So many things about Tricare, clinics, etc are made way harder than they need to be but this nurse is always so kind, encouraging, goes way above and beyond for my children and even me as their mama. She is pure gold and an amazing reminder that there are still such wonderful humans in this world. She has REPEATEDLY gone above and beyond and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her! I had to make sure and pick up my prescription before the holidays. I visit this location because it's closer to my home and usually the wait is reasonable. Well that was until this time. I got really excited when I walked in and there weren't many patrons waiting. The ticket said it would be like a five minute wait. I always say that communication is key. After 30 minutes of waiting for my number to be called and watching people (not just one or two) that had just come in, being called before me, I had to go ask. Like every other establishment, they said everyone had called out, they were short staffed and the only technician that could dispense medications had went to lunch after having been alone all morning. A sign would have been helpful. I could've decided whether or not to wait. By now I had been there going on an hour so I decided to wait. Finally they call my number (an hour and a half after I got there), and when I get to the window, they advised me that it could be another half hour before my prescription was ready! They had been dispensing refills that had been called in previously all this time. I assured them that after waiting for almost two hours I was not leaving without my medication (I had none left). They finally decided to put up a sign stating they were no longer talking anymore prescriptions and that they were closed for the day because they were not staffed. Needless to say that caused a whole lot of chaos for those coming in with the hopes of getting their meds before the holidays. Overall not a very pleasant experience and what made it worse was that the techs weren't very friendly. I totally understand that they were probably stressed out but trust me when I say that if they would've been friendly, I would have given them a lot more stars. read more

This place is so bad I just have to write this review. First of, I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt because I thought, "hey, one bad experience shouldn't equal all." I was wrong. Here's why... 1. Every time! I swear, every single time I come here for my daughter's appointment, I am asked what I am there for. I have noted the reason in the online appointment system and also verified over the phone, and yet they always ask why I'm there. It's not even a rhetorical question like "so, you're here for your daughter's immunizations?" They really don't know. It's also extremely dangerous when it comes to immunization...to ask what shots my daughter need. Regardless, whether I know what shots are due, you should never rely on what the parents say...they could be wrong! I also sense that they do not review my daughter's file prior to the appointment. Am I wrong to assume this should be done? Review everything, the charts, past visits? 2. Filling out the same long forms upon arriving is annoying! Not only are they the same questions, I have answered from the previous visit, the forms are long and some questions are not even legible. I honestly feel like they don't even thoroughly look at the form. 3. Extremely long wait times. I don't understand why have a scheduled appointment if you can't be seen at the reserve time. This happened at all visits. I am already in the works of finding a new PCM. I just really want to express my thoughts on here to save some of you the hassle, especially to parents with young kids. We avoid this place at all costs but when the kids get sick at the end of the week and we need to get medicine, well this is a step up from the ER only cause it's closer. If you think your Pharmacy is horrible wait until you try this place out. These are the people who can't get hired on anywhere else so who welcomes them with open arms? Well military of course cause they'll take just about anyone. We wait hours for antibiotics and Motrin. I have been in this office for 19 yrs and I have had good doctors and bad racist ones but I am going to tell you I went for a neurologist on the outside and the appointment was 6 months out so I have a choice to go outside Tricare but nawwwww . The outside doctors as just as bad and guess what they are going to treat you just the same is just come down to who you see. I had a doctor that shush me out of the office and I report her and I did the survey we all get so please if you get a bad doctor w a terrible bedside manner report it. Negative 10 stars, not a 1 star. Absolutely the WORST. I arrived 10 minutes before my 2 kids' appointments prepared. Both kids had their vitals taken, eye exams completed and were sitting in the patient room IN PATIENT ROBES when a nurse walked in to tell me our appointments were CANCELLED. Y'all, I woke up at 5:30am to bathe, feed and get my kids out the door to make this appointment after driving 30 minutes to get there and they had ZERO ISSUE with screwing me over. I begged for another doctor to pop in to sign their school paperwork and no one would even attempt to ask another provider. I was told "it's not that easy." You know what isn't easy? Juggling 2 small kids, a full time job, new school paperwork because we just moved here with the navy, a PANDEMIC and then dragging my kids across town for an extra early appointment only to be told halfway through it, that I needed to do it all over again because y'all don't give a sh#t about your patients. The other reviews don't lie about wait times but I don't know what's worse, waiting 2 hours for your prescription or waiting 1.5 hours and not getting a prescription at all because your doctor "forgot to sign off on it". I am very disappointed with the service that is provided at this clinic. They must have a patient quota because every time I go in for an issue tests are not done and only a few questions are asked and I'm sent on my way. I always end up getting worse and have to go back one or more times until I'm diagnosed and then given a treatment that will help me get better. I have filed a grievance because I'm sick of the less than mediocre care I'm given when I'm seen at this clinic. And the parking lot should have been expanded or an overflow lot should have been built nearby. read more

Appointment here are hard to get. You definitely have to book a few weeks out for routine visits. When I get sick I don't even bother. I am thankful my work doesn't require a doctor's note for this reason. I have had a great experience with the staff. I love Dr. Hinton. She is always great and never seems overly rushed. My main complaint I don't think is the fault of the clinic, just tricare. If you don't get one of the first appointments of the day expect to wait. An hour or so in the waiting room, followed by another waiting period in the patient room. After that it is possible to get another 30 minutes or so before the doctor comes in. I think they are just over booked, because of tricare's demands. read more

I needed a weekend appointment and my local doctors is closed. I choose this location as I was going to be in the Virginia Beach area anyways. I am happy to now know my options! All staff was friendly and courteous. We got there early and were seen early. I don't know if it was the best part or just a bonus but there was a pharmacy downstairs (open 24/7). We were able to pick up our prescriptions after the appointment and be on our way. Total time there was around 30 minutes. Our nurse was nice, joked with my daughter which made her feel better. Our doctor was quick to put our minds at ease. I was skeptical of her prompt diagnosis but having been a week past all is well and comfortable for my child! read more

most of the negative reviews seem predicated on unrealistic expectations. the dependants going here are basically complaining about services they don't pay a dime for. now, we too have had the odd case challenge with the front desk but they're not the care provider. if they're rude, fill out the feedback form. Our provider has been a good GP for the family. Waits increase as the day goes on due in part from patients dragging on and in part from docs spending more than the allotted appointment time...would you rather be kept strict to the appointment scheduled duration or have them tens to your needs more thouroughy? WORST DOCTORS EVER! First of all, the people at the front desk are hands down the most rude people I have ever spoke to. Then after waiting a good 30 minutes past your original appointment time, you'll be asked to sit in the actual room for another 20 minutes. Appointment was easy enough for me to get, was only 2 days away. Now the issue comes the day of the appointment, show up 20 minutes early only to be told she's an hour behind. How are you an hour behind and only been open 2 hours? Not impressed, especially for a first appointment. Will hope this doesn't happen again and if it does I'll be asking to switch, not everyone can sit in the waiting room for over an hour, wait in the room for 20 mins and then see a doctor for 2 minutes. Some of us waiting have jobs and can't bend our lives around someone that can't stay on schedule or show up on time. read more

My daughter and I both go to this clinic. Sometimes it's difficult to get an appointment and sometimes there is a bit of a wait but it has never been that long that it's been an issue. There is one doctor that I prefer not to see. She's just not a warm and friendly person and my daughter definitely picks up on that and never gets comfortable around her. We absolutely love Dr. Winkes but she only works on weekends. I wish I could make all of our appointments with her. The clinic is always clean and every nurse I have seen has been very nice. The wait can be long in the pharmacy but again it's never been too much of an issue for us. read more

I recently had to contact the clinic about getting a refill on a prescription that would run out before my next Dr. appointment. The nurse who helped me was wonderful - she took the time to find a doctor who would give me a short refill and called me back quickly. I wish I had caught her name but appreciate how pleasant and helpful she was. Joanne, in the pharmacy, was also great and extremely efficient. Never knew about this place until recently, and we've lived here for 8 years. The majority of the staff is nice. There's one nurse that is just down right rude, and of course she's typically the intake nurse. She literally always looks like she hates her job. They aren't very fast, but what military medical facility is? Also, the pharmacy is small and the wait time is always awful. Even while you're sick with a fever, vomiting, and strep throat, they'll make you wait there for over 90 minutes. But it's still better than Boone Clinic. read more

I wish I could give the clinic a 4 and the pharmacy a 1 or 2, but I'll settle for somewhere in the middle. Each time I've gone to this clinic, the ladies at the front desk were very friendly, the wait wasn't too bad, and the nurses were great. I haven't always been impressed with the doctors, but the one I had yesterday was fantastic. My experiences with the pharmacy have not been so positive. Picking up a refill isn't that bad. I was in and out pretty quickly. However, picking up a new prescription is almost unbearable. There will be 10 people behind the counter and only 1 or 2 actually doing anything. The others are standing around and talking and laughing like there aren't 100 irritated people in the waiting room, most with one simple prescription to pick up. If I ever had that many people waiting on me to do the job that I was being paid to do, I would get my ass in gear and take care of those people in a timely manner. I guess not everyone has that kind of work ethic... but they should. read more

I wish they had spent more money on training staff members on customer service and less on renovations. I was recently switched from one primary care physician to another due to a decrease in hours worked for my previous PCM. I completely understand this and it's not really an issue. However my new PCM enters the room every time and asks "Why are you here". And it's not in a "how can I help" kind of tone, but a why are you here now tone. It's like he's annoyed. I really don't enjoy taking off of work to sit in a crowded lobby with coughing and sneezing patients, but when I feel it's necessary, I go in. He even questioned my annual visit, which my previous PCM expected. Really if you are going to switch patients to a new provider, the new provider should actually take the time to sit with you and explain how they plan to treat you and their expectations. How they treat annual visits, refills, vaccinations etc. Otherwise patients are just left to guess. read more

The level of care I have been getting here is not good. The PA I had today (2nd visit for same issue) was rude, disrespectful and arrogant. Also, her treatment plan is not working and she won't change it...If you don't have to come here, don't. The pharmacy is slow but the lady I had there was at least nice enough. I did see other pharmacy staff be very rude to others and people waiting for a long time. I really don't understand what happened to being curtious and nice to others. People are talking down to you and treating you as if you are a burden. Sad... Will try to not come here but rather use urgent care as they are better. read more

They have expanded and renovated since my last review and it is still a terrible practice. I have been seen by a handful of providers here in attempt to shop around and land someone worth my time. They all have had no bedside manner, gave me no time of the day even after waiting longer than necessary to be seen. Most recently I called the clinic multiple times for lab results and was told by the nurses they were not allowed to disclose them and that I had to wait for the provider to notify me. Took over two weeks to hear that my provider disregarded my labs (that by the way, required treatment) and closed out notifications about each one of my inquiries to find out my labs. It angers me that every time my wife makes an appointment, she is making an appointment with the clinic not the doctor. What does that mean? It means that she gets whatever doctor that happens to be there that day. This causes her to spend the first 10 minutes of her allotted 20 minutes explaining her history. How about you start making it that the docs are permanent fixtures of the staff and make appointments for the patient to see the doctor. Easily the worst year of my life dealing with this clinic. The ladies at the front desk are rude and seem to hate their job. The pcm I was assigned is dismissive, condescending, and speaks to me like I'm a child. She told me she knows better than the patient because SHE is the doctor.. even though she had no idea what my condition actually was until I explained it to her. Then she just rolled her eyes at me. And when I asked for a referral to see a specialist to talk to about my condition, as I've just recently been diagnosed, I was flat out told "No!". As I basically begged her, she just sat there shaking her head at me. I had a growth on my foot which she wouldn't even look at when I asked her about it. She told me it was a bug bite and if it was still there in 2 weeks she'd look at it then. It took me 8-9 months to get her to agree to write a referral for a dermatologist to have it looked at because during that time period it was visibly getting worse. They walk in the room with an agenda and they refuse to divert from it. Oh, and they will only discuss one topic with you at each appointment so if you have multiple things to discuss you better schedule more than one appointment. It's a joke. You are treated like a number, not a person, and pushed out as quickly as they can get you out of the room. It takes about a month to get an appointment and you wait in the pharmacy for at least an hour every time. I switched to Tricare Select purely because of my experience at this clinic. read more

I've said it before and I'm saying it again...THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST CLINICS EVER. Took my 10 yr old son in today because he was running a fever. His nurse had him lay on exam table near nurses station so she could monitor his temp. after giving him Tylenol. This table happened to be in front of a computer station where a nurse named Elana was working. When my son's nurse came back to check his temperature she asked me if my son had gotten a flu shot. I said NO. When his nurse left to go give info to his doctor another nurse by the name of Shelly came back to talk to Elana. They began talking about patients not getting their flu shots and getting sick as HELL (Yes...she said sick as HELL) then coming to the clinic to get treated. I said to both of them I hope they weren't talking about my son. They both got very defensive and said they weren't but its very curious that particular conversation came up right after my son's nurse asked about his flu shot. Whether they were talking about my son or not I think it's inappropriate to talk about any patients in front of other patients. I filled out a complaint form and hope they're given a lesson in etiquette. read more
