(Oh, and a very nice deep chocolate cake with whipped cream for dessert.) We chatted with the pastor (Pastor Gary Rohrer), the pastor's wife, and several parishioners toward the very end of the luncheon/fundraiser. I stepped into the narthex/sanctuary right before lunch; I'd always wanted to see the inside of Oklahoma City's "Flying Nun" church. (It's really pretty cool if you like Sixties Modern stuff. Great stained glass.)

While we are on earth, with limited human understanding, the best we can do is come together on the big issues, and do our best to continually be learning deeper truths as God reveals them. He holds the answers and frees us to come to greater understanding as He wills. (Daniel 2:22, Jeremiah 33:3) So what I look for is a church with leadership that is seeking to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. (John 4:23-24) And willing to humbly search for truth, and redirect as they walk into deeper understanding. And I do think Church on the Rock does that. Their leadership, staff and congregation are without question seeking to worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth. Their hearts are right, and I have personally watched them listen to differing views with humility. Besides this their support of other churches, ministries and people is the best I have ever seen. If you are looking for a first time church, it is a very friendly, easy to approach church. There are lots of visitors, so you will not be awkwardly singled out. But you will probably be greeted by someone with a smile. If you are looking to dive deep into the mysteries of God. You are in the right place. The church seems adept at speaking to the unchurched first timer and the veteran bible scholar. The quality and authenticity of their worship is fantastic.

Our problems were how pastor Rhett kept thinking he had the authority to command angels (remember, Christ lowered himself below the angels to become man, man has no authority over angels). And the fact their senior pastor, John, is referred to as "Apostle John". They need a large slice of humble pie. Very few small groups, they paired us with 18 year olds (we're in our late 20s) & then wondered why we felt awkward having life discussions.
