The previous review really sums it up, but I'm going to add my lil' tidbit for my recent discovery…read moreand love for Unity Church of Portland. This church is decorated with many symbols of love and devotion from crosses, rainbows, Om, lotus, etc. There are always very beautiful messages of living and loving this life and all the things it has to offer, whether we can always see them or not. :) There is a side garden with a bench and its beautiful right now as the daisies and roses are in bloom. I frequent the community events, workshops, and weekly serenity meetings. In the room my group meets in, you can see the drawings from the children that are there other times during the week, they read such beautiful things in colorful marker or crayon colors. "I Love Myself. Love my Parents. Love my fellow humans" "Some times we must look closely even to the things we can not see" --- wow. "Equal but working hard" There is a small shop with beautiful crystals and books and the ladies in the office are extremely helpful. Awkward parking lot, kinda small. Great place to gather and just be.

It looks welcoming It has a kind of 70's feel to it. From the carefully tended garden to the small gift shop you could feel the energy the congregation had invested in their space. Their are handmade signs and banners everywhere. You really get the peace, love, kindness vibe, but in a very genuine and meaningful way. I was fortunate enough to interact with the pastor, who was presiding over the wedding. She was really wonderful. She imparted a sense of calm (weddings can be intense) and was incredibly welcoming. She also know just the right thing to say to help make the ceremony more meaningful. I really enjoyed my time there and would definitely enjoy attending service regularly if I lived in the area.

St. Ignatius Catholic Church - Grand piano for the choir!

Sunday morning mass at 8am in Portland, Oregon…read more.. St. Ignatius Catholic Church was close to our Airbnb. It had a free parking lot and great reviews. Father Chris was friendly and welcoming. The interior of the church was beautiful, as was the outside. The music was exceptional. The lead singer (what a voice!) played the Grand Piano while a violinist accompanied him. Overall, it was a super experience! Coffee and donuts were served after mass... thank you!

This is our 4th Spaghetti Dinner at this church!…read more Lunch opens at exactly Noon. As soon as you are seated, the waiter brings you water, bread & salad for two. Your plate comes with 3 meatballs, 8 raviolis, and 3/4th of spaghetti and meat sauce. Comparing this meat sauce to the last Pastini spaghetti take-out, this is by far more moister and has more sauce. They will ask if you need more bread, salad, and when you're done, they give you a single serving of ice cream, usually with a swirl of strawberry or chocolate. Why the 1 star negative? The salad has very little dressing. Last year, I asked for additional dressing, but because I was almost done with mine, I just ignored it. Also, their numbering method: Larger groups first, instead of being given a number of First Come First Served. Which is OK by me, but there were children that needed to be fed first, that were there before us, and we were two of the last ones to show up and because the rest were waiting for their call, the person in charge just keep mumbling: "OK, who is next?" So, we got in, because no one else was in line, everyone's sitting down waiting to be 'called'. It is a great place to get a delicious & filling lunch for a low price: $10 for seniors each.

But don't plan on eating until 7:30pm, unless you count snacking on popcorn while waiting. The reason: They sell raffle tickets, they sell auction tickets, and beer/wine drinks. The highest bids starting from $100 gets the first inline for the crab table. You can bid as high as you want, the highest tonight went up to $700. The remaining tables are picked by random, by the time they get to announce our number, it was close to 7:30pm. It's a buffet-style, when you pick: salad, dressing, bread, sauce, coleslaw and at the end of another table, a person giving out cut-out crab with legs, 2 at a time, not 3, only 2. On our ticket, after we got inside, since this is our first crab event here (we've been to several church crab feed before), it stated: 'Bring your own crab cracker, and bring your own butter from home, if you want melted butter they'd melt it for you). They didn't provide crab bibs. The people on another table are pros! They have brought with them: gloves, bibs, crab crackers. They're pros and they've been HERE before, and the reason why they went FIRST inline and bid the highest! After all that, the crab was wonderful! You got all you could eat. The rest was so so. The churros (provided sponsors), mine were rubbery, and the cake, thought it was good, but it was enough for a toddler size! Oh, we get refills for stale popcorn! And yes, you can go back for more crab!

In addition to their Sunday services, neighbors are likely to encounter used book sales (which provide a nice glimpse into the collective psyche of the church), an annual Easter egg hunt, and sometimes live music and ice water during the SE Sunday Parkways event. Rather than try to paraphrase my understanding of the church's sentiments, I think you'll be better served by checking their web site: www.lincolnstreet.org
