, two of which were in the middle of my front and backyard. In addition, there were more stumps left up against the house. I called trees r my business back and they returned, grinding the stumps down further, but once again not completing the job fully, I was unable to discern this until, I had a landscaper in the middle of a job that was halted by additional roots located at these same three locations, my landscaping job could go no further until the roots were removed. I called trees r my business yet again and was told they would come back again, I was hopeful the third time, the stumps and roots would finally be taken care of, until, I received a call from Anthony at 8 :30 at night, who left a very rude VM noting that this was the third time they were coming out, this was not a free service and I would be charged, , then hung up, no mention of amount. I called Anthony back, who again was extremely rude. He stated he can not continue to come out to my home for free, I noted the job was not completed and the landscaping job was now halted. Anthony told me he had no idea I was regrading my yard, I told him, he never asked anything, I did not know I needed to specify my future yard plans. He then stated that it was not his job to educate me on trees and roots. I let him know I had never had tress cut down before so I did not know. I suggested he educate his customers so then he wouldn't be receiving multiple requests to return, he again stated that was not his job and I didn't have the yard prepared for him. Not sure what I was to do prior as again, just wanted trees cut Down, stumps and roots grinded down. I asked him what the charge was going to be, he said fifty dollars, I was baffled that an owner of a business would give a customer that much grief over fifty bucks, he noted customers call over and over and expect it for free, I again told him I had no idea what he needed know in advance as he never asked, he then stated he did not want to do business with me and hung up! Over fifty bucks! Anthony must be hard up for fifty bucks, unbelievable and very rude. I honestly used trees r my business as they were the cheapest, but you get much you pay for, Anthony, stay off the phones, let Maureen take the calls, she is much more pleasant, no people skills Anthony! Keep cutting those trees down and not educating people, you will get no where fast! Ignorant you are Anthony! read more
